17 km before Kavala, on the road from Thessaloniki, another typical Greek resort.
With just over 3,500 permanent residents, Nea Peramos is one of the largest towns in the Kavala area.
The history of this place, like all other Greek places whose name begins with Nea or Neos, lasts about 100 years, more precisely since 1923, when the Greeks from the town of Peramos from Asia Minor, in a population exchange and after the end of the Greek-Turkish war settled today's territory and gave it the name new Peramos or Nea Peramos.
The great popularity of this place contributed to the rapid development of Nea Peramos, so here you can find everything you might need on your vacation.
restaurants, bakeries, super markets...with a smaller Masutis, while in neighboring Nea Iraklitsa, about 3 km away, you have a large Masutis and Lidl if you are a fan of larger markets.
souvenir shops as well as various other shops for shopping lovers ... and even a charger for electric cars. In Peramos, there is one smaller and active gas station and one that is not working at the moment. Along with two gas stations in neighboring Nea Iraklitsa, you will have a choice when buying fuel, but LPG users will have to go to Kavala because these gas stations do not have that type of fuel.
There is a doctor in Nea Peramos but also a pediatrician and even 3 pharmacies in case you need such help during your vacation.
Along the beach, there is an organized promenade with lots of greenery, as well as cafes and taverns with beautiful gardens. In the main part of the season, the central street is closed to traffic, so you can enjoy your evening walks in peace.
In addition to the free children's park on the main promenade, there is also an amusement park for children.
For those a little older, there are several cafes with various programs, but the best parties are in the beach bars on the nearby Ammolofoi beach.
In the far right part, on the hill, there are the remains of the Byzantine castle and the city of ANAKTROPOLI, which you can visit for free every day from 08:30 to 15:00 except Tuesdays and holidays. An exceptional view can give you unforgettable photos, and the interesting thing about this castle and the city is that it was also conquered by our emperor Dušan.
On the far left is the port from which, among other things, ferries leave for the island of Thassos, which is located across from Nea Peramos, but these ferries only carry goods, while people can reach Thassos from the ports of Kavala and Keramoti.
You can visit three extremely beautiful Greek Orthodox churches in Nea Peramos: the church of Saint Emperor Constantine and Empress Jelena, the Church of the Virgin of Revelation and the most beautiful among them the Church of St. Nicholas.
Apart from tourism, the inhabitants of Nea Peramos are mainly engaged in agriculture, so here you can also enjoy local products such as grapes, wine, tsipuro, olives, oil... Since there is no larger, organized market apart from this improvised one, if you can't find a recommendation from one of the locals, you can buy all these products and much more at the market in Kavala, 18 km away, every Saturday from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. For those who do not go by car, there is a bus every half hour on the line Nea Peramos-Kavala, and the ticket price is 1.6 euros.
You somehow fall in love with Kavala at first sight or on your first visit, and for a deeper analysis it certainly takes more time, but what is it that you should definitely not skip, next to the market, if you are passing by like me.
Climbing the narrow streets of the old town in Kavala, at the end you reach the symbol of Kavala. The current form of the fortress is from the time of the Ottoman Empire, from the 15th century, and then it was built on the ruins of the Byzantine acropolis. There is an entrance fee to the fortress, and in the season it is open daily from 08:00 to 21:00. In addition to viewing parts of the fortress, you can also enjoy the open-air theater here, and the main attraction of the fortress is its highest point, the tower, which you climb up to by narrow stairs, and on the top you have an incredible view extends to all parts of Kavala. The ascent to the fortress is quite difficult. At the time of our visit, we paid 4.5 euros per visitor, but the experience and feeling after the visit are incredible good.
The aqueduct in Kavala, better known as Kamares, is another feature of this city.....

It is 3 km long and mostly quite narrow.
In the left part, the sand is slightly coarser and only in the first two meters when entering the water, and it becomes finer as we go to the right side.
The entry into the water is clean with the same sand quality as on the beach.
The seabed is also clean and safe even for the youngest swimmers, and the gradual entry into the water is a feature in all parts of the beach.
Across the beach is the smaller island of Petrani, which can be reached by swimming and is an excellent location for diving.
The beach is organized by cafes and restaurants, where you get a free sunbed and umbrella with the ordered drink, but there is also plenty of free space for your beach equipment.

At the back of the beach there is a playground for children, so if you choose this, the middle part of the beach, your children will be able to enjoy this park during their swimming break.
In several places along the beach there are places to change and showers.
On the city beach in Nea Peramos, there is no possibility to rent props for water sports.
The advantage of every city beach, including this one, is that there are shops, bakeries, and pastry shops nearby where you can easily buy the things you need at that very moment.
The beach has similar characteristics in almost the entire part, but my favorites are the one to the right of the middle, somewhere around the lifeguard house, and the far right part, near the fortress, where the color of the sea is the most beautiful.

