There is so much more to see in this amazing country and I would highly recommend visiting the beaches and Atacama desert heading north, as I did on a solo trip in 2015.

Our time South America was amazing and we cannot wait to explore further on day!

***Originally filmed in early 2019, whilst we cannot currently travel and do not recommend until ‘safe’, we hope to inspire and remind people of the beauty of this world, that will still remain and awe long after all these Covid-19 issues.

Patagonia TOP 10 best places to visit

Patagonia is a region in South America, share by Chile and Argentina. In the Southern Andes you will find dramatic landscapes like deserts, pampas and grasslands (with guanaco). This region is located just north of Tierra del Fuego. The amazingly stunning Carretera Austral runs through this area and is a great roadtrip on your holiday. When you visit Patagonia, make sure you visit these highlights, as these are the best things to do in Patagonia:

1. Torres del Paine (Parque Nacional Torres del Paine)
The iconic of Patagonia: the three giant granite peaks are well worth the visit! Whether you want to do a day hike or the W circuit multi-day hike, this will be one of the highlights!
Cheapest stay: goo.gl/P64qgJ
Closet to track: goo.gl/6VeMBi

2. Cerro Fitz Roy ( El Chalten, Parque Nacional Los Glaciares)
Mount Fitz Roy is located on the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. It is among the most challenging mountains to climb, but the views from the bottom are also fabulous!
Great stay at this B&B: goo.gl/PVMBR8

3. Cavernas de Marmol (Puerto Rio Tranquilo)
This Marble cathedral is a natural wonder, consisting of formations of calcium carbonate. It is located on the shore of the General Lake Carrera and can only be reached by boat.
Explore the area from your own (discount) bungalow: goo.gl/Jv4WVs

4. Ventisquero Colgante (Parque Nacional Queulat)
Also called the hanging glacier, this stunning glacier is hanging above a cliff. You can either walk the short way to the lookout or be amazed by the glacier and the surroundings from a boat.
great accommodation: goo.gl/GpZNGc

5. Salto del Laja (Bio Bio region)
These waterfalls of the Laja river are spectacular in every sense. Where the river is calm upstream, downstream it gets more and more like a rapid as the waters rush through a deep and narrow canyon.
Nice and comfortable pace near the waterfalls: goo.gl/FXbkVs

6. Volcan Chaiten (Parque Nacional Pumalin)
This volcano is easily to be climbed for great views from the ever active volcano. The most recent eruption was in 2008!
For a complete stay: goo.gl/Kq2Ep7

7. Araucaria Araucana (Parque Nacional Nahuelbuta)
The Monkey Puzzle trees in the area near Temuco are dated to be 2000 years old. The many walking paths give you a great opportunity the view these impressive trees.
recommended stay: goo.gl/ruanWJ

8. Villarica Volcan (Parque Nacional Villarica)
Also known as Rucapihan, this is one of the most active volcanoes of Chile and is located in the Central Chilean Valley. The hike to the top is truly amazing, although it can be dangerous when there is too much snow.
Great views best value: goo.gl/rW75wK

9. Perito Moreno (El Calafate, Parque Nacional Los Glaciares)
This immense glacier is one of the few glaciers worldwide that are advancing. It is easy to go to the large viewing platform and see enormous pieces of ice collapse into the water.
Fabulous views and great Patagonian breackfast: goo.gl/EEECJC

10. Mirador Cuernos (Parque Nacional Torres del Paine)
The views on the Torres are truly beautiful from this side of the lake. There are plenty of walking tracks to several lookouts for the best views.

- Fjorde, Hornopiren, Pumalin Park, Chaiten
- Queulat Nationalpark, Queulat Gletscher, Puyuhuapi
- Rio Futaleufu, Futaleufu
- Cerro Castillo, Villa Cerro Castillo
- Marmorhöhlen & Lago General Carrera, Puerto Rio Tranquilo
- Exploradores Gletscher, Puerto Rio Tranquilo
- Rio Baker, Cochrane
- Caleta Tortel
- Villa O'Higgins
- O’Higgins Gletscher

Is CHILEAN PATAGONIA Difficult to Travel? | Let us guide you | Aysen Region | Chile TRAVEL VLOG

Chilean Patagonia can be difficult to navigate, especially the Aysen Region. With limited information online are we able to find our way to the Marble Caves and the Queulat National Park without having to hitch a ride? Watch now to find out...

