Visiting the SHRIMP CAPITAL OF ECUADOR ???????????? Pedernales + Cojimies
Pedernales is famous for its shrimp and considered to have the best shrimp in Ecuador. The town itself is surrounded by shrimp farms and natural mangroves.
The heart of the 2016 earthquake, Pedernales was the hardest hit but is rebounding. We went on an Ecuadorian food tour in town and out in neighbouring Cojimies in the Manabi province.
This 7.8 earthquake destroyed 80% of the buildings in Pedernales Manabi. Many of the places we visited were rebuilt. I wanted to share this video as I think tourism can be a win-win situation by eating delicious food and supporting local businesses.

Texas Hill Country Getaway | Staying in a TINY CABIN, Pedernales Falls, & The Salt Lick BBQ!
We've been living (almost) full time in our van for 18 months now and have fallen in love with tiny living, so we decided to get a taste of (larger) tiny living and rent a tiny cabin in Dripping Springs, just outside of Austin!
We spent the weekend enjoying our cabin and its beautiful property, going to Pedernales Falls State Park, and eating BBQ from The Salt Lick. It was the perfect staycation!

Beautiful Pedernales River Central Texas
Pedernales River Flowing over and around huge slabs of limestone, the Pedernales River can be turbulent. But most often it is tranquil, and a great place to relax and recharge. We are just 30 miles west of Austin. Come over for an afternoon swim or hike, or load up your gear for an overnight adventure. The river awaits!
The Pedernales River courses 106 miles through the heart of Texas Hill Country. From its headwaters just west of Harper, through Gillespie County, Fredericksburg, Stonewall and Johnson City, and on to Lake Travis and the Colorado River, the Pedernales watershed represents the diverse culture, hydrology and landscape of much of the greater Hill Country region. The river basin features a high level of biodiversity, including endemic species such as the Pedernales River springs salamander and the Guadalupe bass, Texas’ state fish. The diverse habitats across the basin support a variety of species of conservation concern, including canyon mock-orange, swamp rabbit, and breeding populations of federally endangered black-capped vireo and golden cheeked warbler.

During our Carnival Panorama cruise, we did the Amazing City Tour for our Mazatlán excursion. The tour was with certified guide Armando Zatarain (from the company Viajes El Paraiso). There are many great places to visit in Mazatlán, the tour included stops at the following: World's Tallest Lighthouse, Playa Norte Coastline, Beatles Monument, Cliff Divers, Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, Malecón, Golden Zone, New Mazatlán, and Las Changueras. We had lunch at Tacos El Chile and ended the tour with some beach time at Las Palmas Beach Resort.
