Flying into Europe's Most Challenging Airport - Funchal, Madeira
I have been wanting to go to Funchal, Madeira airport in Portugal for a long time, as I have heard so much about the scary and challenging landing there. I flew on a TAP Air Portugal A319 from Lisbon to Madeira in the morning. The pilot explained why Funchal, Madeira is a difficult airport to land. The variable wind on the final approach and the draft from the mountain has created tough conditions for planes to land.
After landing in Madeira, I went planespotting with local plane spotters. There are a lot of amazing locations to spot planes arriving and departing. I also went underneath the runway pillars, where the runway has been extended.
The next day I flew back to Lisbon on a TAP Air Portugal A321neo, with Retro Livery. I met with first officer Patricia onboard and she shared with me her aviation story. Check out her landing into Lisbon. Find out more from the video.

The so-called Sack of Funchal, on the island of Madeira, took place on October 3, 1566. At the time, an expedition of French corsairs, under the command of Captain Pierre Bertrand de Montluc, managed to occupy and loot the city of Funchal.

Cheap fun way to explore Lisbon landmarks and steep twisty streets with a thrilling Tram 28 ride
During a 12 hours cruise stop in Lisbon ,we took Tram E28 back and forth to explore the famous landmarks and the narrow, steep and twisty streets of Lisbon. It was quite a thrilling ride as we see other trams, cars, tuk-tuks passing by in such close proximity and at times the tram was incredibly close to the buildings as it rattled along the tight steep gradients streets. The best of all, it only cost 7€ for a 24 hours metro pass with unlimited rides on trams, trains and buses to experience the sights, sounds and history of this beautiful and vibrant city .
Tram E12 & E28 offer a very scenic route, passing through some of Lisbon's historic districts like Alfama, Baixa, and Estrela. The routes use heritage-style tram carriages and today, it has become a popular tourist attraction in the city. Great way to have an overview of Lisbon and see some of the famous landmarks, old neighborhood and modern buildings..
