Number 6. See the Alexandria National Museum
The excellent Alexandria National Museum is another great place to go if you want to learn more about the city's history. The museum is in a historic mansion in Alexandria, and it tells people in great detail about Egypt's long and complicated history. You start with the famous Egyptian Pharaohs and then move on to the Greek and Roman times, when Alexandria was founded, the Christian and Islamic times, and finally the present day.

Number 5. Wander the Antiquities Museum
The Antiquities Museum is one of the museums at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. It is a great place to learn more about the city and its place in the ancient Mediterranean world. The museum is mostly about the time of Alexander the Great, who founded the city. At the time, he was a famous conqueror who would rule most of the known world.

Number 4. Visit the Bibliotheca Alexandrina
The legendary Bibliotheca Alexandrina is one of the best things to do in Alexandria, Egypt. This is a modern version of the ancient Library of Alexandria, which was said to have had more knowledge and books than anywhere else in the ancient world. During the wars with Rome, Julius Caesar burned the city to the ground, which destroyed the ancient library.

Number 3. Cross the Stanley Bridge
Stanley Bridge is one of the most famous places in Alexandria, and you have to walk across this wide, amazing piece of engineering while you're there. The 400-meter-long bridge has big towers and lots of places to look out. It's best to see it at night, but it gets busy because it seems like everyone in Alexandria wants to walk across it.

2. Shop at the Souk in Alexandria
One of the best things to do in Alexandria, Egypt, is to dive right into the Souk District, a maze of shops and market stalls where it's easy to get lost. This is Alexandria as it has been for thousands of years: a busy market place where people from all over the Mediterranean, and now from all over the world, come to shop and visit. If you bargain hard in stores, you can get some good deals.

Number 1. Stroll the Alexandria Corniche
Get your bearings in this huge city. It has more than 5 million people, so huge might not be the right word. by taking a walk along the Corniche in Alexandria. This long walkway runs along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and is a great way to get to know the city. You can look across the water to the legendary city of Alexandria, which has been seen by many empire builders and tourists before you.

The Top Attractions of Egypt’s Nile Delta: Port Said

At the eastern edge of the Nile Delta lies Port Said, a relatively modern city established in 1859 during the construction of the Suez Canal. Port Said marks the northern entry into the world-famous waterway, which connects the Mediterranean with the Red Sea and therefore has enormous commercial and political importance. Walk along the city’s waterfront boardwalk to admire its crumbling 19th-century architecture and to marvel at the sight of titanic supertankers on their way from Europe to Africa and Asia. Free ferries run from Port Said to its sister city, Port Fuad, located on the opposite side of the canal.

Crossing the canal means traversing the border between Africa and Asia, and Port Said is one of only two metropolitan areas in the world (the other being Istanbul) where it’s possible to do so. To discover the canal’s historical importance, pay a visit to Port Said Military Museum. Exhibits shed light on the 1956 Suez Crisis, when Israel, the UK and France invaded Egypt in a failed attempt to remove the Egyptian president and regain Western control of the canal. You can also learn about later conflicts between Egypt and Israel. Contemporary art fans should also make a stop at the worthwhile Al-Nasr Museum of Modern Art.

Beach of Port Said Egypt Suez Canal meets the Mediterranean nothing fancy but incredible

Rudyard Kipling, the first British Nobel laureate, once said:“If you truly wish to find someone who you know and who travels, there are but two places where you but need to sit and wait, and sooner or later your man will come there: the docks of London and Port Said.”
One is the capital of the empire on which the sun never sets, and the other is where the East meets the West.

Port Said is located in the northeasternmost corner of Africa, at the northernmost point of the Suez Canal at the confluence of the Mediterranean Sea. This is a city that was born in the spotlight of the international stage.

If it weren't for the financial crisis of the Kingdom of Egypt, which spent too much resources building the Suez Canal at that time, the statue of the Goddess of Light that should have towered in Port Said would not have been transformed into a Statue of Liberty and sent to New York.

The archetype of the Goddess of Light is an Egyptian woman holding a torch in her hand and wearing a traditional flowing robe, whose torch in her hand represents Carrying the Light to Asia.

The prevailing northwesterly winds from the Mediterranean blow to Egypt on the southern coast of the Mediterranean, creating a beach and surf landscape that is quite different from Greece and France on the northern coast of the Mediterranean.

In addition to the tides caused by the Earth and the Moon, the northwest wind that continues to blow towards the coast of Egypt is like a hair dryer at full power, pushing the waves to overflow the edge of the big bowl of the Mediterranean Sea, forming a denser, finer and faster wave.

In my opinion, it is one of the best beaches to visit

Egypt - Port Said - 8 - 9 May 2013

Day 18 (8 May) onboard ms Noordam cruising Mediterranean Sea. Day 19 (9 May) docked in Pt Said and walked around enjoying the food, clothing and 'everything else' markets. It was an assault on the senses but loved the 'hussle and bussle' of it. Took a horse and cart ride around the city past the Suez Canal, Fortified Government Buildings and more crowded streets.
