I haven’t travel that much because of the Pandemic but I can say that my journey to Papaya Island is very rewarding.
This is not one of my greatest adventures but this memory will always have a special mark in my life. My adventures won’t end here, there’s more yet to come.

Scent of Green Papaya Resort Hotel in Alona Beach, Panglao, Bohol Philippines - A Review
My review of the Scent of Green Papaya Resort/Hotel in Bohol. If you're looking for a great hotel to stay at that's economical and modern, look no further than this hidden gem of a resort. It's basically just a few blocks from the beach in the Alona Beach area of Panglao, Bohol in the Philippines. I stayed here in February, right when Covid was flaring up and they were shutting down borders.
I booked the room using Agoda.com and paid about $60USD/night for a Superior King Room, which included a custom made breakfast every morning. The resort/hotel is about a five minute walk from the main road where the hustle and bustle is of Alona Beach, but if you don't feel like walking, they do have a shuttle taking you back and forth from the main road, which is lined with American-style restaurants (including McDonald's if that's your thing), as well as souvenir shops, tour kiosks etc.
The front desk staff was super cool and reminded me to choose my breakfast each evening so they could prepare it fresh for me in the morning. Also, they helped me call a ride for the ferry and also were amazing helping me book tours, including a snorkeling tour.
I had a great stay and highly recommend this place if you're looking for something different. There are lots of hotel options in Alona Beach, many of which are five times the price of this hotel. So if you're looking for something quaint, quiet, and cool, give Scent of Green Papaya a try! I would definitely stay here again if I were ever to return to Alona Beach.

Shimizu Island & Papaya Beach - El Nido, Palawan, Philippines - 4K Drone
Shimizu Island & Papaya Beach - El Nido, Palawan, Philippines - 4K Drone: Shimizu Island of El Nido, Palawan, Philippines is considered a nice snorkeling site because it is home to a variety of marine life. We saw different colorful fishes and corals beneath the clear blue waters. As we were exploring the reefs, I was surprised to find a heart shaped coral. That was so cool! The water was a little bit choppy that day but we still managed to enjoy ourselves.
Shimizu Island is named after a Japanese diver who died in an underwater tunnel in the side of the island. The island has a white-sand beach which is a favorite lunch area and picnic spot for tourists and locals. To avoid all the crowds, Elmar, our personal tour guide, took us to a different island and landed on a secluded beach all to ourselves. Elmar and his crew cooked and prepared delicious food for our lunch. I highly recommend you get a private tour so you can have the privacy and flexibility during your tour of El Nido, Palawan.
To end our day, we headed to Papaya Beach to unwind and relax. Papaya Beach of El Nido has a gently curving coastline covered with powdery white sand and backed by tall limestone cliffs. It is next to Seven Commandos Beach, separated by a large towering karst cliffs. Papaya Beach is normally not part of the tour menu so you will sometimes find the beach all to yourself. By the way, Papaya Beach is excellent for snorkeling because the reefs are literally a few feet away from the seashore.
