Do you wonder what to do in Olomouc? See this video and discover with us the best things to do in Olomouc, Czech Republic. Olomouc, located on the Morava river, is one of the most beautiful and well-preserved cities in the Czech Republic. The city’s triangular-shape main square is full of colorful historic buildings and is dominated by Holy Trinity Column which was built by Olomouc citizens. Its height is astonishing 35 meters and its bottom part houses a seasonally accessible chapel. Another interesting tourist attraction is a 15th century City Hall with 75 meters high tower which you can walk up and enjoy amazing view of the city. Next to the tower you can find astronomical clock. However, the original 15th century clock was destroyed in the end of second world 2. Today’s replacement was completed in 1955 and instead of saints, it features proletarians such as farmers or factory workers. Another unique monument of Olomouc is set of six Baroque fountains. Do not miss impressive Hillfort Monastery which houses military hospital today. However, from April to September, you can visit it every first Saturday of the month taking guided tour. You can’t visit Olomouc without tasting its stinky cheese. It is stinky but delicious.

The city of Olomouc is located on the Czech Republic’s Hanna Plain on the March River and was one of the centres of the realm of Great Moravia and is one of the oldest seats of the Přemyslids. Today, modern fountains distract at historic Horni Náměsti, or Upper Ring where, in 1306, Václav The Third was murdered. In 1469, a Hungarian, Matthias Corvinius, was proclaimed King Of Bohemia and the Hussite armies were forced to withdraw. The Hauenschild Palace is a sixteenth century Renaissance building with a richly decorated portal and bay windows, as well having a musical history. In 1767 the eleven year old Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart lived there and composed a symphony. Even today mighty Baroque buildings shape the old town. The House Of The Kurie Of The Archbishops is another splendid example of Catholic power. Its residents clearly had a special fondness for running water, as indicated by the Merkur Fountain. Olomouc is a remarkable work of Baroque art as well as being an historic gem!
