After our first stop in Yogyakarta ( we took the bus to Semarang to fly from there to Pangkalanbuun. The house boat tour started in Kumai and going on Sekonyer River into Tanjung Puting National Park.
We booked our 4D3N tour with Andreas from He picked us up from the hotel but was obviously sick so he had organised Husni as our guide who did also a great job. We paid in July in peak season for the private tour for 2 person about IDR 9.2m. We loved this tour and were happy that we made the booking in advance because all boats got fully booked. You can decide on how many days you want to spend on the boat.

TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK: ORANGUTANS IN INDONESIA
Tanjung Puting National Park. Perhaps the best place to see Orangutans in the wild. Borneo aka Kalimantan is one of only two islands in the world you can see these animals. They are not actually monkeys like many people believe, they belong to the ape family, and share a lot of their biology with us.
We spent 2 days cruising the rivers of Tanjung Puting National Park to see these animals. Many of them are rescues, taken back from the illegal pet trade. This allows us to see them up close, as they still have to be fed by humans. Indonesia is a paradise for nature geeks. These animals are basically like celebrities, and seeing them like this was an incredible experience. You need to check out Wonderful Indonesia!

Bismillahirrohmanirrohiim,
Assalamu'alaikum Sahabat Suka Traveling Indonesia, Alhamdulillah saat ini adalah hari ke 16 kami menjalani roadtrip Kalimantan, meninggalkan kota tempat tinggal kami, Samarinda. Kali ini kami jalan-jalan ke Kota Pangkalan Bun di Kalimantan Tengah. Rencana awal kami mau camping di pantai, tapi karena kami tidak menemukan pantai yang cocok akhirnya kami cuman numpang buka dapur buat makan siang saja.
Setelah itu perjalanan kami lanjutkan menuju perbatasan Kalimantan Tengah - Kalimantan Barat. Karena keluar Pangkalan Bun sudah terlalu malam jadi kami bermalam dijalan. Saksikan perjalanan selanjutnya kami menuju perbatasan KalTeng-KalBar di next video.

The Unexpected Journey To Tanjung Puting National Park, Central Borneo
After exploring Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, my family and I decided to drive to Central Kalimantan to cruise the rivers in Tanjung Puting National Park, which is one of the largest tropical swamp forest that conserves endangered primates, birds, hundreds of plant species and many more. We also encountered several crocodiles by the river on our small boat. Not to mention some memorable places we came across on our way to Central Kalimantan which I will always be grateful for.
This whole trip is documented with my phone as I lost the camera battery door whilst hiking, but that didn't ruin the fun we had. Phones are light! ????
and I will definitely return one day and stay overnight to experience this national park even more. So yep! This vlog is mainly series of videos I took with my phone.
I hope you enjoy this and somehow inspire you to visit more places in Indonesia. So far, I am loving Kalimantan!

Tanjung Puting - Kumai Harbour Kalimantan Indonesia
Kumai was once part of the Kutaringin Monarchy. It was originally led by Pangeran Bendahara, who later gave Kumai to Muhammad Cik, Kumai's village leader. Cik then gave his position to Amsar, who was chosen to be regent of Kumai.
Kumai was a base for Indonesian fighters attacking the Dutch and Japanese on January 14, 1946. Many soldiers died at the base, but it was maintained. To commemorate the battle, the government built a monument and the Taman Bahagia Park in Sei. On Tendang, and on every January 14, people celebrate in the park to remember Kumai's soldiers. The Kobar regent always attends.
Later, the regent H. Abdul Razak signed a region regulation regarding district forming in a plenary council meeting. Seven factions of council supporters agreed and accepted the Raperda that divided the Kumai District into the specified regions: Pangkalan Lada, Pangkalan Banteng, and Kumai as the main district. Razak later explained, By forming two new districts, we expect that it can support the public service in governance affairs, development issue and social affairs.

Indonesia – Blue Planet Odyssey in Kumai
After Lombok, the BPO participants sailed to Kumai on Kalimantan to see the orangutans’ conservation area. At first it looked like a visit would not be possible due to the uncontrolled mass forest dfires on Borneo but luckily rain did stop the fire in the area (after months of damagesL. All participants did go on a river boat cruise to the different stations. Harry Rustaman is the man to see to get the best boat crew to take you to day or overnight tours: 4 to 6 for overnight/ 8-10 for day tours. The guides were excellent and the crew was great, especially the cook who had fresh and varied local meals prepared so many times a day! Orangutans and other types of monkeys were well worth the visit but so was the boat river trip itself! Filmed in November 2015!
