Its Domschatzkammer (treasury) has medieval artifacts including the shrine of Charlemagne, who was buried here in 814 A.D. Nearby is the baroque town hall, Aachener Rathaus, with 19th-century frescoes. Sulfurous water fills the fountains of Elisenbrunnen.

Aachen is one of our top 10 cities in Germany and worth a visit. Aachen Cathedral is world-famous. And so are the tasty Printen. Aachen is located at the border triangle of Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. Because of this location, you can feel Europe everywhere you go. We are theTravellers and show you Aachen in 5 minutes.
We start our Aachen tour at the city hall. It's worth taking a look inside. We continue to the Centre Charlemange city museum. On the way through the old town we eat some Printen. We pass the Elisenbrunnen - another landmark of Aachen. A little further out of town is the Lousberg. From here you have a view of the city from above.
If you're in Aachen for the weekend or even longer, e.g. for ERASMUS at rwth Aachen, it's worth taking a day trip to Monschau and the border triangle.

Sie beendet den Ausflug im Stadtwald mit einem Begleiter auf vier Hufen.

Kerpen | Rhein-Erft-Kreis | Streifzug | Rhein-Eifel.TV

Die Stadt Kerpen im rheinischen Braunkohlegebiet, westlich von Köln gelegen, ist sowohl von der Fläche, als auch von der Einwohnerzahl her, die größte Stadt im Rhein-Erft-Kreis. Rund 65.000 wohnen in Kerpen, dass aus 11 Stadtteilen besteht. Die heutige Stadt Kerpen ist 1975 aus der damaligen Stadt Kerpen und sieben bis dahin eigenständigen Gemeinden im Rahmen der kommunalen Neuordnung durch entstanden. Die Stadtteile sind überwiegend immer noch durch große freie Flächen voneinander getrennt und haben sich daher eine gewisse Eigenständigkeit erhalten.
Wie in fast allen Städten des Rhein-Erft-Kreises wurden aufgrund des Braunkohletagebaus auch in Kerpen die Stadtteile Mödrath und Bottenbroich umgesiedelt. Der Ortsteil Manheim wird bis etwa 2022 dem Tagebau Hambach weichen.
An exponierter Stelle im Zentrum von Kerpen am Stiftsplatz befindet sich heute im ehemaligen Rathaus das ‚Haus für Kunst und Geschichte’. Neben einer Dauerausstellung mit archäologischen Funden bietet es die Möglichkeit zur Präsentation von Wechselausstellungen mit verschiedenen Schwerpunkten.
Die Stiftskirche St. Martin liegt ebenfalls im Ortkern. Ihr Turm ist mit seinen 78 Metern nach dem Kölner Dom und dem Bonner Münster der dritthöchste im Erzbistum Köln.
Einige bedeutende Bauwerke befinden sich in Kerpen, wie hier das Schloss Loersfeld, das im 15. Jahrhundert erbaut wurde. Auch der Burg Bergerhausen, die im Mittelalter als Stammsitz der Ritter von Bergerhausen erbaut wurde, ist ein öffentlicher Park angeschlossen, der mit seinem alten Baumbestand als Naherholungsgebiet vor allem an Wochenenden viele Besucher anlockt.
Einen sehenswerten, öffentlich zugänglichen Park hat auch das Barockschloss Türnich zu bieten. Er ist speziell in der Sommerzeit ein wahrer Publikumsmagnet. Viele Freizeitradler nutzen das Café im Innenhof als willkommene Einkehrmöglichkeit.
Auch mit sog. ‚berühmten Söhnen der Stadt’ kann Kerpen aufwarten. Seit 2012 führt Kerpen den offiziellen Zusatz ‚Kolpingstadt’. Adolph Kolping war ein katholischer Pfarrer, der 1813 in Kerpen geboren wurde und sich besonders im sozialen Bereich engagierte. ‚Gesellenvater Kolping’, wie er genannt wird, ist der Begründer des Kolpingwerkes. Heute befindet sich an der Stelle seines Geburtshauses das Adolph-Kolping-Museum.
Ein weiterer ‚berühmter Sohn Kerpens’ ist der Rennfahrer Graf Berghe von Trips, der in den späten 50er Jahren bis zu seinem Unfalltod 1961 als Formel-1-Rennfahrer Furore machte. Die Familiengruft der von Trips befindet sich auf dem Friedhof von Horrem.
Auch der Rennfahrer Michael Schumacher ist in Kerpen aufgewachsen und wurde dort zum erfolgreichsten Piloten der Formel-1-Geschichte.
Zu erwähnen wäre auch noch der Komponist Karlheinz Stockhausen, der in Mödrath geboren wurde und heute als Vertreter der ‚klassischen Modernen’ als einer bedeutendsten Komponisten des 20. Jahrhunderts gilt.

The Aquis Plaza (in former planning stages Kaiserplatz Gallery ) is a shopping center in the center of Aachen at the eastern end of the shopping street Adalbertstraße. It extends from Willy-Brandt-Platz to Kaiserplatz . After years of preparations and problems, including the purchase of the necessary land, the ECE Group was able to start the demolition and excavation work on the construction site on May 16, 2013 with the groundbreaking ceremony.
Participants in the development of the center is the Strabag Real Estate and the Hamburg architecture firm Blauraum Architekten . On 16 January 2014, the final has been building permit by the city of Aachen granted. With a topping-out ceremony on October 21, 2014, the completion of the shell construction was celebrated. The opening took place on October 28 will be 2015. and is said to have attracted more than 84,000 visitors.
About 130 retail stores with a sales area of 29,200 m 2 spread over basement, ground floor, first and second floor of the mall, including large chain stores such as Sport Scheck , Zara , TK Maxx , Reserved , Media-Saturn-Holding GmbH and Rewe . The center employs around 700 people.
The complex consists of two building wings connected by a glass-roofed passageway from Kaiserplatz to Willy-Brandt-Platz. This is accessible via all four levels, which are connected by stairs, escalators and elevators. The parking areas have 600 parking spaces and can only be reached via Kaiserplatz. They are located above the sales levels on the 3rd and 4th floors. A Car Finder System for finding the parking space is available.

Driving in Germany: Autobahn A52, A61 & A46 from Niederkrüchten to AK Holz
In this video you can ride along on Autobahnen A52, A61 and A46 from Niederkrüchten to Autobahnkreuz (AK) Holz near Jüchen in Germany. Some of the Autobahns in this video I had already featured on the channel, like the A61 from Mönchengladbach to the Dutch border or the A46 near Jüchen.
The A52 I haven't featured much on the channel yet. It's an Autobahn from the Dutch border into the Ruhrgebiet (Essen), passing the Landeshauptstadt Düsseldorf. I will feature more of this Autobahn in the future.
