WELCOME To MOLDOVA! We are on a trip with @moldovatovisit and we have been taken to Old Orhei only 1 hour outside of Chisinau and it is a historical complex in the Moldovan mountains! We were able to have lunch at the Bucuceni Eco Resort and watch all the babushka's cook our meal! We then made the short hike up to the Monastery after visiting the Surreal caves!

3. This monastery wins the award for the most beautiful in all of Moldova. The complex is made up of five churches, a refectory, several abbeys, and monk cells. Its beauty comes from the Bessarabia architectural style. The centrepiece for the complex is the Mother of God Church, built at the end of the 19th century. After you've explored the grounds and learnt about the unique history of the monastery (it was once a psychiatric hospital during the Soviet era) enjoy a nice stroll through the orchards.
2. Just an hour outside of Chisinau is Orheiul, or Old Orhei, Moldova's most incredible sight. It's an archaeological complex with rich cultural and historical significance. It's also a place of stunning natural beauty. Overlooking the Raut River, this open-air complex features fortifications, baths, caves, ruins, and monasteries – all which date back as late as the Dacian tribes of 2000 years ago. The ancient monuments date from various periods including the Tatar and Mongol invasions, the 10th century BC, and more recently the occupation of the Golden Horde in the 14th century. Because of the unusualness of the area, a museum has been built that offer exhibits and provide information and context for such a unique place.

There's also no shortage of restaurants, art galleries, nightclubs, spas, and casinos! You'll want to visit Pushkin Park and the orange pyramid at the World War II memorial. You'll find marvellous frescoes in the Nativity Cathedral, and if that's not for you, check out the stalls of the local modern artists in the art market.

The world is finally waking up to the charms of this little nation wedged between Romania and Ukraine. Moldova was famously dubbed the world's least happy place in a bestselling book in 2008, but today it's better known for its unspoiled countryside and superb wine tours. As one of Europe’s least visited countries, Moldova retains a measure of roads-less-travelled charm. But that’s changing quickly as budget flights from Western Europe take off.
Pretty much all roads in Moldova lead to its wine-and-food loving capital. While the city’s origins date back six centuries to 1420, much of Chişinău was levelled in WWII and a tragic earthquake that struck in 1940. The Soviets rebuilt it into what you see today: grandiose Stalinist architecture mixed with gloriously brutal modernism from the later Soviet period and a smattering of pre-WWII edifices.
Chişinău is a city of parks where retirees play chess in the shade of old-growth trees, of street festivals, and of sidewalk cafes where you can have a beverage and watch the world go by. A dozen superb wineries are within a 90-minute drive of Chişinău, and the super-central location puts the entire country within a day trip. Throw in a hip and happening nightlife, and Chisinau ticks off all the boxes for an effective weekend break.

Tipova Monastery
Dug out from beneath the rocks, by the banks of the Dniester River, the monastery is comprised of three major complexes. It is located in a remote part of Moldova, but that only adds to the beauty of it which makes it one of the best places to visit in Moldova. The three complexes are Church of the Feast of the Holy Cross, Church of St. Nicholas and Horodiste.
Orheiul Vechi
Taking you back some two thousand years ago, this archaeological complex, overlooks the Raut River and holds immense historical and cultural significance. Because of the vastness of the historical events witnessed by the Old Orhei, a museum has been put together to provide information to the visitors.
Saharna
A spiritual abode resting in the laps of Mother Nature is always hard to resist. And hence, this small village Saharna, which has preserved Holy Trinity Monastery, is one you should not miss out on. It is believed that Virgin Mary’s foot imprints are embedded on one of the rocks there and that makes Saharna a pilgrimage for numerous Moldovans.
Codru National Reservation
Resting in the centre of Moldova, this oldest reserve in the country is home to over a 1000 duly protected plant species, 145 bird species and almost fifty mammal species, accompanied by around 6 species of reptiles.