We arrive from Argentina to the small border town, Chile Chico. Here we attempt to visit the famous marble caves and somehow get to the Aysen region capital, Coyhaique. Then from we attempt to visit the famous Hanging Glacier in the Queulat National Park. We don't have much time and the distances are vast, roads are long and our Spanish is sparse.

Watch us get through this tricky area of the world and see how we experienced Aysen.

We are so new to vlog travel, having just provided highlights set to music before (see the SE Asia series). SO this adventure is filmed and edited on the road, in hostels, on the ground with THE most slow WIFI. Having to travel and edit is going to be challenging. We would love for you to follow us in the journey and hope the videos provide good information if you are planning to travel to the area or just interested. Chile is good for you - Unravel Travel TV

Chile is a long, narrow country that extends from the Andes Mountains to the Pacific Ocean on the southwest side of South America, from latitude 17° 30' S in the Altiplano to 56° 30' S at the far end of continental Chile and 90° S in its Antarctic territory.

Chile has a unique geography: its territory includes Easter Island, in Polynesia, 3,700 km from the mainland, as well as territory in Antarctica (Chile Antártico, 1,250,000 km2). Continental and insular Chile, which includes the mainland and offshore islands and archipelagos, covers 756,096 km2.

Chile's main territory is roughly twice the size of Germany and consists of a strip of land 4,200 km long and 90 to 440 km wide. In the far south, the land is transected by hundreds of islands and fiords.

Santiago is the country's capital and largest city in terms of population and employment, with 6,061,185 inhabitants as of the 2002 census. Located on parallel 33° S, at roughly the same latitude as Buenos Aires and Montevideo, Santiago is the country's main political, economic, cultural and industrial center. It is the gateway to Chile and one of the most modern capital cities on the continent.

Getting Around in Chile
Chile has an extensive network of well-maintained highways. Major roadways include the Panamericana, which is called Route 5 north between Arica and Santiago and Route 5 south between Santiago and Puerto Montt. This highway runs through most of mainland Chile.

Three main highways run through central Chile to the coast, including the Autopista Del Sol, which connects Santiago with the port city of San Antonio and beach towns such as Cartagena, Algarrobo and Isla Negra; Route 68, the road from Santiago to Valparaíso, which will take you to coastal cities and beach resorts such as Viña del Mar, Reñaca, and Concón; and the Carretera del Vino (Route I-50), which runs from Rancagua through the Colchagua winegrowing valley.

In the south, excellent highways connect Route 5 with coastal cities such as Valdivia and Concepción. South of Puerto Montt and into the broken landscape of Northern Patagonia, you must take a combination of ferries to reach the Carretera Austral (Southern Highway), the main roadway through this region, which offers some of the most stunning natural scenery in all of South America.

To reach the islands of Chiloé, take a ferry from Pargua (65 km west of Puerto Montt), crossing the Chacao Channel (35 minutes) to Isla Grande de Chiloé. The other islands in this area can be reached via water taxis or ferries, or even by kayak.

If you want to visit Easter Island, you will have to fly from Santiago. The same is true for Juan Fernández Island (also known as Robinson Crusoe island).

If you want to get to Southern Patagonia, there are daily flights from Santiago and Puerto Montt to the gateway city of Punta Arenas. You can also get there by road from Argentina.

Most major highways in Chile have emergency services, service stations, restaurants and, of course, toll booths.
Dozens of bus lines offer passenger service to the country's main cities. Buses usually travel at around 80 km/h, which means that the trip from Santiago to Puerto Montt (1,024 km) would take approximately 13 hours.
