Schlieren has an area of 6.6 km2 (2.5 sq mi). Of this area, 19.5% is used for agricultural purposes, while 28.1% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 50.7% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (1.7%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers, or mountains).[3] In 1996 housing and buildings made up 36.6% of the total area, while transportation infrastructure made up the rest (14.1%).[4] Of the total unproductive area, water (streams and lakes) made up 1.8% of the area. As of 2007 43.5% of the total municipal area was undergoing some type of construction.[4]
Schlieren lies to the south of the river Limmat in the Limmat Valley (German: Limmattal), and west of Zurich. It is part of the Zurich metropolitan area.

Fahr Convent
Fahr Convent, (German: Kloster Fahr) is a Benedictine convent located in the Swiss municipality of Unterengstringen in the canton of Zürich.
The convent is first mentioned in AD 1130 as Vare (an old term used for ferry).
During World War II, from November 1943 to February 1944, 11 female Jewish refugees lived secretly in the cloister; unfortunately, they had to leave for an unknown destination when the school was opened.
On 1 February 1944, the convent established a Bäuerinnenschule, i.e. an agricultural school for women.
On 1 January 2008, the convent was incorporated into the municipality of Würenlos, happening over a century after the municipality's initial attempts to absorb the 1.48-hectare area of the convent.
On 22 January 2009 the former Abbot of Einsiedeln, Dom Martin Werlen, O.S.B., presented the nuns with a new community seal, thereby indicating that the nuns were in full control of the business affairs of their convent.
In 2014 the women's agricultural school (Bäuerinnenschule) had to close for financial reasons. At the same time an overall renovation of the convent buildings, erected between 1689 and 1746 was undertaken. The interiors, windows, and antiquated power supply were refurbished in 2016 to finally comply with fire prevention and other modern statutory requirements.
Kloster Fahr is listed in the Swiss inventory of the cultural property of national and regional significance as a Class A object of national importance.

Ein Auge für harmonische Farbkombinationen wird dann ebenso gefragt sein wie das Wissen um Formen, gestalterische Trends und botanische Zusammenhänge. An einem Weltcup sind aber auch überdurchschnittliche Flexibilität sowie Belastbarkeit gefragt. Und da ein solcher Anlass vor viel Publikum stattfindet und grosse Beachtung findet, ist die persönliche Ausstrahlung ebenfalls wichtig.
Wer wird die Schweiz vertreten?
An einem ersten Casting hat die schweizerische Fleurop bereits eine Vorentscheidung getroffen, wobei neben Talent und Wissen auch starke Präsenz und Ausdrucksfähigkeit gefragt war: „Wir suchen nicht nur einen exzellenten Floristen, sondern eine Persönlichkeit, die wir künftig auch als Fleurop-Botschafterin respektive Botschafter einsetzen können, präzisiert Jörg Beer, CEO von Fleurop-Interflora (Schweiz). Nach der Leistungsauswertung durch die Experten in der Jury war es schliesslich soweit: Vier Kandidatinnen und ein Kandidat kamen nach der ersten Runde weiter. Wer die Schweiz schliesslich in China vertritt, wird sich am zweiten Casting entscheiden, das vom 29. bis 31. Juli stattfindet.
