Canal des Pangalanes, 2 day boat trip, Madagascar
On vacation in Madagascar we took 2day boat trip on the Canal des Pangalanes. We started in Mahanoro and sailed to Nosy Varika to stay the night. The next day we took of and sailed to mananjary. We visited some villages on this very nice boat trip.

L’unique hôtel flottant des Pangalanes vient d’être construit en bois de pin recouvert de fibre : un bateau confortable pour huit passagers et quatre membres d’équipage.
La meilleure manière de visiter les Pangalanes est le bateau. Le seul en service actuellement, terminé en 2016, s’y prête admirablement, conçu à la mesure des lieux, offrant à ses huit passagers l’intimité de ses cabines, la convivialité de repas soignés et la proximité avec une population indigène vivant dans l’état de nature.
Chacune des quatre cabines du bateau, accessible par un escalier, compte des lits jumeaux et des sanitaires avec douche WC et lavabo. Le pont couvert permet à une cuisinière, formée à la gastronomie malgache et française, d’exercer son talent avec un soin particulier pour les produits locaux et dans le strict respect de l’art de la table.
La seule vision du canal et de ses rives suffirait à enchanter le passager. Mais le décor offre bien d’autres attraits : la visite d’une réserve ou d’une plantation, une baignade rafraîchissante, une partie de pêche, le spectacle improvisé d’une danse villageoise ou d’une chorale, l’occasion d’acheter à prix modique les produits d’un artisanat dont chaque communauté s’est fait une spécialité différente, tout en s’imprégnant de l’odeur des épices séchant au soleil.
La végétation luxuriante est spécialement belle sur cette côte est de Madagascar bordant le canal. Des réserves recelant de précieux endémismes, tant végétaux qu’animaux (lémuriens, tortues, caméléons etc…) sont visitables sous la conduite de guides.
L’océan Indien tout proche élargit soudainement l’horizon quelques fois proche du canal de quelques dizaines de mètres offrant la possibilité des belles balades dans un décor à couper le souffle.

The 2023 MADAGASCAR Adventure Ride - Part 5 of 8
We continued up north along the coast of Madagascar, leaving Nosy Varika at dawn - it was going to be a long day on the bikes. The plan was to get to Vatomandry. We didn't make it that far.
We followed one of the main roads in Madagascar, the infamous RN11. Long stretches of the road was sandy tracks and Jimmy, our guide, struggled to get through riding two up. To make it Nata had to walk and jog while Jimmy rode the bike alone. Freeriding at the savanna was many times better than riding on the road.
The numerous ferry crossing was another odd but amusing experience taking some time.
At sunset we found a hotel room in Mahanoro, 85 kilometers short of Vatomandry - distant we had to make up for the next day. Riding in the dark was not an option.
From dawn to dusk this day was a true adventure ride. We all slept like babies.

Z Mahanoro nie można dalej płynąć Kanałem Pangalanes i muszę do następnej przystani na kanale jechać taxi brusz. Po drodze zatrzymałem się w Vatomandry. Zwiedzam miasteczko i wietrzny brzeg oceanu.

Rozpoczynam podróż po ,,Czerwonej wyspie. Jak prawie każdy odwiedzający wyspę pierwsze kroki stawiam w stolicy. Dwa dni zwiedzam miasto a następnie jadę na południe do Antrisabe.
MADAGASKAR - Podróż do Bealanana - cz.26
O Bealanana dowiedziałem się z książki Arkadego Fiedlera. W latach trzydziestych ubiegłego wieku trasą którą jadę z Antohihy jak pisze nieśli go tragarze w specjalnej lektyce. Nie wiadomo jak długo trwało przejście. Za to opisuje zatarg z Hindusem, który w tej drodze wykorzystywał jego tragarzy. Obecnie jest to ciężka trasa i trudno wyobrazić jaka była wtedy. Prawdopodobnie była to górska ścieżyna. Jak musiała wtedy wyglądać Bealanana? Szkoda, że prawie nic o niej nie pisze. Bealanana i okolice to najwyższy obszar Madagaskaru. Najwyższym szczytem na Madagaskarze jest wygasły wulkanem Ankaizina Field 2878 m wysokości leżący w pobliżu.
