In 1888, Pangani was the center of an armed movement to resist German colonial conquest of the entire mainland Tanzanian coast. The local leader of the resistance was Abushiri ibn Salim al-Harthi, a Swahili-speaker born in Zanzibar who owned a small estate at the suburb that now bears his name.

We went on a short honeymoon to Tarangire National Park and Pangani – I thought I should share some impressions with you
We stayed at Tarangire Safari Lodge, which is the most welcoming and lovely lodge I could imagine, plus it has an awesome view ;)
On our game drives we saw so many animals and except for the quite chilly weather, our stay was really perfect!
Then, we went on a ten-hour drive to go to Pangani. On the way we grabbed delicious lunch at Courage Café in Moshi.
Our accommodation in Pangani was Emayani Lodge. Not only do they have the emptiest beach I have ever been to, but they also have an amazing project for sea turtles.
Luckily, the weather here was rather hot. We enjoyed swimming in the ocean (the water is very clean except for some seaweed) and in the pool of the lodge. They spoiled us with their best service and delicious food. We took walks at the beach, watched the sunrise, and saw some mangroves.
Sadly, it was time to say good-bye, we will definitely come back.
Since our flight back to Mwanza got cancelled, we spent three nights in Arusha in this amazing AirBnB, Acacia Grove. It is the perfect place to unwind!
