The Canton of Valais / Wallis is one of Switzerland’s most touristy and fascinating regions. It is well-known due to the world-famous Matterhorn, the villages of Zermatt and Saas Fee and the many other skiing resorts. However, the Canton of Valais / Wallis offers way more than these: There are plenty of other attractions such as dams, villages, mountain tops, panoramas, zip lines, lakes, funiculars, glaciers museums, thermal baths, hiking trails, bisses, castles and train lines. This video summarizes the Top 15 attractions in brief, including all the necessary information one needs when planning his/her trip to the Canton of Valais / Wallis.
A highlight is definitely Zermatt with the Gornergrat and the panorama up to the Matterhorn. Furthermore, Zermatt is a wonderful village to visit. The Aletsch Glacier is also a place one shall not miss when visiting the canton of Valais. It's the largest glacier of the Alps. Wonderful is going up to the Eggishorn for the sunrise tour in July/August. The Aletsch Glacier is going to glow in a beautiful golden color. The old town of Sion is very stunning: Italian vibes in the Canton of Valais. Very much alive and apparently a foodie lab! Thus, do not miss to take your dinner there: Hérens beef, valaisans tomatoes and apricots are local specialities. Also visit the 2 castles of Sion. The Pierre Gianadda Foundation is considered to be one of Switzerland's top museums. The museum hosts a brilliant collection of paintings (Cézanne, Picasso and Mathys), old cars and roman artifacts. A trip up to the Mont-Fort near the village of Verbier is another highlight of Valais / Wallis. The 360° panorama up there allows you to see the Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn... on your way down, better take the zip line: It's going to be very thrilling! At Martigny, you may also visit the Barryland museum. It's a foundation that takes care of the Barry dog breed; one of Switzerland's national animals. It's a very family friendly attraction. Saas-Fee is a beautiful village to visit, surely because of it's many glaciers. The Metro Alpin up to the Mittelallalin and the ice pavilion are a highlight. Take a break at the baths of Leukerbad. This is premium wellness up in the Swiss Alps! Consider bathing at the Hotels of the Thermal bath of Leukerbad village. Really nice is also the Grande Dixence dam, the largest dam of Switzerland. Very thrilling is the zipline just along the dam! The underground Lake at Saint-Léonard is considered being one of Switzerland's most unique natural treasures. It's a great attraction to visit during rainy weather. The dam at Emosson with the world's steepest funicular and the panoramic train is another hidden gem attraction of Valais. Visit it and enjoy a brilliant vista over Mont-Blanc! Relax at the Lake of Champex-Lac, one of the best lakes one could visit in Switzerland. Pure nature and few people. The Bisse de Clavau is a serene hiking trail in the middle of the vineyards above Sion. From there you may enjoy a great view over the Rhone valley and the Swiss Alps. The Stockalper palace of Brig is a place for people who love to visit medieval heritage places. It's a castle with beautiful arcardes. Not the glacier express but the steam railway train over the Furkapass are considered the most stunning trainline one can take in the canton of Valais / Wallis. Canton of Fribourg
The canton of Fribourg, also canton of Freiburg is located in western Switzerland. The canton is bilingual, with French spoken by two thirds of the citizens and German by about one third. Both are official languages in the canton. The canton takes its name from its capital city of Fribourg. The canton of Fribourg joined the Swiss Confederation in 1481. Lake of Gruyère
Lake of Gruyère (French: Lac de la Gruyère; German: Lac de la Gruyère or Greyerzersee) is an artificial lake in the La Gruyère region of the Canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. The reservoir was formed between the cities of Bulle and Fribourg, by building the Rossens Dam on the Sarine river in 1948. The arch dam has a height of 83 m and a crest length of 320 m. The reservoir filled in about four months after completion. The dam is operated by the Groupe E SA. The remains of the castle of Pont (or Pont-en-Ogoz) and a chapel are located on the Ile d'Ogoz, one of the five islets in the lake. The Viaduc du Lac de Gruyère of the A12 motorway was built in the 1970s. The bridge has a total length of 2043 m and crosses three valleys, including two arms of the lake.

Boltigen
It is a municipality in the Obersimmental-Saanen administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. Boltigen is a mixed community, with traits both of a burgese community and a village community. Beside it, there is also a reformed evangelical Church community. The history of the community goes back to 1386 and the so-called Freiheitsbrief von 1386. The community president is Hermann Maurer, since 1 January 2005.
Jaun Pass
(German: Jaunpass, French: col de Bellegarde) is a high mountain pass (el. 1509 m.) in the Swiss Alps linking Charmey and Jaun in the canton of Fribourg with Reidenbach (part of the municipality of Boltigen) in the canton of Bern. The pass itself is located within the canton of Berne. The pass road was completed in 1878. The Jaunpass connects the Gruyère region in Fribourg with the Simmental in the Bernese Oberland. It is located between the towns of Broc and Reidenbach (municipality of Boltigen) and leads through Jaun, the only German-speaking municipality in the Gruyère region. The top of the pass is at 1509 m in the municipality of Boltigen.

