Rotterdam (2024) is the second biggest city of the Netherlands after Amsterdam. Rotterdam has a population of 630,000 and Rotterdam-Rijnmond 2.2 million. The city of Rotterdam, in particular the spectacular site of Ahoy was chosen to host the Eurovision 2021. However, due to the outbreak of the Corona virus in 2020 the event was cancelled.
In 2021 there was a new attempt to organize the song contest for thousands of fans. As the Covid-19 pandemic was ongoing and Ahoy was still in a lockdown - and used as a XL Corona Test Site by the Public Health Department of Rotterdam - the event will be broadcasted online. It was not possible to host thousands of guests in Ahoy.

The Markthal or Market Hall in Rotterdam is a nice indoor market area where you can buy all kinds of Dutch Street Food.
In the Hall you can find all sorts of typical Dutch foods, such as cheese, fish, poffertjes and patat. Located at the Blaak Train station, it is easy to reach by public transport. In the Area you will also find the famous Rotterdam Cube Houses (Kubus Woningen)
The Markthal opened in 2014 and is 40 meters high.

De Zalmhaven, also referred to as Zalmhaven Toren, is a project that includes a 215m residential tower in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Other parts of the project are two buildings of 70m each. The project was approved by the city in February 2010.

The 215m high residential tower will house 295 apartments and a parking garage. The tower and a second office building was designed by Dam & Partner architects, with Claus en Kaan Architecten designing a residential unit. After completion it was one of the tallest residential towers in Europe and the tallest building in the Netherlands.
