Making Jipijapa Panama Hats (Bécal Campeche México)
I’m Allison, the boss lady of TexMex Fun Stuff. Today you and I are going to visit the Panama Hat Capital of Mexico, Bécal, Campeche.
Here in this small town panama hats are called “Jipijapas”, pronounced hippie-hahpahs. They are sombreros which have been hand made here for generations.
Follow me as I climb down into caves and learn how the tradition of making these hats was born in Bécal, Campeche, México.

Campeche - Naufragios y aventura
Campeche se encuentra en el sureste de México, el oleaje del Golfo empuja restos de legendarios naufragios hasta las playas, protegidas por selva y manglares. En la arena podemos encontrar rastros de tortugas que aprovecharon la noche para desovar.
Durante la época prehispánica, numerosos grupos migratorios atravesaron el territorio de Campeche. Los mayas se establecieron en la región, construyeron magníficas obras arquitectónicas como observatorios, palacios y templos. Muestra de este esplendor son Calakmul, Dzibilnocac, Jaina y Edzná.
