MALTA: GOZO-Xlendi, Lunzjata, Nadur et al

This is our 5th trip to Gozo. From Mgarr Harbour, we stop briefly at Xewkija, see some of the Dbieġi Bizzilla, or lace. We then see the church of Kerċem and Fontana's Għajn il-Kbira and then visit the most beautiful and picturesque valley of Lunzjata.

We'll visit Nadur and then go to another beauty spot of Gozo, the Bay of Xlendi. We'll drop briefly at Qala and then head back to Mġarr to catch the ferry back to Malta.

MALTA & GOZO [4K] – MALTA’23 W 11 DNI! – TOP 40! DRONE & WALK (#0 zabytki i atrakcje wyspy słońca)

... zapowiedź kolejnego cyklu wizualnych opowieści ... tym razem o Malcie. Wszystkie odwiedzone miejscowości zostaną udokumentowane oddzielnymi filmami. Polecam śledzenie szczegółowej relacji z wyprawy … ;-)

WHAT TO DO IN MALTA in 60 seconds

Check out our website: 60seconds.travel

Arne and Tim spent one Week in Malta in Spring 2016. Pretty much the best time to be around: Not too hot and a good opportunity to escape the from the temperatures in central Europe that you get in Months like March or April.

Our recommendations in order of appearance:

00:06 Malta’s capital Valletta is best explored April-June or September/October, when the temperatures are moderate, crowds are fewer and prices lower.

00:08 The Dingli Cliffs (Siggiewi) are situated at the southwestern coast nearby the small village Dingli and are best reached by car or a scooter.

00:10 St. Peter’s Pool (Delimara). To reach the hidden swimming spot in the southeast of the island, head to Marsaxlokk and continue towards Delimara Lighthouse.

00:14 Numerous diving companies operate on the island. One of the most renowned is Dive Systems Malta. Dive schools charge 70-90 Euros for a package of accompanied dives.

00:20 For further information on public transportation, check Malta Public Transport

00:22 Med Sun Scooter at Spinola Bay (St. Julian’s) offer decent scooters for 40 Europer 24hs.

00:24 Pjazza San Pawl lies in the heart of Mdina next to Rabat.

00:29 Triq Inguanez is one of the typical narrow lanes of the Arabic walled city of Mdina

00:31 The megalithic temples of Hagar Qim (Qrendi) in the South of the island are one the most famous prehistoric sites of Malta. Tickets cost 10€ for adults. Opening hours vary depending on the season. For further information check

00:34 The inscription from King George, Buckingham Palace to the people of Malta can be found on the Grand Master’s Palace (St George’s Square, Valletta).

00:38 The ferry ticket to Gozo costs 4,65€ (one passenger, roundtrip). You pay on your return trip. For further infromation check

00:40 The Azure Window (San Lawrenz) is situated on the westcoast of Gozo nearby the village of Dwejra.

00:42 Wied L-Ghasri (Ghammar) on the central northcoast of Gozo can be reached from Victoria heading out north on Triq L Imghallem and following the road all the way to straight to the coast.

00:44 San Blas Bay is situated on the northeastern coast, a 30min walking trip from the village of Nadur.

00:48 The family-run farmhouse restaurant Diar il-Bniet (Main Street, Had-Dingli) serves mains from 9-20€. For further information check
00:52 The Grand Harbour Marina (Vittoriosa) lies between Vittoriosa and Senglea. There is a Valletta Ferry Service Stop. For further information on how to get there by ferry check

00:55 The Lost & Found Festival takes place each spring. For further information on the electronic music festival check

00:59 Churches worth a visit include St Paul’s Cathedral (Pjazza San Pawl, Mdina), Church of St Paul’s Shipwreck (Triq San Pawl, Valletta) and St John’s Co-Cathedral (Triq ir-Repubblika, Valletta).

Exploring Gozo by Sports Buggy - Malta

#Malta #Trekking #gozo #buggy

Me and Sharon crossed over by ferry to our sister island Gozo. Here we go to our trusted Gozo Quad Hire and rented a Sports Buggy. These buggies are so new that I was the first customer, yeahhhh ! With the buggy first we went to explore Sapu Tower in Nadur, which offers beautiful cliff views. From here we went to visit Ta Kola Windmill in Xaghra , a beautiful restored windmill, was amazing to see its restored mechanism. And till now all the hard work was done by the buggy, but from here we went to explore Tas-Salvatur Hill in Zebbug where one can find a landmark in Gozo a very big statue on top of a steep and rugged hill, not best done in summer hehe, you will hear me puffing ! Then from here we go to visit the saltpans in Qbajjar and Reqqa Point. Then we fished off, in one of my favourite spots in Gozo , Inland Sea in San Lawarenz.

Ramla Bay or Ramla l-Hamra, is located at the bottom of a rich and fertile valley just beneath the village of Xaghra. Ramla Bay has a splendid stretch of orange sand with blue waters. Beach facilities include cafés, water sports and sunshades are available on the beach.

Romans Remains:
A 19-room Roman Villa-Bathhouse were discovered beneath the sands. 1910, Dr Temi Zammit led the excavations. The remains were covered in 1915 to protect from posterity. The artifacts and site plans are displayed at the Archeology Museum.

Calypso Caves
According to Homer in The Odyssey, the nymph Calypso lived in this cave and it is where she entertained Ulysses for 7 years before he resumed his journey.

Ramla Batteries & Redoubts:
Between 1715-1716, the Knights of St John began building a series of fortifications to guard the bay to prevent the invaders and pirates from disembarking at ease. The plans were further developed by the French military architect

Underwater Obstruction: In 1723 century, the Knights built the underwater walls to obstruct the entrance of vessels from the enemy into the bays.

Ramla Fougasse
Built by the Knights, the fougasse is a rock-cut cannon with the axles pointing at the probable route that the enemy would take. It is charged with a barrel of gunpowder and loaded them with rocks. It is to discharge a shower of stone to damage the enemy galleys.

Nadur Ta Kenuna
The Kenuna Tower was built in 1848 by the British and served as a telegraph link between Malta and Gozo. From Ta Kenuna, it offers most beautiful panoramic views of the fields, Comino Island and Malta.
