Azerbaijan is known for having nine of the 11 defined ecological zones. Much of the country is temperate year-round. Nation-wide the average temperature for the year is 14-15°C (57-59°F). The Caucasus Mountains protect the country from the Arctic air masses that affect Russia in winter while the Caspian Sea shields it from the hot, dry air of Central Asia in the summer.
Cabbage, grape leaves, and eggplant wrapped meat (kelem, yarpaq, badimjan - dolmasi), kabab (kebab), rice with different variety of toppings (plov - It is said that plov is the king of Azerbaijani cuisine), gutabs and meatballs (kufta) are some of the several specialties of Azerbaijan.
Some local drinks include ayran (a yogurt drink based on sour milk) and sherbet (made from rose petals or saffron). There are also different sorts of quite decent wines produced from local grapes and a wide array of mineral waters from natural springs. In some areas of Azerbaijan the markets offer lemonades (limonat/dushes) made from pears or taragon.
There is a good selection of hotels in Baku, including many Western chains, but options elsewhere in the country are limited. Prices for the hotels start from USD60 and higher. Rental apartments might be a good choice as they are cheaper than hotels and sometimes are even more comfortable.

Oghuz District is one of the 66 districts of Azerbaijan. It is located in the north of the country and belongs to the Shaki-Zagatala Economic Region. The district borders the districts of Shaki, Qabala, Agdash, and the Russian Republic of Dagestan. Its capital and largest city is Oghuz. As of 2020, the district had a population of 44,700.
Location
Oghuz District is located on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus. The highest point of the region is Malkamud Mount (3879 m). It is the border with the Russian Federation in the north, with Gabala in the east, Sheki in the west, and with Agdash in the south.
History
The remains of a prehistoric man were found near the villages of Kerimli and Garabaglar, based on the results of archaeological excavations. Stone figurines, various tools, and household items were found here.
The district was part of the Ganja Province, which existed from April 3, 1952, until April 23, 1953. This province was abolished by the decision of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated April 23, 1953. Administrative-territorial reforms were carried out in 1962–1964 in connection with the establishment of the agricultural department and the establishment of national economical boards in the territory of the USSR. As a result, industrial and agricultural districts were established on the basis of the large districts. On January 4, 1963, 31 districts and 7 cities were established in the Azerbaijan SSR in the territory of six towns with 50 districts. According to this decision, the city of Nukha (Shaki since 1968) was established and the villages of the district are included in the Vartashen district (which would later become Oghuz District). This reform was cancelled on January 6, 1965, due to inefficiency. For this reason, villages included in the Vartashen district were subordinated to Nukha. Until 1961, Vartashen village was the centre of the Vartashan district. According to the decision of the Supreme Soviet of the Azerbaijan SSR, the name of Vartashan was renamed Oguz in February 1991.
Monuments
There are 27 clubs including 1 district, 3 rural culture houses, Central Election Committee and its 31 branches, regional History-Ethnography Museum, H.Aliyev museum, children's music school, cultural park in Oghuz district. There are 39 historical and cultural monuments in the region, of which 32 were registered and taken under state protection, as well as included in the list of historical and cultural monuments approved by the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan on August 2, 2001. 17 of these monuments (of which 15 are archaeological, 2 are sculptural) are of national importance, and 15 (of which 13 are sculptural, 2 are archaeological) are of local importance.

1. Baku is the capital of Azerbaijan and one of the places one has to visit in his or her lifetime. It is a city like no other, preserving the past and welcoming the future. With it's unique architecture, splendid cuisine and welcoming locals, you are sure to be guaranteed with an enthralling, hospitable and comfortable stay.
2. Flame Towers
The #FlameTowers are a trio of skyscrapers in Baku, Azerbaijan, including the tallest in the country, with a height of 182 m (597 ft). They symbolize the long history of fire worshippers that considered Azerbaijan as a birthplace for the prophet Zoroaster. The buildings consist of 130 residential apartments over 33 floors, a hotel tower that consists of 250 rooms and 61 serviced apartments, and office blocks.
At night, they are lit up to form various designs , including the flag of Azerbaijan and raging flames.
3. Carpet Mueseum
The structure of this building is intended to look like a rolled carpet. It has the largest collection of Azerbaijani carpets in the world, from various periods of time and designed with various styles. Photography is not allowed in this mueseum , though it is permitted outside the premises.It moved to a new building on the Baku's seafront park during 2014 from its former location on Neftchiler Avenue.
4. Old city
The Old City is the most ancient part of Baku, which is surrounded by well protected walls. In 2007, the Old City had a population of about 3000 people. In December 2000, the Old City of Baku, including the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and Maiden Tower, which date back at least to the 12th century, became the first location in Azerbaijan to be classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Gabala, also known as Gebele or Qabala is a small city situated in northern Azerbaijan. It is also the oldest city in Azerbaijan , being about 2000 years old. To the southwest, Chukhur Gabala village has ancient ruins, including imposing gate towers, from the city’s time as capital of Caucasian Albania. On the city’s northeastern outskirts, the Tufandag Winter–Summer Mountain Resort offers ski runs. An ancient Albanian church is in Boyuk Amili, nearby. To the west, Nij is home to the native Udi people. It’s population as of 2011 is 12,808.

It is a scenic waterfall , which finally empties into a small lake , full of both golden and black trout . There is a restaurant nearby which allows customers to fish the desired breed of fish for their meals .
3. Yeddi Gozel Waterfall
It is a waterfall located in Gabala . The atmosphere is calming . We recommend wearing appropriate footwear here .
