Top 10 Travel Attractions in Malta & Gozo

Top 10 Travel Attractions in Malta & Gozo according to Lonely Planet

10. St John's Co-Cathedral
St. Johns Co-Cathedral, located in Valletta, was built by the Knights of Malta between 1573 and 1578. The Church was designed by the Maltese military architect Glormu Cassar who designed several of the more prominent buildings in Valletta. The church is considered to be one of the finest examples of high Baroque architecture in Europe and one of the world's great cathedrals.

9. Hal Saflieni Hypogeum
The Hypogeum of Paola, Malta, literally meaning underground in Greek, is a subterranean structure dating to the Saflieni phase (3000-2500 BC) in Maltese prehistory. Thought to have been originally a sanctuary, it became a necropolis in prehistoric times and the remains of more than 7,000 individuals have been found. It is the only known prehistoric underground temple in the world.

8. Vittoriosa's Backstreets
The historic Vittoriosa Waterfront contains the former Palace of the General of the Galleys and the Order of St John's treasury. The area was refurbished in the early 2000s, and both buildings are used for other activities: the former is now a casino, while the latter is home to the Malta Maritime Museum.

7. Comino
Comino is an island of the Maltese archipelago between the islands of Malta and Gozo in the Mediterranean Sea, measuring 3.5 square kilometres in area. Named after the cumin seed that once flourished in the Maltese islands, Comino is noted for its tranquility and isolation. It has a permanent population of only four residents.

6. Hagar Qim & Mnajdra Temples
Ħaġar Qim is a megalithic temple complex found on the Mediterranean island of Malta, dating from the Ġgantija phase (3600-3200 BC). 4. Sunday Lunch in Marsaxlokk
Marsaxlokk is a picturesque fishing village on the south-east side of Malta, it has an ancient history being the site of a Roman temple dedicated to the goddess Juno, but no ancient remains are visible. It is rare as a Maltese seaside village in that it has no modern buildings such as hotels spoiling it and none of the traditional housing has as of yet been destroyed to make way for prefab rental apartments. On Sundays there is a fish market where one can get the best fish available, a particular local favourite is the Lampuki.

3. Victoria
Victoria is the capital of Gozo. Victoria is the name given in 1897 by the British government on the occasion of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, at the request of the Bishop of Malta, Mons. 2. Valletta
Valletta is the capital of the island nation of Malta. A harbour city, Valletta preserves much of its 16th century architectural heritage built under the Hospitallers. Valletta was one of the earliest sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Referred to colloquially as Il-Belt (The City), it takes its name from its founder, Grandmaster Jean Parisot de la Valette.

1. Azure Window, Dwejra

AVOID MALTA IN 2023 - It's Not What You Think ????????

Just an honest video of what's it like in St. Paul's Bay - Bugibba & Qawra in Malta. This video represents my personal opinion, plus the presented state of things here. Sustainability levels of this island are becoming exhausted.

St. Paul's Bay, Malta is a local council consisting of Bugibba, Qawra and St. Paul's Bay residential areas. Full of shops, restaurants, hotels and couple of local seafood stores. It is also the most populated town in Malta, and the town with most of the construction works after St. Julian's and Sliema.

Asking people How Much Rent they Pay in Malta

Asking people how much rent they pay in Malta ? In todays video i met people that are living in Malta and asked them how much rent they pay. Some of the answers shocked me, as poeple who moved to Malta are paying a sharing room for €375 per month. Some other people are paying €950, some €1400 and even €4500 per month. The rent in Malta for accommodation is different according to the size of the apartment and the locality. Needless to say the rent in Malta has gone high up in the past 5 years and many people are not happy about that.

Is it safe to live in Malta as a FOREIGN woman ?

One multinational city to live in Malta

If you wonder where to live in Malta, one great multination city is Paola. This is a city with around 10 000 citizens. This city is in the central area of Malta, on a 15min bus ride to Valletta, the capital city of Malta. Paola is beautiful, very busy, lots of shops, restaurants and connections around Malta. I wonder if this is one of the best places for expats to live in Malta, it is affordable and property prices are on the cheaper side.

Take time to visit The Hypogeum in Paola Malta - an Azure Malta recommendation

Henri, the Guest Relations Co-ordinator at Azure Malta's resort, the Radisson Resort & Spa, Malta Golden Sands recommends that you take the time to visit The Hypogeum, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Hypogeum of Paola, Malta, literally meaning underground in Greek, is a subterranean structure dating to the Saflieni phase in Maltese prehistory.

Reasons to Visit the Hypogeum:

1. Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum is a unique site inscribed on the World Heritage List as a site that bears a unique testimony to a cultural tradition which has disappeared.
2. The only prehistoric burial site which is accessible to the general public.
3. Paintings in red ochre, which decorate some of the walls within the site, are the oldest and only prehistoric paintings recorded on the Maltese Islands.
4. Beautifully carved features in imitation of architectural elements common in the above-ground temples, including an example of what a roof of these structures would have looked like.

This video clip is the first of a series of videos, promoting places of interest in Malta and Gozo, brought to you by Azure Malta, leaders in vacation ownership in Europe.

Visit

Paola City, Malta | part 2 - Main Road & Shops

Paola, Malta

Paola is named after Grand Master Antoine de Paule, who laid the foundation stone in 1626.

Paola is renowned for the Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum, the Basilica of Christ the King (the largest church in the Maltese Islands), Antoine de Paule Square and its shopping centres, the Good Friday procession, and its football club, Hibernians FC. The Mariam Al-Batool Mosque, the only mosque in Malta, as well as an Islamic Cultural Centre are found in Paola. The country's correctional facilities (Corradino prison) and the largest burial grounds, the Addolorata Cemetery are also within the limits of Paola.

There are two parish churches, one dedicated to Christ the King and the other to Our Lady of Lourdes. The feast of Christ the King is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of July and Our Lady of Lourdes is celebrated on the first Sunday after 17 August. The parish also has a Franciscan church dedicated to Saint Anthony, in the Għajn Dwieli zone of the parish. St. Ubaldesca Church is the oldest church in Paola and was the first parish church there. In 2008 the church underwent minimal restoration. Villa Perellos, named after grand master Ramon Perellos y Roccaful, is a local historical landmark.

Malta – This Is One Of Europe’s Most Amazing Countries

We were traveling to Europe and a must place we wanted to travel to was the island nation of Malta. Well we have to say that we are so glad we did.

The Maltese archipelago is made up of five islands but only the three largest islands, Malta, Gozo and Comino are inhabited.

Malta is such a beautifully amazing country. The weather is awesome as Malta has on average 300 sunny days per year. The food is amazing and the people are wonderful.

For such a small island nation, Malta has such an enormous history and amazing architecture from fortress cities like the capital Valletta through to some of the oldest megalithic temples on earth.

Walking from Paola to Bormla on 23.2.2023, at approximately 2 pm.

The temperature was 18 °C

This was my first time testing the S-Log2 gamma profile. Let's just say there's some room for improvement.

Local market in Malta NOBODY talks about !

Local market in Malta nobody talks about. Every Thursday in the village Zurrieq there is a traditional Maltese market that starts very early in the morning. It was my first time to visit the market as well and it was an amazing experience. I have been living in Malta for over 8 years, and something interesting to do in Malta is to visit local markets. The most famous one is in Marsaxlokk which all tourists knows about, but this market in Malta on Thursday has cheaper prices and lots of choices. Predominately people from Malta were in this market and there were few tourists. If you are coming in holiday in Malta or you live here definitely visit this market that nobody talks about, great experience!

Location of the market:

Opening times:
Mornings only typically 07:00 - 11:00
