안녕하세요. 세상에 첫선을 보이는 야생화 이야기꾼 한성순입니다.
오늘은 세상에 첫선을 보이는 야생화이야기 101편 자귀나무를 소개해 드리겠습니다.
국명 자귀나무
학명 Albizia julibrissin Durazz.
과명 앵글러 - 콩과 (Fabaceae), APG Ⅳ- 콩과 (Fabaceae)
영문명 Silk tree
개화기 6 ~ 7월
꽃색 붉은색, 분홍색, 연분홍색
분포 중국, 대만, 인도, 네팔, 일본, 한국
자귀나무 꽃말은 가슴의 두근거림, 환희입니다.
왕자귀나무는 희귀식물로 지정되어 있으며, 종과 자생지에 대한 보호대책 필요합니다.
꽃은 암수 한꽃이며 우산모양꽃차례로 15 ~ 20개씩 달리고 꽃받침통은 잔털이 있으며, 꽃부리는 종형으로, 5갈래로 갈라지며 녹색이 돕니다.
수술은 25개정도이고 길이 3cm로 상반부는 붉은색이고 하반부는 흰색으로 6 ~ 7월에 핍니다.
자귀나무와 비슷한 식물로는 목포 유달산을 비롯하여 그 근처에서 자라는 한국 특산종인 왕자귀나무가 있는데, 이는 자귀나무에 비해 잎이 훨씬 크고 수술이 많으며 꽃이 보다 흰 것이 특징입니다.
하지만 자귀나무 꽃은 평범함을 거부합니다.
초여름 숲속에서 짧은 분홍 실을 부챗살처럼 펼쳐놓고 마치 화장 솔을 벌려놓은 듯한 모습으로 우리를 반깁니다.
꽃잎은 퇴화되고 3cm나 되는 가느다란 수술이 긴 털처럼 모여 있습니다.
수술 끝은 붉은빛이 강하므로 전체가 붉게 보입니다.
밤에 서로 마주보는 잎사귀가 닫히는 것은 남녀가 사이좋게 안고 잠자는 모습을 연상시키므로, 옛사람들은 야합수(夜合樹)란 이름을 붙였습니다.
합환수, 합혼수라는 별칭도 같은 뜻입니다.
열매는 콩과 식물의 특징대로 얇고 납작한 긴 콩꼬투리가 다닥다닥 붙어서 수없이 달립니다.
겨울바람에 이 열매들이 부딪치는 소리는 꽤나 시끄러운데 흔히 여자들의 수다스러움과 같다 하여 여설수(女舌樹)란 이름도 있습니다.
《동의보감》에도 자귀나무 껍질은 “오장을 편안하게 하고 정신과 의지를 안정시키며 근심을 없애고 마음을 즐겁게 한다” 라고 했습니다.
《홍재전서(弘齎全書)》에도 “합환은 분(忿)이 나는 것을 없애 준다”라고 했습니다.
다시말해 신경안정제의 역할을 한 것으로 보입니다.
《산림경제》에서는 몇 가지 다른 처방을 살펴볼 수 있습니다.
“머리에 크게 상처를 입었을 때는 자귀나무 속껍질을 썰어 까맣게 될 때까지 볶고 겨자씨도 볶아 가루를 낸다. 4대 1로 섞고 술에 타서 가라앉힌다. 이것을 잠자리에 들 때 마시게 하고, 찌꺼기를 상처에 붙여주면 신기한 효험이 있다. 또 기생충으로 항문이나 목구멍이 가려울 때는 자귀나무를 아궁이에 때고는 굴뚝 위에 앉아 그 연기를 항문으로 들어가게 하고, 입으로 들이마시면 즉시 낫는다”라고 했습니다.
그 외에 자귀나무 잎이나 껍질은 빨래를 할 때 비누처럼 사용하기도 했다고 합니다.
주로 부인과·신경계·이비인후과 질환을 다스립니다.

Die Senke ed-Dachla (auch el-Dachla, el-Dakhla, Dachel, ) liegt im zentralen Teil der Westlichen Wüste im ägyptischen Gouvernement Neues Tal (eng. New Valley). Gemeinsam mit der Senke el-Chārga bildete sie die „Große Oase“ der Antike. Der Hauptort der Senke ist die Stadt Mūṭ. Zu Fuß, mit dem Kamel oder dem Jeep lassen sich prähistorische, altägyptische und mittelalterlicher Monumente, Oasenlandschaften und die Wüste am Rand der Senke erkunden.
Die Senke ist zweigeteilt: das größere Siedlungsgebiet mit den Städten Mut und Qasr ed-Dachla befindet sich im Westen. Im östlichen Siedlungsgebiet befindet sich die Dörfer Balat und Tineida.
