► PRETPLATI SE na moj kanal:
► PRATI ME NA INSTAGRAMU:

Sarajevo Travel Guide - Bosnia and Herzegovina Fascinating Experience

Sarajevo Travel Guide - Bosnia and Herzegovina Fascinating Experience

Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is nestled in a valley, mainly within the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but with parts in the Republika Srpska entity. Sarajevo is one of the most historically interesting and varied cities in Europe. It is a place where the Western & Eastern Roman Empire split; where the people of the Roman Catholic west, Eastern Orthodox east and the Ottoman south, met, lived and warred. It has been both an example of historical turbulence and the clash of civilizations, as well as a beacon of hope for peace and tolerance through multi-cultural integration. Sarajevo is not a huge city - 395,133 people live in its urban area, but it is very livable, vibrant and busy. The city is historically famous for its traditional religious diversity, with adherents of Islam, Orthodoxy, Catholicism and Judaism coexisting there for centuries.

Sarajevo is a cosmopolitan European capital with a unique Eastern twist that is a delight to visit. The people are very friendly, be they Bosniaks, Croats, or Serb. There is very little crime, and the city ranks as one of the safest in South Eastern Europe. The town is very tourist friendly, especially in the city center.

Four distinct seasons with warm or hot summers and cold winters. Sarajevo is basically on the mountain so winters can be slightly colder here than in other capital cities in the region. You should not be surprised if you see some snow in mid October, but also sometimes in May, although it rarely occurs and stays on the ground for a very short period. Autumn can be cool, but during that period Sarajevo is very foggy and gray with little bit of sunshine.

Sarajevo is close to the center of the triangular shape of Bosnia and Herzegovina in southeastern Europe. Sarajevo city proper consists of four municipalities (or in Bosnian and Croatian: općina, in Serbian: opština): Centar (Center), Novi Grad (New City), Novo Sarajevo (New Sarajevo), and Stari Grad (Old City), while Metropolitan area of Sarajevo (Greater Sarajevo area) includes these and the neighbouring municipalities of Ilidža, Hadžići, Vogošća and Ilijaš.

Sports-related tourism uses the legacy facilities of the 1984 Winter Olympics, especially the skiing facilities on the nearby mountains of Bjelašnica, Igman, Jahorina, Trebević, and Treskavica. Sarajevo's 600 years of history, influenced by both Western and Eastern empires, makes it a tourist attraction with splendid variations. Sarajevo has hosted travellers for centuries, because it was an important trading center during the Ottoman and Austria-Hungarian empires and because was a natural stop for many routes between East and West. Examples of popular destinations in Sarajevo include the Vrelo Bosne park, the Sarajevo cathedral, and the Gazi Husrev-beg's Mosque. Tourism in Sarajevo is chiefly focused on historical, religious, cultural sites and winter sports.

Sarajevo is host to many parks throughout the city and on the outskirts of city. A popular activity among Sarajevo citizens is street chess, usually played at Trg oslobođenja Alija Izetbegović. Veliki Park is the largest green area in the center of Sarajevo. It's nestled between Titova, Koševo, Džidžikovac, Tina Ujevića and Trampina Streets and in the lower part there is a monument dedicated to the Children of Sarajevo. Hastahana is a popular place to relax in the Austro-Hungarian neighborhood of Marijin Dvor. Goat's Bridge, locally known as Kozija Ćuprija, in the Miljacka Canyon is also a popular park destination along the Dariva walkway and river Miljacka. On December 24 of 2012, a park hosting two brass sculptures resembling two mourning mothers was dedicated as the Friendship Park, commemorating over 45 years of friendship between Sarajevo and Baku.

Sarajevo is also famous for its city lookouts; including an observation deck on Avaz Twist Tower, Park Prinčeva restaurant, Vidikovac lookout (Mt. Trebević), Zmajevac lookout and Yellow/White fortresses lookouts (in Vratnik) as well as numerous other rooftops throughout the city (i.e. Alta Shopping Center, BBI Center, Hotel Hecco Deluxe).

( Sarajevo - Bosnia and Herzegovina ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Sarajevo . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Sarajevo - Bosnia and Herzegovina

Foreigner Goes to INSANE Bosnian Football Match in Sarajevo!! | Bosnia Travel Guide

Real football, flares, explosions and fan marches. What I saw tonight was nothing I'd ever experienced before...

