The bustling seaside city of Budva might be Montenegro’s most popular destination to visit. And while most of the city looks modern and new, there is also a beautiful old town.

How do you afford to travel? - I now earn a full time living through creating these YouTube videos, affiliate links, selling digital products and my clothing line. Is travelling solo safe? - I would argue the answer is almost always yes! As long as you use your common sense and you follow your own government's guidelines about travelling in that country. I have made several videos on backpacking safety on my channel.

map of Montenegro

Montenegro (/ˌmɒntɪˈniːɡroʊ, -ˈneɪɡroʊ, -ˈnɛɡroʊ/ (audio speaker iconlisten); Montenegrin: Crna Gora,[a] Црна Гора, lit. 'Black Mountain', pronounced [tsr̩̂ːnaː ɡǒra]; Albanian: Mali i zi) is a country in Southeastern Europe. It is located on the Adriatic Sea and is a part of the Balkans, sharing borders with Serbia to the northeast, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the north and west, Kosovo[c] to the east, Albania to the southeast, the Adriatic Sea and Croatia to the southwest, and maritime boundary with Italy. Podgorica, the capital and largest city, covers 10.4% of Montenegro's territory of 13,812 square kilometres (5,333 sq mi), and is home to roughly 30% of its total population of 621,000.

During the Early Medieval period, three principalities were located on the territory of modern-day Montenegro: Duklja, roughly corresponding to the southern half; Travunia, the west; and Rascia proper, the north. The Principality of Zeta emerged in the 14th and 15th centuries. From the late 14th century to the late 18th century, large parts of southern Montenegro were ruled by the Venetian Republic and incorporated into Venetian Albania. The name Montenegro was first used to refer to the country in the late 15th century. After falling under Ottoman rule, Montenegro regained its independence in 1696 under the rule of the House of Petrović-Njegoš, first as a theocracy and later as a secular principality. Montenegro's independence was recognised by the Great Powers at the Congress of Berlin in 1878. In 1910, the country became a kingdom.

After World War I, the kingdom became part of Yugoslavia. Following the breakup of Yugoslavia, the republics of Serbia and Montenegro together proclaimed a federation. Following an independence referendum held in May 2006, Montenegro declared its independence and the confederation peacefully dissolved.

Montenegro has an upper middle-income economy and ranks 48th in the Human Development Index. It is a member of the United Nations, NATO, the World Trade Organization, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, the Council of Europe, and the Central European Free Trade Agreement. Montenegro is also a founding member of the Union for the Mediterranean, and is currently in the process of joining the European Union Montenegro is divided into twenty-four municipalities (opština). This includes 21 District-level Municipalities and 2 Urban Municipalities, with two subdivisions of Podgorica municipality, listed below. Each municipality can contain multiple cities and towns. Historically, the territory of the country was divided into nahije.

Walking in HERCEG NOVI / Montenegro ????????- 4K 60fps (UHD)

Herceg Novi / Montenegro is a coastal town located at the Western entrance to the Bay of Kotor, Coming from Dubrovnik / Croatia on the way to Kotor it is the first stops.

Herceg Novi was called Castelnuovo (New castle in Italian) between 1482 and 1797 as part of the Ottoman Empire. Nowadays it is a popular with Russian and Serbian tourists who enjoy its calm atmosphere, beautiful vantage points, and seaside promenade. With just around 33.000 inhabitants it is less crowded compared to the most popular Montenegro vacation places Kotor and Budva.

We start our tour at the top castle, walk all around there and head downhill and around the sea. There we see the promenade before we walk around more, always taking the many steps going up and down the hillside. We end our tour with the beautiful sunset overlooking the lower sea castle ruins.

The Ultimate Balkan Roadtrip | 6 countries in 7 days.

We decided to do a Balkan road trip in 7 days. We planned this trip 4 days in advance by renting a Citroen C3 and booking airline tickets to Bulgaria. What initially was an impulsive, unplanned trip ended with a breathtaking experience. The Balkans offer unlimited beauty and variety. The six countries are so close yet so different.

Serbia and Bulgaria did not make the cut, mainly due to the excessively beautiful footage of Montenegro.

One tip, do not show off your expensive stuff. We experienced some uncomfortable and unpleasant situations.

