La nona puntata stagionale di Borghi d'Italia ci porta alla scoperta di Pontecorvo (Frosinone). Il comune, interamente distrutto durante la seconda guerra mondiale, oggi possiede un ridente centro storico con molte eccellenze. Il paese è famoso nel mondo cattolico perché l'unica apparizione di San Giovanni Battista riconosciuta dalla Chiesa è avvenuta nel 1137 sulle sponde del fiume Liri a Pontecorvo. Nel corso del programma incontriamo il sindaco, il parroco e gli altri protagonisti del territorio. Visitiamo la basilica concattedrale di S. Bartolomeo, la chiesa di San Paolo, il santuario dei Santi Cosma e Damiano, il museo del tabacco e il museo delle battaglie di monte Leucio. Inoltre percorriamo la via dei Santi e raccontiamo la tradizionale festa di San Giovanni Battista. Poi presentiamo il Peperone di Pontecorvo, vera eccellenza dell'agricoltura locale e come sempre degustiamo i piatti tipici del luogo.

Oh Italy... every time I visit, you blow my mind! We had no expectations about Bari and the Puglia region in general, but we fell in love since the very first minute! This has to be one of Italy's most underestimated regions. I don't understand why more people don't come here!
Did you know Italy is my favorite country? I have a weird connection with it. I don't know if it's the food, the language, the history, the sights, but it's a country I fell in love with since the first time I visited when I was 19... many many years ago!!! (I'm 35)
We hope you enjoy this Bari Italy vlog! We didn't really have a plan here, but somehow we ended up trying all the best foods and it honestly felt like being on vacation. We can't wait to be back to Italy!

Lipari Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Lipari in the Province of Messina, Sicily, dedicated to Saint Bartholomew. Formerly the episcopal seat of the diocese of Lipari, it has been since 1986 a co-cathedral in the Archdiocese of Messina-Lipari-Santa Lucia del Mela.
The church is located in the heart of the citadel with its front facing northwest, at the top of steps leading to the lower city. It is the oldest and largest church in Lipari. It belongs to the Archdiocese of Messina-Lipari-Santa Lucia del Mela, the vicariate of Lipari under the patronage of Bartholomew, the archpriestship of Lipari and the parish of San Bartolomeo.
The conversion of the inhabitants of Lipari dates to the middle of the 3rd century AD, from which point a place of prayer has existed on the island. The first cathedral was built in the heart of the acropolis, where a Greek temple had probably existed in the classical period, but it was destroyed by the Arabs in 838.
The spectacular facade is approached by means of a magnificent staircase which slowly reveals the proportions of the complex. The church can also be accessed from the Portra Carraia road in the citadel, but this route is more interesting for the views which it offers of the citadel. The facade has two small side entrances and a central marble portal with Ionic columns surmounted by Corinthian capitals which frame the entrance and support the architrave with a tympanum flanked by two curled volutes.
The central nave was initially covered by a trussed wooden ceiling, then with barrel vaults, and then with a series of groin vaults painted with high-quality frescos of biblical scenes. The thumbs of St Bartholomew: After Barbarossa sacked the church in 1544, the sacred relics were taken away to Asia Minor. A Spanish merchant acquired them and returned them to Lipari. Il Vascello (the vessel), or in the local dialect (U Vascidduzzu), is a masterpiece of silverwork by Perricone-Marano of Palermo containing 30 kg of silver and 2 kg of gold.
After the Arab Invasions, the island of Lipari remained uninhabited and when the Normans settled there they found only a few villages of Greek speaking inhabitants in the interior. In 1083, Count Roger I invited the Benedictine monks who were well-fitted for the serenity and security of the place, and built a monastery near the castle for them. The Abbot Ambrogio, head of the monks, directed the construction of the Norman cloisters which were completed around 1131 in the reign of Roger II and follow the Clunian Benedictine model. On the original plan, the church faced north and the cloisters south, near the monastery.
Bartholomew the apostle, also called Nathaniel Bartalmai, a name with means Gift of God, son of the field, who moves the water, was martyred in Asia. Legend has it that the pagans were enraged by the pious veneration which the Christians offered to the holy martyr, seized the corpse, locked it in a lead casket and cast it in the sea. The sarcophagus was recovered and transported secretly or miraculously to Lipari, where the first Aeolian Christians built a great church to house his body.

Orhei è una città della Moldavia, capoluogo del distretto omonimo di 25.641 abitanti al censimento del 2004, situata nella parte centro orientale del paese lungo la riva del Răut, dista 42 km dalla capitale. Uno dei luoghi di interesse più popolari in Moldavia è una zona turistica chiamata Old Orhei (Orheiul Vechi), che si trova sul fiume Raut (Răut Rău). Si tratta di un patrimonio nazionale, che si trova a circa 60 km dalla capitale Chisinau, tra i paesi di Butuceni, Morovaia e Trebujeni. Orhei Vechi è un complesso archeologico e storico, composto da due siti archeologici molto antichi, un'antica chiesa rupestre e diversi alberghi privati in stile tradizionale, situati nei villaggi di Butucheni e Trebujeni. La vecchia Orhei è un luogo eccezionalmente tranquillo e delizioso, con paesaggi impressionanti e un enorme sfondo storico che portano i turisti a scoprire le antiche radici della Moldova.
Nella splendida cittadina moldava di Orhei, da giugno 2018 è stato inaugurato un parco divertimenti ed intrattenimento che è un qualcosa di veramente speciale per un Paese in via di sviluppo come la Moldavia, certamente impensabile fino a non molto tempo fa.

Oggi esploreremo una parte del PARCO NAZIONALE DELLA MAJELLA in ABRUZZO, ci addentreremo nelle GOLE DEL FIUME ALENTO e alla vicina Abbazia di San Liberatore a Majella, faremo un trekking in direzione dell'Eremo di San Bartolomeo in Legio e passeremo una giornata a Roccascalegna visitando il suo affascinante Castello Medievale.

As suas robustas paredes externas abrigam um parque com um punhado de bancos sob as árvores, um parque infantil e bonitas vistas dos canais vizinhos da Pequena Veneza.
EN// The Fortezza Nuova, in Livorno, was built for the Medicis between 1590 and 1604, this hulk of a red-brick fort is the center of Piccola Venezia. Its sturdy outer walls shelter a park with a handful of benches under the trees, a children's playground and pretty views of 'Little Venice's surrounding canals.