Top 3 Valleys of Switzerland – BEST of the Swiss Alps [Travel Guide]
Switzerland is full of amazing valleys. Each valley has its unique characteristics such as architecture, culture, landscape and food. In this video, the Top 3 Valleys of Switzerland are being presented in detail. The Val Bavona is a very raw and mystical valley in the Canton of Ticino. The Val Bavona is known for its village of Foroglio and the many unique raw stone houses that were built beneath the rocks that the locals call Splüi. The Val Bavona is full of wonderful villages like Forolgio, Sonlerto, Sabbione, Fontana and San Carlo. The Val Bavona is worth to be explored for about 2 days. Also visit the Foroglio waterfall that is considered a highlight in this Swiss valley. The Simmental is often named as the greenest valley of Switzerand and even of Europe. The Simmental is the home to two of the top 10 waterfalls of Switzerland: The Siebenbrunnen and the Iffigfall. The Siebenbrunnen is a branched waterfall that can be accessed by hiking up from Lenk for about 40 minutes. A highlight of the Simmental is the house trail at where you can see the many beautiful homes that are decorated with plenty of paintings and prayers. Beautiful villages to visit are Boltigen, Erlenbach and Oberwil. At Oberwil there is also a suspension bridge that takes you to the Weissburg Bad. The Schächental is in the Canton of Uri and hosts one of the most beautiful treasures of the Swiss Alps. This would be the Staubifall (Stäuber) that is one of the most photographed subjects of Switzerland on Instagram. Many travelers admire the Schächental as it is raw, green and looks like post cards.

Stockhornbahn Cable Car Station
The Stockhorn is a mountain of the Bernese Alps, overlooking the region of Lake Thun in the Bernese Oberland. It is located north of the town of Erlenbach im Simmental. The Stockhorn is 2,190 m (7,190 ft) high and is accessible via cable car from Erlenbach. It has a restaurant at the top and is a good starting point for many hikes. There is good fishing in the two lakes right below the Stockhorn, the Oberstockensee (around 1,650 m [5,410 ft] high) and the Hinterstockensee (around 1,550 m [5,090 ft] high). There is a subterranean water connection between the two lakes. Canton of Uri
It is one of the 26 cantons of Switzerland and a founding member of the Swiss Confederation. It is located in Central Switzerland. The canton's territory covers the valley of the Reuss between the St. Gotthard Pass and Lake Lucerne. The official language of Uri is (the Swiss variety of Standard) German, but the main spoken dialect is the Alemannic Swiss German called Urner German [de]. Uri was once the only canton where the children in school had to learn Italian as their first foreign language, but in the school year of 2005/2006 this was changed to English, as in other Central and Northeastern Swiss cantons. The population is about 35,000 of which 3,046 (or 8.7%) are foreigners. The legendary William Tell is said to have hailed from Uri.

The Grisons, Graubünden or Grigioni, more formally the Canton of the Grisons or the Canton of Graubünden, is one of the twenty-six cantons of Switzerland. It has eleven regions, and its capital is Chur. The German name of the canton, Graubünden, translates as the Grey Leagues, referring to the canton's origin in three local alliances, the Three Leagues. The other native names (Grischun in Rumantsch Grischun and Grigioni in Italian) also refer to the Grey League. The Alpine ibex is the canton's heraldic symbol.

Göschenen
(German, Italian: Casinotta, Romansh: Caschanuttais) a village and municipality in the canton of Uri in Switzerland. It sits at the northern end of the Gotthard tunnel. The Göschenen riots (1875) saw Urner troops opening fire on Italian miners demonstrating for better working conditions and wages on the tunnel's construction site.
Teufelsbrücke
Schöllenen Gorge (German: Schöllenenschlucht; Schöllenen) is a gorge formed by the upper Reuss in the Swiss canton of Uri between the towns of Göschenen to the north and Andermatt to the south. It provides access to the St Gotthard Pass. Enclosed by sheer granite walls, its road and railway require several spectacular bridges and tunnels, of which the most famous is a stone bridge known as the Teufelsbrücke (Devil's Bridge).
Andermatt
It is a mountain village and municipality in the canton of Uri in Switzerland. At an altitude of 1437 meters above sea level, Andermatt is located at the center of the Saint-Gotthard Massif and the historical center cross of north-south and east-west traverses of Switzerland. It is some 28 km (17 mi) south of Altdorf, the capital of Uri.

(Romansh: Alpsu or Cuolm d'Ursera, German: Oberalppass) (el. 2044 m.) is a high mountain pass in the Swiss Alps connecting the cantons of Graubünden and Uri between Disentis and Andermatt.

Gruyères is a beautiful medieval town in the canton of Fribourg. It’s a very cultural place full of history.
Gruyères is a great place for foodie enthusiasts. Local delicacies are of course the Gruyères cheese, fondue à la moitié-moitié and desserts such as berries or meringues with double cream. You may enjoy these great foods at the various restaurants allover Gruyères. Very nice to visit is the Château de Gruyère, the castle. It's a very well preveserved medieval piece of heritage that operates today as a museum. The castle has a wonderful garden as well as beautiful and rich interiors. There you can learn more about the dystany that once rules over Gruyère. Gruyères is a village of museums! Visit the HR-Giger museum, which showcases the artwork of Hans-Ruedi Giger, who created the Aliens for the movie of the same name. The HR-Giger bar is also a highlight: in there, you even may take photos! The Tibetan museum showcases the vajrayana (tibetan) Buddhism and culture of this unique civilization. Very beautiful is the blend of the tibetan museum into the Christian chapel. Otherwise, explore the centre and alleys of the village of Gruyères and enjoy the view over the Swiss Alps and the plateau. Go to the Gruyères cheese factory to see how the world-famous Gruyère AOP is made. Be aware that Gruyères can be very touristy: This definitely is the case during the Summer months July and August as well as on weekends. This medieval village is best visited in June or September... on weekdays! Combine a visit to Gruyères with the nearby peak called Moléson; a very underrated summit of the Swiss Alps in Fribourg. Get to discover this wonderful village and get to know why this is considered to be one of the top 10 towns of Switzerland.
