Top best places to visit in Pristina, Kosovo
Pristina is the capital and largest city of Kosovo.
Prishtina is the economic, administrative and cultural center of the country. It is called the “City of Coffee Bars” for many outdoor cafes found almost everywhere.
The Skanderbeg Square is the central plaza of town named after Albanian national hero whose statue can be found there. It is at the end of the Mother Therese Boulevard, the main pedestrian street, and next to the National Theater.
Nearby, housed in an Austria-Hungarian style building, the National Museum has a rich collection of prehistoric objects.
Tucked back in the old town streets, composed of a traditional guest house, an arts studio and a family home, is the Ethnological Museum.
Between these museums are situated two significant mosques:
The Jashar Pasha Mosque.
And the biggest and most important city mosque, the Sultan Fatih Mosque.
Opposite the Fatih Mosque is one of the best landmarks of old town, served as a means of informing the city, the Clock Tower.
In the neighborhood is another religious site, the St Nicholas Church, the only remaining operative Serbian Orthodox Church in Prishtina.
At the end of the Mother Therese Boulevard there is one more big city square, named after the Hero of Kosovo, Zahir Pajaziti.
Close to this square is the Newborn Monument, a memorial unveiled on the independence day.
And behind it is the Palace of Youth and Sports, a multipurpose arena located next to the City Stadium.
A strangely beautiful building of the National Library is even more interesting in construction, built in the campus of the University of Prishtina.
Beside the campus is the Mother Teresa Cathedral, a Roman Catholic Church currently under construction.
10km outside Pristina is the Gračanica Monastery, a crucial religious center, placed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
1 hour drive from the capital is the Visoki Dečani Monastery, a major Serbian Orthodox Church also protected by UNESCO.
In Pristina it’s also worth to visit the biggest green area in a center, the City Park.
And the Park of Martyrs, a cemetery with a panoramic view of the city.

Back in October of 2020, I spent a little over a week on a once-in-a-lifetime road trip through Kosovo with my good friend Erjan Guxha. I spent two of those days in the national capital, Pristina. This city lies on a plain near the Goljak Mountains, and has a rich history that has roots dating back to the ancient Vinča culture.
The city, like most of Kosovo, has moved on from the dark days of the Kosovo War in the 1990s, and rebuilt itself stronger than ever. That said, Pristina still is often overlooked by travelers visiting the Balkans in favor of other cities in the region like Belgrade, Dubrovnik, Split, Skopje, and Sofia. But Pristina is more than worthy of a visit, and I’ll show you why in this video.

Whether you’re visiting the gorgeous Mirusha Waterfalls and Gadime Caves just outside of town, dining on delicious local fare at Molla Egër Agroturizëm, or checking out the unique architecture of the National Library of Kosovo, there’s something for everyone in this city.
Erjan and I explored sites within the city, like Cathedral of Saint Mother Teresa and the Magic Ice Cheese Factory. We also ventured outside the city limits to the ancient city of Ulpiana, Bear Sanctuary Pristina, and Gračanica Monastery.
And, of course, we couldn’t visit Pristina without trying some delicious qebapa and qofte! But instead of me telling you about what a fantastic travel destination Pristina is, let me show you…

Here is my experience about visiting Pristina and seeing the Library, statues, monuments etc.. and comparing it to Prizren with the medieval mosques, food, and ancient bridges. However, traveling to Pristina is a worthwhile and necessary experience for anyone interested in learning more about the recent history of the Balkans. Pristina, one of the newest capitals in the world, is a cosmopolitan city with a youthful vibrancy and historical landmarks that reflect the ups and downs of Balkan history. As the beating heart of the
newly formed Republic of Kosovo, the city is attempting to wash away the remnants of years of rule by first the Yugoslavs and later the Serbs.
The post-independence years have seen intense reconstruction programs overseen by the UN and the EU and an abundance of overseas workers. This has brought in and allied to a multilingual returning Diaspora and Has created a genuinely cosmopolitan vibe.

4 HOURS in PRISTINA, KOSOVO - City Tour - Travel Doucumentary 2023
Decided to do a day trip to Kosovo, Europe's newest country. Took the 8am bus from Skopje to arrive in Pristina, Kosovo around 10:30 am. Border crossing was easy, as the bus driver handled everything. We didn't move from our seats.
Thinking there was a evening bus back to Skopje would leave us plenty to time to explore Pristina, but we were wrong. The last bus to Skopje was at 3pm. This left us with abut 4 hours to explore Pristina. We were amazed in what we could see and do with such a short time....all by walking.
