Enna, Sicily, Italy in 4K (UHD) HDR

#Enna is located in the very center of #Sicily and is located at the top of a plateau at an altitude of 931 meters above sea level. The history of the city goes back centuries.
The necropolises found near the city date back to the Neolithic era. Until 1926, Enna was called Castrogiovanni.
On the territory of Enna, ancient Roman coins were found, according to which they found the name of the ancient city - HENNA.
On the oldest coins of the ancient Greek period, Enna is called ΗΕΝΝΑΙΟΝ.
Historically, Enna has been an important agricultural center since the days of Arab rule.
Most of the local wheat is still grown in the surrounding fields.
So it is likely that the pasta, which can be tasted all over Italy, began with Enna.
The only province in Sicily that is landlocked.
Enna is also steeped in myths and legends, thanks to the ancient cult of Demeter, the ancient goddess of grain and earth.
The name of the city was given by its first inhabitants - the ancient Greeks, and over the years either Arabs or Italians changed it in their own way,
until in 1927 everything returned to normal - the name of Anne was approved again.
Agriculture, widespread in the region, was the main source of life for the city's population.
In addition, information about ancient thermal resorts has come down to us - the found baths were the resting place of the Greeks.

Roman Villa of the Casale, Piazza Armerina, Sicily

The Roman Villa in Piazza Armerina has the best preserved Roman floor tiles (mosaics) in the world. There are 63 rooms, 42 of which have extensively designed floor tiles. Most of the villa is under cover and you can't, for obvious reasons, walk on the tile floors. They have an extensive network of connecting walkways for us tourists. If you are facinated by floor tiles, this is the place to visit in Sicily.

Enna - Sicily - Italy

Centuripe 4K

The town of Centuripe (EN) is picturesquely perched on a mountain system (730 s.l.m.m.) which rises majestically halfway between Catania and Enna. From the top, the panorama is dominated by the imposing mass of Etna and the gaze sweeps over the surrounding river valleys (valleys of Salso, Dittaino and Simeto) and the Plain of Catania, up to the mountain ranges of the Erei and Nebrodi for the radius of about fifty kilometers. The population is 5,800 inhabitants. The economy is mainly agricultural and artisanal, but sectors linked to the tertiary sector are also beginning to make their way.
Centuripe, in addition to the landscape beauties, which make it a sort of Taormina of the hinterland, also offers remarkable archaeological remains. It was founded by the Sicilians around the eighth century BC. and from then on it was inhabited without interruption until the 13th century AD, when it was destroyed by Frederick II of Swabia and re-founded three centuries later. The urban layout, therefore, with its picturesque alleys designed for animal traction roads, is still the sixteenth-century one.

Cerami, Province of Enna, SICILY!

On this episode of You, Me and Sicily we take you to the Province of Enna to the hilltop town of Cerami. We explore the famous Battle of Cerami between the Normans and Muslims in 1063. This was a one of the most significant in the Norman conquest of Sicily. We also talk to locals about the myths and legends around the Madonna della Lavina . Plus we go up to the castle and visit some churches .

PETRALIA SOTTANA E PETRALIA SOPRANA: Tra i borghi più belli d'Italia - Viaggio in Sicilia - MADONIE

???? ISCRIVITI AL CANALE E CLICCA SULLA CAMPANA ????

Voi credete che Petra sia in Giordania. E avete ragione.