If I were to do it again, the roadtrip would be in Montenegro, Croatia and Albania. North Macedonia is worth a visit as well.

The itinerary is the following: Sofia, Bulgaria - Skopje, North Macedonia - Albania - Podgorica, Montenegro - Dubrovnik, Croatia - Sarajevo, Serbia - Sofia, Bulgaria.

Budva, Montenegro: Old Town(Stari Grad) Walking Tour | 4K

The old town is Budva’s trademark. It is raised on the island, which used to be connected with the land by a sandy covering and so it grew into a peninsula. The Old Budva’s town is a unique architectural and urban entity which is mentioned as a lodgment even in the antique period.Budva is one of the oldest urban centers in the Adriatic - it is more than 2.500 years old.

Enjoy the walk!

Location: Budva, Montenegro

Tara Canyon Zip Line - Montenegro

There are three zip lines in the Tara canyon, located at the famous Tara bridge. We tried out two of them.
Pure joy and an adrenaline rush awaits you at the Extreme Zip Line Tara, the longest (1050 m), fastest (80-120 km/h), nearest to the river (40m), going along the river.
The second zip line goes parallel to the bridge with a length of 750 m, with about 60 km/h a bit slower but still spectacular with its view to the bridge and the canyon.
See yourself!

Montenegro Mountains

Montenegro adventure with full of memories and beautiful places.Exploring Montenegro mountains and famous tourist spot destination.

Tara bridge
As the roadway on this bridge stands 172 metres (564 ft) above the Tara River, there are really miraculous views on the Tara River Canyon in all seasons but it seems even more special and more fabulous in autumn (October) when some really amazing autumn colours adorn this wild landscape. You can try a zip line adventure from one side of the canyon to another if you are an adrenaline seeker.

Durmitor national park
This breathtaking national park was formed by glaciers and is traversed by rivers and underground streams. Along the Tara river canyon, which has the deepest gorges in Europe, the dense pine forests are interspersed with clear lakes and harbour a wide range of endemic flora.

Lovcen national park
The national park Lovcen covers the central and the highest part of the mountain Lovcen and with total area of 62.2 square kilometres. Established in 1952, Lovcen is also full of the rich historical, cultural and architectural heritage protected by the national park. The area has numerous elements of national construction such as the old houses and village guvna. The cottages in katuns, summer settlements of cattle breeders are also typical for this part of Montenegro.

The entrance fee for the national park is 2€ (children 0-7 years – free).

The visitors of the park have the Information Centre at their disposal. The centre has a guide service which is available to organised groups as well as to the tourists. The tourists can also get guide maps with marked walking and hiking trails and various advertising materials about the park.

What to do at National park Lovcen?

A visit to Njegos Mausoleum:

The biggest and most important monument of Lovcen national park is Petar Petrovic Njegos (famous poet and philosopher) Mausoleum. The magnificent mausoleum is situated at the top of its second-highest peak, Jezerski Vrh (1657 m). Getting there takes a bit of a hard work because you need to climb 461 steps up to the entry where two granite giants guard the tomb of Montenegro's greatest writer. Don't miss visiting this attraction since the view from the mausoleum is breathtaking and it gives you the best panoramic view of Montenegro.

Perast Montenegro ???????? 4K Walking Tour September 2021

This is a Perast Montenegro 4K Walking Tour video taken on September 2021. This was my second visit to Perast and each time I enjoy my visit. Perast is listed in the UNESCO world heritage sites. It is a small but charming town with one of the most picturesque waterfront and views of Kotor Bay along with two small islands of St. George and Our Lady of the Rocks. It is definitely a must see if you are in Montenegro.

The island, which is adorned with the Roman Catholic Church of the same name, is located opposite Perast. It represents one of the main tourist attractions in this part of the Adriatic, and in the bay. Two local fishermen came across a rock on which they found an icon of the Virgin Mary. They took it to Perast, but the icon disappeared. As soon as they sailed the next time by the sea, they found the icon in its original place. The news about the miracle spread, so the citizens decided to build a Church in that place as a sign of gratitude to the Holy Mother of God. However, the area was not suitable for building a church, so the local sailors, honouring this place, threw stones and an artificial island was made in the middle of the sea.