When locals told me of a football match between 2 big rivals from the same city, FC Sarajevo and FC Željezničar, I knew i had to go!

I didn't know what to expect. When I got to the stadium, there were seemingly endless crowds of fans and scores of Riot Police on standby in case things got out of hand.

The energy of the stadium of unmistakable. The fans were extremely passionate and you could feel they were completely unified for each of their teams.

The Ultras (ultra fanatic supporters) were placed in netted sections on opposite ends of the stadium and both groups had flares and fireworks. For the Ultras, football isn't the only game played in the stadium. Marching in their thousands, lighting flares, and throwing fireworks, you could tell they were trying their hardest to intimidate the opposing team, and supporters.

At one point, the match had to be paused due to lack of visibility as a result of all the smoke and flares thrown onto the field.

I'd never experienced this sort of thing in Australia, or anywhere else in the world. It was a really chaotic atmosphere.

In the end, FC Željezničar won 5-2. Both teams played strong, and always challenged for the ball which was great to see. The refs also didn't stop the game every minute like I've seen in many other games so that was fantastic.

If you're looking for a culturally immersive and authentic local travel experience in Bosnia and Herzegovina, you should consider visiting a football match in Sarajevo - it will be like nothing else you've seen before!

3. A bustling, bubbling and surprising European capital that's now heading full throttle into the modern age, Sarajevo has all but shed its former reputation as a ravaged war zone. Memorials to the fallen and killed from the tumultuous conflicts of the 1990s do still fringe the city's districts, but there's certainly a newfound confidence and panache flowing through the central streets; one that embodies a real defiance for the atrocities of war. Think striking mosques looming over al fresco beer bars, aromatic Turkic restaurants peppering enchanting bazaars, pretty city parks and arched stone bridges, all underpinned by modern art museums, jazz fests and more!
2. Home to the best-loved ski field in all of Bosnia and former host of the Winter Olympics, Jahorina draws snow lovers and summertime hikers alike to its high perch amidst the pine-spotted upper levels of the Dinaric Alps. Of course it's the lifts and pistes here that take centre stage for most travelers, with no fewer than 10 chairs and a planned gondola serving 30 kilometers of groomed alpine runs. But Jahorina isn't only for when the snow falls; not with the hunting lodges and pre-historic wonders of the Orlovaca cave system nearby, along with the pretty town of Pale beckoning from the valley below.
1. Bisected by the babbling Lasva River as it flows through the central mountains of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the pretty mid-sized town of Travnik does well to balance its interesting past as the capital and stronghold of the erstwhile viziers of this old Ottoman sub-region and modern day adventure sports and outdoorsy draws. The first aspect manifests in a curious array of traditional eastern-style edifices and monuments, two Ottoman clock towers (unique throughout the country) and a handsome 15th-century old town heart. The second aspect makes its home on the slopes of Vlasic Mountain on the horizon, which is now one of Bosnia's most celebrated skiing, Nordic walking and hiking destinations.

Exploring The BEST Things To Do In BANJA LUKA!!

Today w'ere exploring the best things to do in BANJA LUKA!!!

► Instagram -
► Facebook -

I'll be the first to admit that I knew absolutely nothing about Banja Luka before we arrived. We booked our flight without having any idea what we'd see or do when we arrived, but that's the beautiful thing about travel. You jump into the unknown & come out better for it. Come with us as we explore the things to do in Banja Luka!

We kicked off with some Fabricka Coffee and I don’t believe this coffee shop was specifically local, but it was the only one that I could find that was open today and not a cafe LOL.

One of the first things you’ll see when you google Banja Luka is a picture of Christ The Savior Orthodox Cathedral. It’s the most famous structure in the city and serves as the center of town. It was originally built in 1929 but was partially destroyed in 1941 by bombings during WW2. The present cathedral is architecturally identical to the original and was completed in 2004.

While you’re nearby also be sure to take a peak at the President of the Republic of Srpska’s House. It’s right across from the cathedral and is pretty clearly an important building based on the security presence.

Right in the center of town is Gospodska Street. It’s the oldest and busiest street in Banja Luka & has a host of clothing, jewelry, and other various shops. Gospodska translates to Gentleman’s which has been around since 1878, but the actual name of the street is Veselin Maslesa Street.

