Wandelen op de Landgoederen van Amelisweerd en Rhijnauwen.
De landgoederen Rhijnauwen en Amelisweerd liggen aan de oostkant van Utrecht, tussen Utrecht en Bunnik in. Ze zijn tezamen ongeveer 300 hectare groot en bestaan uit bos, weide, akkers en boomgaarden. Tot de landgoederen behoren acht landbouwbedrijven. Op deze bedrijven wordt hoofdzakelijk melkvee gehouden.

Join me for Flashback Friday. Once a week I will share a classic tour so that the community can watch together.
The incredible De Haar Castle is located near Utrecht and is the largest castle in the Netherlands. Designed by Pierre Cuypers, this opulent 19th-century castle was once the residence of the Van Zuylen family and was visited by many celebrities during the 1960s.
This enchanting fairy-tale castle is set in its own extensive English landscape inspired parkland and is surrounded by some very beautiful French-style geometric gardens. On this tour, I am going to take you on a gentle walk through the gardens, and around the park. Together we will pass over quaint little bridges and along tree-lined avenues. We may even catch a glimpse of some deer, as the park is home to a number of these majestic creatures. If we are lucky, we will be able to take some beautiful postcards of these delightful animals against the stunning backdrop of the castle parklands.

Short visit to the old center of the small fortified city of Woudrichem. This place was first recorded ad 866. Nearby lies the famous castle Loevestein, surrounded by a nature reserve where Konik horses stroll around freely.

Ons verrassingsweekend leidt ons naar het plaatsje Werkhoven. We staan op camperplaats “aan het dorp” en het regent voortdurend. Helen heeft 2 wandelingen uitgezocht die langs de gehele rivier de Kromme Rijn lopen. De eerste dag lopen we naar Wijk bij Duurstede en de tweede dag naar Utrecht. De totale lengte van de Kromme Rijn is 28 km.

Pyramid Austerlitz - The Netherlands! And the Triangle of Abraham
Special Report - Non Mayan Pyramid Investigation- On 10/10/10 we came across a pyramid in the middle of The Netherlands. Pretty much the last thing one would expect. It is called the Pyramid of Austerlitz, as we would learn or La Pyramide d'Austerlitz.
It was built during French occupation of Holland or the lowlands in 1804 by General Marmont. Better said, it is claimed that the troops were idle so and not too long before that the General had been with Napoloen in Egypt and wanted to built such a masterpiece in Holland, for with it's flat landscape, it would really stand-out.
Marmont's army of 18,000 soliders, in a party like atmosphere it is claimed, built this 4-sided pyramid in just 27 days.
Notice how we always get back to 9?
So I was wonder while filming how it may make alignments with the position of the sun, stars or perhaps earthly landmarks. Found this:
Triangle of Abraham
Mohamed Sabet, of the Delft University faculty of architecture,
sees an alignment between Jerusalem, The Great Pyramid at Giza,
the Paris Observatory, Mecca and the Austerlitz Pyramid in Holland.

If ever in Holland near Zeist, just outside of Utrecht, visiting and climbing the Pyramid Austerlitz - the largest pyramid in western Europe, is well worth it!

Bicycle trip starting in Zeist and visiting Bunnik, Odijk, Houten, Utrecht and finally De Bilt on Sunday Jan 30th 2011.

The temperature outside was -1 when I started, but the trees were dripping when I cycled along the Amsterdam-Rijn Canal so by then it must be a little above zero. The forecast said that it would be an overcast day with a little chance of a glimpse of the sun.

The road changes name in Kruisweg / N410.
Entering Houten via the tunnel under Rondweg at 0:40:50. We are now on Odijkseweg.
The end of Odijkseweg is called Korenmolen, we are turning right into De Molen 0:43:40, and then left to the tunnel under the railroad from Utrecht south-bound 0:44:12.
After the climb to ground level, we are on the Vlierweg in the old village part of Houten (0:45:30).
Plein (0:47:10), in Houten.
Prins Bernardweg (0:48:16), tunnel under Rondweg (0:48:30), and then the cycle lane along De Brug.
Veenwagenpad in Houten at 0:50:30. Tunnel under De Rede (0:51:40), and the road changes name to Veenwagenweg.
Cycling along the Amsterdam-Rijn canal towards Utrecht at 0:54:00.
The road changes name to Heemsteedseweg at 0:57:56. Bridge/Viaduct under the Highway A27 / E311 0:58:25. The first battery is empty and needs to be replaced at 0:59:05.
Heemsteedsekanaaldijk 1:05:00. Overeindseweg.
Ontvangstpunt Nieuwegein (1:07:25) for dangerous waste from cargo boats.
Bridge Laagravenseweg (1:07:40). Left into Ravenveldseweg (1:09:05), along the Laagravenseweg / N408.
Left into Ravenswade, Utrecht (1:13:23). Right into De Liesbosch (1:15:40). Crossing the Liesboschbrug (1:18:05), wiggling into the cycle lane along the Europalaan (1:18:40), which bends right along Mauritiuslaan, Utrecht.
Turning left into Winthontlaan (1:20:48) along the canal. Bridge under Highway A12 / E30 / E35 (1:21:15). Then the road changes name to Zeehaenkade.
Continuing, under the Beneluxlaan-bridge, along the Kanaalweg (1:24:50), Utrecht.
Left along Koningin Wilhelminalaan (1:29:00) and backtracking on the other side of the grass (1:30:00) to cross via the Balijebrug into the Balijelaan, Utrecht.
Passing Rijnlaan and Croeselaan (1:32:00) into Vondellaan. Turning left into Bleekstraat (1:34:00), then Catharijnesingel (1:35:00), Oosterkade and Ledig Erf (1:35:40), Utrecht.
Turning left via the Tolsteegbug (1:37:30) into the Twijnstraat (1:37:50).
Oudegracht, Utrecht (1:39:10).
Het Wed, Utrecht (1:41:50) . Domplein, Utrecht (1:42:10). Passing the Academiegebouw, the Dom-church and the Dom-Tower in Utrecht city center.
Turning left into Domstraat , Korte Jansstraat (1:43:00), and then right into Janskerkhof (1:43:45).
Lucasbolwerk, crossing Lucasbrug (1:45:10), going into Nachtegaalstraat, Utrecht.
Turning left into Maliebaan (1:47:25). Continuing after the roundabout into Snellenlaan (1:49:35). Then right into the Biltstraat, Utrecht (1:50:20).
Via the Berenkuil (1:51:30) into Biltsestraagweg / N237, heading for De Bilt.
When we go under the viaduct for Highway A27 (1:54:50), the road changes name to Utrechtseweg, De Bilt.
Dorpsstraat, De Bilt (2:02:30).
Crossing the Soestdijkseweg Zuid into De Holle Bilt (2:04:51).
Then the second battery dies.