The history of this place begins only after the First World War, when refugees from Asia Minor inhabited this town, which even today has barely more than 1000 inhabitants. Accommodation facilities are along the entire beach, but most of them are in the right part, where a good part of the villas are on a hill with a phenomenal view from the terrace. At the same time, this part has the largest concentration of cafes, taverns, various shops and souvenir shops…
Nea Iraklitsa has two large super markets, but also several smaller ones, so when we add a bakery, a butcher and a fish shop, the supply will certainly not be a problem for you on your summer vacation. Iraklitsa does not have a medical clinic, the nearest one is only 3 km away in the neighboring Nea Peramos, but it has a well-stocked pharmacy if you need such help. Solidly large port is located on the far right and also an opportunity for easy evening walks and taking beautiful pictures next to expensive sailboats at sunset…
From the port, along the entire beach leads a landscaped paved promenade decorated with a large number of palm trees, which especially in the evening when mixed with the lights of the surrounding taverns and cafes give a special touch. In the background of the beach is an extremely beautiful and large playground for children and in the evening there are devices that children adore.
From the small peninsula, which is located right next to the marina, there is a beautiful view of the entire bay and there is a chapel dedicated to St. Marina. In the Orthodox world, Nea Iraklitsa is also known for the miraculous icon of the Most Holy Mother of God of Revelation, painted by the Apostle Luke and found in Iraklitsa in Turkey and transferred to Nea Iraklitsa together with refugees in 1922. It was originally transferred to Mount Athos, but then, at the request of the population of Nea Iraklitsa, it was returned to the local church in 1932. They say that the icon is miraculous and healing, and in the same church are the relics of Saint Charalampius.
Narrow streets, a large number of accommodation capacities and the problem with parking are the features of all places in Greece, but Iraklitsa has a huge public parking lot in the left part, so you may not find a free space right in front of the apartment, but parking should not be a problem. This parking is paid 2 euros per day. Behind the large parking lot there are several sports fields and outdoor playrooms for children.
Agencies in Nea Iraklitsa also offer day trips to Thessaloniki or boat cruises to Mount Athos, and due to the proximity of the island of Thassos, a day trip to this beautiful island can be a good idea.
Nea Iraklitsa does not have a traditional market or what the Greeks would call a laiki agora which may not be bad because this one in Kavala is only 10 minutes away by car, really impressive. The market is every Saturday from 05:00 to 15:00 and is especially known for its very reasonable prices of clothes, so it is visited from all parts of northern Greece.
Fuel supply when you are in this area will not be a problem for you because you have as many as 4 gas stations within a radius of 3 km. None of them have LPG, but 14 km away, right at the entrance to Kavala on the right, you will be able to find this type of fuel.
The prices of accommodation in Nea Iraklitsi are average and maybe even a little below that. The same could be said for other prices, at least from what we tried, so if we take into account the proximity of the big city and the possibility of cheaper shopping in Kavala, it can be said that Iraklitsa I is a financially favorable destination.
Nea Iraklitsa is an ideal choice for anyone who wants a small, quiet summer resort, without fancy content and nightlife. At the same time, it would suit those who want to be close to a bigger city, such as Kavala, where they can go shopping or having fun in 10 minutes and return to peace and relaxation. Thessaloniki is also close, an hour and a half drive away.

Ljubitelji shoping-a će posebno uživati u Kavali jer ćete ovde pronaći gotovo sve poznate svetske brendove....Nedaleko od glavnog gradskog trga nalazi se i shoping centar....a 12 km izvan Kavale i veliki Jumbo.Ipak kome su i cene veoma bitan faktor savetujem da sačuvate novac i u povratku svratite do Soluna gde su kupovine ipak povoljnije.Svake subote se u Kavali organizuje tradicionalna Grčka pijaca...Pored brojnih domaćih proizvoda,na ovoj pijaci izuzetno povoljno možete da kupujete i neke druge proizvode široke potrošnje.Uveče je najinteresantnije na šetalištu koje se prostire od Luke Svetog Pavla neposredno pored mora.Pored gužve i raznih dešavanja izuzetan je i pogled na osvetljeni stari grad...Vrlo interesantan i lep je i centralni gradski trg.Trg Slobode...sa uličicama koje se ulivaju u njega.Još jedna velika prednost ovako velikog grada je i bogati noćni život...

One of the most beautiful beaches in Northern Greece, often on the top 10 lists of the most beautiful beaches in all of Greece is located about 6 km from Nea Iraklitsa or about 10 minutes by car and 3 km from Nea Peramos or about 5 minutes by car.
Ammolofoi beach consists of 3 bays and has a total length of over 3km.
Considering that the width of the beach goes up to 50 meters, it is not too crowded even in the season, even if the beach is extremely popular.
Literally translated, the name Ammolofoi would be sand dunes and you can see how this name came about,because the sand on the beach is extremely fine, I would say real desert.
The shoal lasts a long time and the sand is fine even in the water, so the youngest swimmers on Ammolofoi are extremely safe.

The quality of the beach is the same in all three parts of Ammolofoi beach…
You will not need masks and fins on this beach because the seabed is completely clean, so diving enthusiasts will have to look for another location.

Most of the beach is taken care of by several extremely beautiful and interesting beach bars, where the prices of services are varied… In one of the beach bars you can also pay for the service of keeping your valuables in the safe…. You do not need to worry about parking on this beach because the beach is outside the village and there are plenty of parking spaces in the background of the beach, so if you are early you can find shade for your car.

There are also showers and changing cabins within the cafe, but also toilets that even the most luxurious hotels would not be ashamed of.

Rapsani is a city beach in the heart of the resort town of Kavala. Since 2009, it has regularly received the Blue Flag Award for his cleanliness and organization. If you can’t leave the city for a long time, and you want to relax, Rapsani will be a great option for relaxing near all the benefits of civilization.
The entrance to Rapsani is free of charge and it can be reached by bus routes No. 1, 4, 5, 8 and 10. The narrow and elongated beach area of Rapsani is covered with golden sand with sometimes falling pebbles (however, pleasant to the touch). The beach is bounded by two stone ridges on both sides. The entrance to the water to Rapsani is gentle, the first few meters near the shore the bottom is quite shallow, then it gradually deepens. So families with young children on the beach will be quite comfortable.
The infrastructure here is well developed: there is a standard set in the form of a pair of rows of deck chairs and umbrellas, urn, shower and cabin for dressing. In the beach area there is a couple of tavernas, and in the vicinity there are full shops and supermarkets where you can get everything necessary for an ideal vacation. Rapsani can be filled with people on weekends, but his beautiful conditions do not affect it.