For lunch we picked Banjalučki Splav, or Banja Luka Raft, for lunch because you can’t beat this location. It’s right on the Vrbas River and looks so cool from the City Bridge so we figured we’d come down here to try and get some Ćevapi. Ćevapi is the national dish of both Bosnia & Herzegovina as well as Serbia, and the Bosnian version is made of two different types of minced beef meat.

Back across the Vrbas River is a place called Gradska Tržnica, which translates to City Market. This place is MASSIVE and reminds me of what I would imagine a mall would’ve felt like before the modern version of malls existed. You can basically get anything you could ever need here from fruits & veggies, to hand-made trinkets, to full-on wardrobes.

Right between the Banja Luka Raft & City Market is the Kastel Fortress. It’s medieval but it’s situated on the site of previous fortifications that go back to Roman and even pre-Roman times, making it the oldest historical monument in the city. The Kastel Fortress is widely considered the most important symbol and the stone heart of the city of Banja Luka.

One really interesting detail about Bosnia is it’s a melting pot of cultures. We’ve already seen a Serbian Orthodox cathedral, and now we’re stopping over at the Ferhat Pasha Mosque. This classic Ottoman mosque was built back in 1579 and stood for almost 400 years before being destroyed during the Bosnian War between 1992 and 1995.

Dinner was at a restaurant called Kod Brke which translates to At The Mustache. It’s one of the more popular restaurants in town, but that doesn’t mean you’re going to break the bank eating here for a night. The prices for food are very reasonable and they’ve got a great mix of local, as well as Italian dishes to choose from.

We’re ended the day at a place called Master Craft Brewery. The menu has a great selection of local beers, which includes IPAs which are our favorites!!

We hope you enjoyed our vlog of Banja Luka and hopefully we gave you some ideas for when you visit!! Please subscribe to follow along and if you enjoyed the video then hit the like button as it greatly helps us!! Thanks and see you in a few days!!

In this year, if you are planning on traveling throughout Europe, make sure to add Bosnia and Herzegovina to your bucket list. Among many amazing and stunning sightseeing places, you absolutely have to visit Waterfalls in Bosnia. These gems are leaving all people who visit them breathless. Bosnia, with these amazing waterfalls, is surely Paradise on Earth.

Waterfalls in Bosnia are one of the natural beauties that will forever captivate our eyes. Waterfalls probably arouse emotions in most people that we didn’t even know existed. It is safe to say that waterfall is water in its most beautiful form.

Some of them are a special attraction during the summer months, and some turn into an ice mass in the winter and create a fascinating sight. It is almost impossible to find the right words to describe the beauty of the waterfalls we have. Some of them are creating lakes after the fall while some of them are creating tufa. Even, one of them is situated in the center of the city which makes him the only waterfall in the world that is situated in the city center.

You can read a list of 5 must-see waterfalls in Bosnia on our waterfalls blog

One is the ancient bridge built in the Ottoman period. the other is a city restored in real life according to a novel, and even the city hall of Visegrad is in it, just like a real utopia~

An Evening in Sarajevo City Center - Vlog (Black And Ginger)

We took a trip down to the famous city of Sarajevo, the capital city of Bosnia and Hercegovina. We bought a few souvenirs and baklava for friends and family. Eventually Frida got very hungry so we took a chance to try out cevapi. Sarajevo is popular for delicious cevapi.

Salman hasn't let anyone cut his hair in the past 5 years because of earlier experiences with hair dressers in Serbia. He decides to give it a chance in Sarajevo. The trip back up Jahorina Mountains was funny and also stressful as we had troubles putting on the winter chains on our tires.
.
This brings an end to our 2023 winter holidays in Jahorina/Pale Bosnia and Herzegovina. We really enjoyed our time here.

Hiking the Trebević Peak Trail in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina

Trebević hoovers above the city of Sarajevo, it’s an easy place to get to especially by the cable car. From there one can to a soft nature walk, see the old bobsleigh track, have a refreshment or keep hiking up to the peak. It’s very accessible. I took some hours off to to a speed hike up to the peak of Trebević and run down again. All from and to the cable car. I recommend a hike up to Trebević if you’re in Sarajevo, love nature and have some extra time.

Cable car to the peak: 1h 28 min
Peak to cable car: 30min running
