The current Government House, known as the Gothic Revival Government House, was completed in 1845. It replaced an earlier Government House that was built in the early 19th century.
Government House serves as the official residence of the Governor of New South Wales, who is the representative of the Australian monarch. The Governor-General carries out various constitutional and ceremonial functions at the state level.
The building is designed in the Gothic Revival architectural style and features sandstone construction, turrets, and intricate detailing. It is considered an important example of colonial architecture.

I walked at George Street Sydney CBD at night to record the beauty of Christmas lights and decorations. I walked along the newly built George Street light rail, some parts of George Street has been opened to the public. I started the walk near Queen Victoria Building Shopping Centre, next to Westfield Sydney at 7:45 PM. The sky was still bright because it's summer here in Australia.

Visiting Sydney soon? Add this 8km walking tour (map linked below) to your list! Starting in Darling Harbour, walk the coastline of the Sydney CBD (Central Business District) hitting the most iconic landmarks: Sydney Harbour Bridge, Opera House, Royal Botanic Gardens as well as the newly-developed area of Barangaroo. The route is almost entirely flat and has many restaurants and cafés along the way to take a rest and enjoy the views (and people watching, of course!).
This is our first city hike. Despite being 100% urban, you will definitely come across an abundance of Sydney’s resident wildlife: Sulfur-crested cockatoos, White ibis (aka Bin chickens), Rainbow lorikeets, Magpies, Plovers, and more. Take a look into the water as you may also see jellyfish and stingrays swimming in the shallows. Enjoy!
