TALLEST STATUE IN CEBU | CARCAR CITY (6th Tallest in the Philippines)
The Meditative Garden of the Sacred Heart in the mountain barangay of Can-asujan, Carcar City towers the sky at 29.2 meters (96 feet). Inside a private property of Engineer Emelia Bacus, the towering figure is arpound 10 kilometers from the National Highway. The Christ figure lits up at night and has a stair where one can climb up reaching the heart level of the statue.

How to go to Carcar City
If coming from Cebu City head to South Bus Terminal and ride the Ceres bus bound for Oslob. Ask the driver to drop you off near Carcar Public Market.
Ride a tricycle from the bus stop to the market.
Travel time from Cebu to Carcar - 1 hour or more depending on the traffic.
You can find the Chicharon area along the highway near the rotunda.
How to go to Simala Shrine from Carcar City
Ride a bus bound for Oslob and ask them to drop you off at Brgy. Simala Sibonga.
You can find a habal-habal or trike that will take you to the shrine.
Or from Carcar, hire a tricycle that will take you straight to the shrine.

Visiting Theotokos Shrine
In this video I'm gonna show you the Theotokos Shrine, where the dancing Sun appeared 29 years ago. located in Perrelos Carcar City, Cebu Philippines.
Inspired by the visit of the Pilgrim Virgin of Fatima in 1989, Fr. John Rona obtained permission from Cardinal Vidal, Archbishop of Cebu Island, to build a shrine to host the Perpetual Dawn Rosary, a Philippine devotion in which people gather before dawn to begin their day with prayer to Our Lady. He was unable to find an appropriate site, though, until several people dreamed it should be located on Perrelos Hill near the city of Carcar. Soon the property went up for sale at a very low price. The shrine complex, nestled between mountains and sea, includes a large pavilion with a stylized Virgin of the Sign icon, and a 20' white statue of Our Lady of Fatima. On Sept 9, 1992, when Cardinal Vidal blessed the statue under the title of Theotokos (Mother of God), many people witnessed the miracle of the sun dancing across the sky, spinning, and changing colors. This recurred for five months, attracting many vistors.

In 2021 the new public market in Carcar City was opened. A visit has been on my list for a while so I ventured out on a Sunday morning taking a Ceres bus from Cebu City. The market itself is very modern with individual stallholders having metal roller shutters to secure their produce at closing time. One of the main attractions are the Lechon stalls, always busy on a weekend and of course one can't refuse to partake in the delicacy whilst there ! Within the covered market there are the usual goods and items you will find in any Filipino market. Outside there are vendors also selling their produce under tarps. I couldn't possibly come away from Carcar without a purchase of their famous Chicharon - certainly the best ive tasted as it is always fresh, right from the source. #carcarcity #cebu #philippinemarkets
