S3 Ep 11 Narrabri Shire [Cotton Farming explained]

The Narrabri Shire which incorporates the Wee Waa Plains is often touted as the cotton and agricultural capital of Australia. The area certainly punches above its weight with the variety of grains, cotton, corn, cattle, sheep and many other agricultural pursuits carried out in the region. In this episode we visit Matt Norrie on his property north west of Narrabri, where he teaches us all about the cotton growing process from seed to harvest. It's a fascinating story and it was well worth our time to learn from him.

Sawn Rocks ... Narrabri NSW.

The second stop on the long drive back form the Gold Coast to the Snowy 2.0 Project had me stopping at Sawn Rocks the Mount Kaputar NP just out of Narrabri in NSW.
This is one of Australia's best examples of this rock formation call Organ - Piping ... they are a fascinating reminder of Mt Kaputar volcanic past which active in the area some 17 - 21 million years ago.

Approximately 35 Klms from Narrabri and only a short walk into Sawn Rocks it should definitely be on everyones list if you are in the region.

Thanks for taking the time out to watch this short episode, I hope you enjoyed what you have seen.

A weekend in Narrabri

Last weekend in April 2018 my wife and I travelled to Narrabri to spend the weekend looking at some of of the interesting sights in the area. The content of the video is listed below in order of viewing

CSIRO Paul Wild Observatory - home of the Australia Telescope Compact Array
Yarrie Lake, a 3km saucer-shaped expanse of water on the very edge of the Pilliga Scrub is thought to have been formed by a falling meteor many thousands of years ago.
Sawn Rocks. Located in the northern section of Mt Kaputar National Park and is undoubtedly the most iconic reminder of Kaputar’s volcanic past.
Mount Kaputar National Park, Doug Sky Lookout, West Kaputar Lookout and Mount Kaputar lookout.
