Top 10 Reasons to Visit Taiwan | MojoTravels

We're obviously aware of and deeply concerned about the global pandemic, and are choosing carefully what to publish as forms of escapism and entertainment to help ease thoughts of anxiety, and provide an alternative from the news. We are obviously NOT encouraging anyone to travel now or discouraging social distancing.

Are you excited to visit this amazing country?

FAQs
========================================
Q: How long did it take?
A: My trip was 14 days.

Q: Which airport should I arrive at?
A: Having travelled from the other side of the globe, I arrived at Taoyuan International Airport in Taipei. If travelling from Australia or Asia, there may be connecting flights to Kaohsiung International Airport on the south-west coast of Taiwan.

Q: How much did it cost?
A: You can see a cost breakdown of my trip at 12:37

Q: How did you pay for things or get local currency?
A: I just take money out from an ATM using my debit card. It has a small international transaction fee, but it’s minuscule if you only do it once or twice. You may be able to order foreign currency at better rates, but it’s not something I personally bothered with.

Q: Is it easy to find petrol stations?
A: Yes, you'll find one pretty much everywhere, including remote areas in the mountains! I always went with caution and ensured I had a full tank before entering remote areas, however to my shock, there were petrol stations, and even 7 Eleven stores in remote mountains! Just to be safe, I would highly recommend getting a full tank of petrol before going to the mountains.

Q: Which month did you go?
A: I visited mid November to early December and spent 14 days there.

鯉魚潭 - LiYu Lake, Puli, Taiwan

(See below for English)

In Taiwan there are so many lake called Liyu Lake. This one is located in the east of Puli Town, the center place of Taiwan Island.

In Chinese liyu means carp, it is one kind of fish in Taiwan.
Around the lake there is a walk path. The total length of that walk path is about 1.3 kilometers.
This lake was about 46 acres, and was famous for its natural beautiful scenery.
It will spend 10 to 15 minutes driving, if you start from Puli.

Wineries in Taichung and Puli (台中埔里酒廠)

In this video you will see us visiting a sake winery in Wufeng and the Farmer's Association Winery in Puli. Was interesting, not super exciting (I am more interested in the outdoors...). But anyway, always good to check out new places. :)

Puli, previously recognized as Puli Town, rests in the heart of the Puli Basin and was historically a part of Shuishilian during the Qing Dynasty. Over time, its central location among the scenic areas of Central Taiwan has transformed it into a significant tourist destination in the region. Serving as the hub of the northeastern district of Nantou County, Puli, along with Guoxing, Yuchi, and Renai, offers a variety of economic, cultural, and medical services. Positioned at an elevation of approximately 440 meters, the city center boasts a picturesque setting.

Jinan University, also known as Jida, is the sole national university situated in Nantou County, Taiwan. Its origins can be traced back to the Jinan School, founded in Nanjing during the late Qing Dynasty. As a member institution of the National Taiwan University system, JNU presently comprises five colleges, namely the College of Humanities, the College of Management, the College of Science and Technology, the College of Education, and the Shuishin College.

Central Taiwan's Sun Moon Lake has always been one of the must-sees in Taiwan. Yet, if you feel like doing sight-seeing through Topology Travel's eyes, here's a chance to get a glimpse of how we arrange a tour that goes OFF TRAIL!

If you don't feel like joining an ordinary tour, see if you're interested in Puli, a small, quiet and lovely countryside town where cute things happen, say:

1) hands-on experience at GuanXin Paper Factory (learning how to make your own traditional paper art crafts)
2) visiting Jumping Land (why not getting a geological and recreational lesson!)
3) meeting local people and visiting hidden attractions up in the hills
4) Paper Dome (learning a bit about 921 Earthquake and enjoy a tranquil walk at the Church)

Topology Travel offers package trips that not only save your time organizing a tour, but offer non-touristic tours. We'll cover the general well-known attractions, also we'd like to recommend what we think it's worth to visit. Keep it mind that small things matter a lot!

One of the most beautiful and also the craziest scooter rides I have done.

We decided to drive from Hualien through Taroko National park all the way to Puli.. BY SCOOTER. Bad idea..?! Did we make it..?

We had nothing planned and didn´t book any accommodation as we weren´t sure where we will end up, so we went completely with the flow.. From almost running out of petrol (driving below the red for about 25km in the mountains, to driving on the edge of the cliffs in the clouds, and stopping right in front of the falling rocks from the cliff.. this was definitely an adventure.

-

The original plan was to drive straight to Puli, however due to the wether conditions, we decided to stop at Ren´ai - a town that was about an hour and a half drive away from Puli..

-

My first time visiting Taroko and the region in general.

Let me know if you enjoyed it! :)

What to do in Sun Moon Lake, Nantou Taiwan

Taiwan's largest lake, Sun Moon Lake is located in the mountains of Nantou at the geographic centre of Taiwan island.

The name of the lake is inspired by the beauty of the area. The east side of the lake is round, like the sun, while the west side is long and narrow, like a crescent moon.
