Ultimate Beach Paradise in Negros Occidental: How To Get There and Budget Guide 2023

Lakawon Island is an emerging summer destination in Cadiz, Negros Occidental that prides on its powdery white sand and pristine blue waters. You can also find the largest floating bar in Asia there! If you're looking for a summer destination or a beach paradise within Western Visayas aside from Boracay, I could definitely recommend this place! :) It's relatively cheaper than Boracay, too! ;)

This vlog is filmed in English and Japanese. Enjoy! :)
I love Japan and hopefully I could make Japanese friends through this channel as well.

Pulupandan Islet and Gigantes Island or Islas de Gigantes in Carles Iloilo | Tour via Habal Habal

#islagigantes #gigantesisland #iloilo

Gigantes Island, also known as the Islas de Gigantes, is a group of islands located in the Visayan Sea, specifically in the northern part of Iloilo province in the Philippines. Here are some key points about Gigantes Island:

Natural Beauty: Gigantes Island is renowned for its stunning natural beauty. It features white sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, limestone formations, and lush greenery. The picturesque landscapes make it a popular destination for travelers seeking a tropical paradise.

Island Hopping: One of the main attractions of Gigantes Island is island hopping. Tourists can explore various islets and caves scattered around the area. Some popular stops include Cabugao Gamay Island, Antonia Beach, Tangke Saltwater Lagoon, and Bantigue Sandbar. Each of these locations offers unique natural features and opportunities for swimming, snorkeling, and photography.

Fresh Seafood: Gigantes Island is known for its abundant seafood, particularly scallops. Visitors can savor fresh scallops, crabs, and other seafood delicacies, often prepared by local restaurants or vendors. The scallops are typically served grilled or cooked in various ways, making for a delicious culinary experience.

Lighthouse: The Gigantes Island group is home to the Gigantes Island Lighthouse, also known as Faro de Punta Luzaran. This historic lighthouse stands as a beacon for ships navigating the surrounding waters and offers panoramic views of the islands and the sea.

Local Culture: While on Gigantes Island, visitors have the opportunity to engage with the local community and experience the culture of the people living there. The islanders are known for their hospitality and warmth, making it a welcoming destination for tourists.

Accessibility: To reach Gigantes Island, you can take a boat from the town of Carles in Iloilo. The boat ride typically takes around an hour, and there are regular trips to the islands. It's advisable to check the boat schedules and make arrangements in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons.

Conservation Efforts: Due to the increasing popularity of Gigantes Island as a tourist destination, there have been efforts to promote sustainable tourism and protect the fragile ecosystems of the islands. Visitors are encouraged to follow responsible tourism practices, such as disposing of waste properly and respecting the natural environment.

Overall, Gigantes Island offers a tranquil escape for travelers looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature, enjoy fresh seafood, and explore the unique attractions of this stunning archipelago in the Philippines.

From Green Beach to Silay. Operation Victor Pt.2, the first landings on Negros island.

In the second episode of this series we visit Green Beach, Pulupandan and Silay to see the site of the March-April 1945 landings on Negros Occidental, the beach head, and a bit of the way north that was traveled and liberated in this first phase of Operation Victor. Of special interest is the old Bago Bridge, which was key to American progress up the coast. Special thanks to Paul Whitman, John Lindgren, Lou Aikens and John D. Reynolds for all their research into the Negros campaign and the invaluable help that research was when writing this script. HISTORY OF PULUPANDAN

HISTORY OF PULUPANDAN
PULUPANDAN DERIVED ITS NAME FROM THE VERNACULAR PHRASE “PULO SANG PANDAN”, MEANING “ISLE OF PANDAN”, DUE TO THE WILD FOREST OF PALMS IN THE TOWN DURING THE EARLY DAYS BEFORE IT BECAME A BUSTLING SEAPORT.

SALAPAN FESTIVAL

SALAPAN FESTIVAL

SALAPAN WAS COINED FROM THE WORDS SALAP AND PANDAN. SALAP IS A NATIVE WORD FOR “FISHNET” AND IS LINKED TO THE TRADITIONAL GUINAMOS INDUSTRY. WHILE THE WORD ‘PAN’ COMES FROM THE WORD “PANDAN” WHICH IS THE BASIS OF THE TOWN “PULO SG PANDAN” OR ISLE OF PANDAN. LIKEWISE, ANOTHER ‘PAN’ REFERS TO THE PORT OR “PANTALAN” WHICH IS THE MAJOR FACTOR IN THE ECONOMIC GROWTH OF THE TOWN. THE PANDAN AND FISHING NET INSPIRED COSTUME OF THE DANCERS DEPICTS THE LIVELIHOOD OF THE PEOPLE AND THE ABUNDANCE OF THE MARINE RESOURCES AND DELICACIES FOUND IN THE SEASHORE OF PULUPANDAN. THE FESTIVAL IS HELD EVERY FEBRUARY 15

How to get there:

By Air

To go to Gigantes Islands, you can either fly to Iloilo City or Roxas City.

Via Roxas City

At Roxas City, board a van from the transport terminal to Balasan (P65).
From Balasan, ride a tricycle to Bancal Port (P50/head).
From Bancal port, board a public boat bound for Gigantes Norte (P75).

Note that public boat going to Gigantes Norte has only one trip which departs at 10:00 AM. Same as going back to Bancal from Gigantes which departs at 1:00 PM.

Via Iloilo City

There are shuttles that come in and out of the airport.

Take a van that goes to the city center. Alight at SM Iloilo.

Cross to the other side through the overpass bridge.

Ride a jeep that goes to the Ceres bus terminal; travel time is about 40 minutes to an hour depending on traffic.
Once at the terminal, look for the buses or vans bound for Estancia (P190-200); travel time would take about 3 hours.

Alight at the town of Estancia, which is the last stop and only a few minutes of walk away from the port.

The pump boat usually leaves at 10 in the morning; it would also depend on the number of passengers. A boat ride would take about 2 to 3 hours depending on the current. The fare is around P80. For big groups, you can charter a private boat for P4000-5000.

Panay Island (Negros Iloilo Capiz) Adventure

It was a long journey going to each locations but feel blessed that I have reached some of the beautiful places in Panay Island except for Antique. The nice places of Negros Ruins, Campuestohan Highland, Bacolod City Hall and Lakawon Luxury Beach Resort are amazing tourist spots. The must visit place of Iloilo, Isla Gigantes (Balbagon Island, Pulupandan Island, Cabugao Gamay, Antonia Beach). Unlucky, we missed the Tangke Island due to bad weather condition that time but the experience was so relaxing. And also, Capiz is also has a remarkable places like Pan-Ay Church, Spanggo, Capiz Signage in Cafe Terraza, Provincial Capitol of Capiz and Immaculate Concepcion Metropolitan Cathedral and Sacred Heart of Jesus to complete our tour.
