PUKKE ALBANIA
Pukkë ( Puka) is a town and municipality in northern Albania. It was formed at the 2015 local government reform by the merger of the former municipalities Gjegjan, Pukkë, Qelëz, Qerret and Rrapë, that became municipal units. The seat of the municipality is the town Pukkë. The total population is 47,000 (2011 census), in a total area of 505.53 km2.

Staying At An Albanian Ethno Farm Near Kukes - HARROWING DRIVE!!
This is one of the more wild drives I've been on in my whole travels, from a failed border crossing, a near miss on getting stuck in the mud, trying to find our way out of Montenegro over partially collapsed bridges to the correct roads that would lead us to Albania through a thunderstorm, no street lights, rain so hard that the headlights didn't do much of anything --- to FINALLY getting to the Ethno Farm in the BEAUTIFUL mountains of Albania with some of the SWEETEST people I've met. I may have cried a little having to get back in the car and not having enough time to properly enjoy this little slice of heaven. Just glad I have this video as memories to remember it by now.

Join us as we experience Albania's natural wonders and ancient past.
In this episode, we visit the Lixhat e Bënjës, a naturally occurring hot spring that's been moulded in to a perfect swimming spot. We explore caves carved by mountaineers and military forces and enjoy bathing in the warm thermal waters on offer.
After, we visit Gjirokastër and discover the best preserved example of Ottoman history in the Balkans and the birthplace of former dictator Enver Hoxha. We explore the narrow, winding streets and attempt to get our van repaired.

A little about us...
We’re Lucy and Ben, two photographers from Cornwall, UK who’ve been living and travelling in our self-converted LDV Convoy camper van for the best part of four years. We’ve travelled all across Europe from West to East documenting our encounters with the people we meet as well as our own travels and adventures. We embrace the ethos of slow travel and minimal living, generally spending between 2 and 8 weeks in each country, getting to know each culture, cuisine and people as though we were locals ourselves as well as hiking, wild swimming and camping as we go.
We are currently on our third 7 month long road trip, travelling through the Balkans for the second time beginning in the French Alps and venturing as far East as Turkey, visiting 13 countries in between.
Our plan was simple: visit every country in Europe in our rusty tin can of a van. So far we’ve made it to 28 countries, travelling as far West as Portugal and as far East as Ukraine, having all sorts of crazy adventures in between.
Our main motivation for our travels is to capture photos and create documentary projects, so our van is primarily a vessel for our photography. We tend to focus on topics such as nomadism, traditional ways of life, the effects of recent political events and the difficulties of living in remote rural areas as well as documenting our own adventures and lifestyle on our various social channels.
We’ve had so many memorable experiences on our travels, and our photo documentary projects have given us an intimate insight into the lives of many different people and brought us together as friends.
We've visited the folk living in one of the most remote corners of Europe in the Albanian Alps, experienced the culture and traditions of the horsemen in the Hortóbagy National Park, and experienced life with Roma gypsies in their village in Romania, and there's still so much more to explore...

ALBANIA'S top tourist attraction: The ancient fort ???? of GJIROKASTER
Albania, the castle at Gjirokastër, Gjirokastra fortress in Albania. Let's visit Albania and let's go to Gjirokastra's eerie hilltop castle is one of the biggest in the Balkans. There's been a fortress at Gjirokastra in Albania since the 12th century, although much of what can be seen today dates to the early 19th century. The castle at Gjirokastra (Gjirokastra fortress) remains somewhat infamous due to its use as a prison under the communists. Inside the castle at Gjirokastra (Gjirokastra fortress) there's a collection of armoury, two good museums, plenty of crumbling ruins to scramble around, and superb views over the valley.
Gjirokastër is a city in southern Albania, in a valley between the Gjerë mountains and the Drino, at 300 metres above sea level. Its old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, described as a rare example of a well-preserved Ottoman town, built by farmers of large estate.

NORTH ALBANIA 2023
An active holiday in yet another Balkan country - Albania. This time we did some serious hiking in the North. Going from Valbone to Theth with an optional hike to Maja Jezerces peak (2764m). We explored area of Theth and then we carried on to Nikç. After getting back in civilisation it was time to relax and to explore local culture and cuisine in Shkoder, Duress and Tirana.
