Dji / Batu Kawan / Pulau Aman / The South Seberang Perai District / Penang / Malaysia / 4K Ultra HD

Batu Kawan is an island in the city of Seberang Perai, Penang, Malaysia. It is geographically separated from the rest of Seberang Perai by the Jawi and Tengah rivers. As of 2010, Batu Kawan contained a population of 5,537.Long considered a quiet agricultural backwater, Batu Kawan is undergoing rapid development, which was sparked by the completion of the Second Penang Bridge that connects the town with Batu Maung on Penang Island in 2014. A host of multinational firms, including Boston Scientific, Western Digital Corporation, Bose Corporation and Bosch, have set up manufacturing plants within the Batu Kawan Industrial Park.[4] In addition, Batu Kawan is home to Design Village, Malaysia's largest outlet mall. Among the ongoing developments within Batu Kawan are an IKEA store, Aspen Vision City and Utropolis, the latter of which is expected to serve as a hub for tertiary education.

The agricultural village of Batu Kawan had been in existence since the 19th century, when the area was home to sugar, coconut and rubber estates. In particular, sugar plantations in the area had been run by Chinese settlers as early as 1796. Granite was extracted from the area as well; the granite was then sent across the Penang Strait to George Town on tongkangs departing from the Batu Musang Jetty. In the 1960s, the aforementioned plantations were cleared to make way for larger palm oil estates. In 1990, the Penang Development Corporation (PDC), a statutory body of the Penang state government, acquired 6,000 hectares (60 km2) of land in Batu Kawan. The Penang State Stadium, completed in 2000, was one of the first development projects undertaken by the PDC, followed by the Batu Kawan Industrial Park and the Penang Science Park.

In 2008, the Malaysian federal government commenced the construction of the Second Penang Bridge, which links Batu Kawan with Batu Maung on Penang Island. The completion of the bridge in 2014 proved to be a catalyst to Batu Kawan's contemporary development, with the town being touted as Penang's third satellite township after Bayan Baru on the island and Seberang Jaya in Central Seberang Perai. In 2012, the PDC launched the Bandar Cassia residential development, which is modelled after Singapore's Housing and Development Board schemes.[2][10] This was soon followed by larger property developments, such as Utropolis and Aspen Vision City. In 2015, the Penang state government declared the launch of a new development corridor within the South Seberang Perai District, which encompasses Batu Kawan and Nibong Tebal.

Penang State Stadium (Malay: Stadium Negeri Pulau Pinang) is a multi-purpose stadium in Batu Kawan, South Seberang Perai, Penang, Malaysia. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium has a capacity of 40,000 people. It was built in 2000. The stadium has been built to host the 8th Sukma Games (Malaysian Games) in 2000. In 2007, this stadium hosted the Malaysian FA Cup Final.

Aman Island is an islet off the coast of Seberang Perai in the State of Penang, Malaysia. This islet, along with the adjacent Gedung Island, falls within the jurisdiction of the South Seberang Perai District.Known as the Island of Peace, it is a home to a traditional Malay village. Places of interest in Aman Island include Jalan Telaga Emas, Batu Perompak, and the nearby Gedung Island. Aman Island and Gedung Island were once owned by Mr. Mohamad Saad and his older brother. Mr. Mohamad Saad died at the age of 99.

Seberang Prai, Butterworth and Batu Kawan Development, Penang

Let's explore Northern Region Most Developing District - Seberang Prai, Penang in Malaysia.

Info:
Seberang Prai is a narrow hinterland on the Malaysia Peninsula opposite Penang Island, which, together with the island, forms the Malaysian state of Penang.

It borders Kedah to the north and east, and Perak to the south. Its principal town is Butterworth

As of 2010, Seberang Perai had a population of 815,767, making it the second most populous local government area in Malaysia.

Originally a part of Kedah, the hinterland was ceded to the British East India Company towards the end of the 18th century. Named after a British officer, Province Wellesley was acquired to provide more agricultural land and as a defensive bulwark against any cross-strait invasion from the mainland.

Seberang Prai has witnessed substantial economic development in the decades after Malaya's independence.

Massive industrial estates have been established within Seberang Prai, while the relocation of the Port of Penang's core operations to Butterworth in 1974 has also boosted the town's economy.

Improvements in connectivity and transportation were facilitated by several major projects, such as the constructions of the North–South Expressway, the Penang Bridge and the Second Penang Bridge.

Today, Seberang Prai forms part of Greater Penang.

PENANG ISLAND in 4K - Travel Guide to MALAYSIA. ALL sights + Drone

Penang is also called 'the pearl of the Orient'. This city has an illustrious past and a lot of hidden treasures. It is a paradise for travel enthusiasts, with a lot of history, culture, good food and architecture. Because it was a British colony, there are still many colonial buildings. After that, the city of Georgetown became a trading post for the Chinese, who also left behind their historic structures. On the jetties on the water, they still live the traditional way. We also visit Little India, the oldest Thai temple, the skyscrapers and much more. After an earlier city trip in Kuala Lumpur, a visit to the jungle in Taman Negara, the high mountains in the Cameron Highlands and this journey of discovery in Penang, we will then conclude the journey on the wonderful island of Langkawi!

We make our trip through Malaysia during a year-long world tour. We may even continue to travel indefinitely. On New Year's Day we started in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the Canary Islands. Then you saw us in Oman, Cape Verde, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Tobago, Grenada, the Bahamas, the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, Brazil, Qatar, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam. Malaysia is already our nineteenth destination. Follow us on this world tour, first in Penang, the rest of Malaysia and then to many more beautiful destinations!
