Munxar 100m sea cave Malta

#Malta #kayak #explore #Ritzkayaks

Today will start my adventure from Marsascala, exactly Saint Thomas Bay. From here I will make my way to Munxar window, which is a must, every time I pass from here. Here one also can find a small beach and 2 pillboxes of WW2. From were we follow Munxar cliffs until we find our cave. This cave is very large and in most part very wide. A word of caution , do not enter if sea is not calm and also keep in mind its a natural cave ! Lights are advisable and pref. water resistant too. This cave is appox 100m or morein length, the latter part can only be accessed if sea is flat calm and sea level is low. If you continue in on your right one can sea sunlight coming in and one can exit trough a very low exit (if sea conditions are right). From here one can visit an other cave just 5m away. Very spectacular.

For those interested in hiring a Kayak Tour from Get Out and Kayak both of Facebook and instagram one can use promo Code FAR2022 and get 10% discount ! Enjoy

Hope you enjoy

MALTA: Islands of Amazing History and Nature [Amazing Places 4K]

The Maltese Archipelago, located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, is made up of three islands: Malta, Gozo, and Comino. With a history spanning over eight thousand years, the archipelago boasts not only a rich cultural heritage but also stunning landscapes. The seven megalithic temples in Malta were built between 6,000 to 4,500 years ago. Over the centuries, the Maltese islands have been ruled by various powers, including the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Aragonese, the Order of the Knights of St John, French, and British. Malta has three Unesco Heritage Sites and seven on the Tentative List.

Il - Hofriet Delimara and Munxar caves by Kayak Malta

Hello all, This time I am launching my Kayak from Marsascala and first visit Munxar Window, very nice area for a swim. Then follow Munxar cliffs until Delimara to Xorb l-Ghagin, there I will visit Hofriet (holes). Here we can find a very spectacular whole or tunnel in the cliffs. Very popular for swimming especially for those going with boats. Then we had to Muxar again and visit some beautiful sea caves. Hope you enjoy.

Munxar Trek Marsascala Malta

I will trek the Munxar Marsaskala area. In this short trek I will show you 2 WW2 pillboxes, beautiful clifffs, and even some small beaches and even a small tower. We will end the trek at Xorb l-Ghagin. On the way I even found a memorial for a gunner named P.Farrugia. An other interesting thing to see what looks like curts ruts going into the sea.

MALTA - Travel Guide | Around The World

Malta is a small, island country in the Mediterranean Sea that lies south of the island of Sicily, Italy. Malta is an archipelago, but only the three largest islands of Malta, Gozo (Għawdex) and Kemmuna (Comino) are inhabited.

Cities :
Valletta — the capital, named for Jean Parisot de la Valette, a French nobleman who was Grand Master of the Order of St. John and leader of the defenders during the Turkish siege of Malta in 1565. Valletta is a UNESCO World Heritage site for the massive number of historical buildings found in a tiny space.
Cottonera (Three Cities) — The name used when referring to the three historic and ancient cities of Birgu (aka Vittoriosa), Isla (aka Senglea) and Bormla (aka Cospicua), three towns conglomerated by 16th century fortifications called the Cottonera lines. This is the area where the Great Siege was fought and won!
Marsaxlokk — fishing village south of the island. A big market is held every Sunday. Pronunced 'mar-sah-schlok'.
Mdina — Malta's well-preserved quiet old capital (pronounced 'im-dina'). Called the Silent City, Mdina sits in the center of the main island Malta and offers amazing views across the plans to the coast line.
Mgarr — A typical rural village, northwest of Malta (pronounced 'im-jarr').
Rabat — hosts numerous historical attractions such as St. Paul's catacombs and the Domus Romana (previously known as Roman Villa)
St. Julian's — Includes the area North of Valletta and part of St. Julian's Bay crosses into Sliema. A great place to find tour boats.
Sliema — shopping area just north of Valletta. Sliema offers a wonderful sea side walking area that is popular to joggers. It is popular for its rock beach that is a great walking place, it is solid rock, not made of rocks.
Victoria — the capital city of Gozo.

Other destinations :
Hagar Qim and Mnajdra - Two very beautiful stone age temples set on the cliffside of south west Malta. Their majesty is now protected by tents and a 2 storey new building nearby. Built around 3600 BC these structures are older than the pyramids.
Mellieħa - A locality in Malta surrounded by the largest and some of the most wonderful sandy beaches on the Islands. Two miles from Mellieħa lies the Popeye Village which was built as a filming set for the 1980 film Popeye.
Golden Bay - One of Malta's most beautiful sandy beaches, on the northwest coast of the island.
Għajn Tuffieha - Long Steps Bay, just behind Golden Bay. Just as beautiful, but less crowded during the high season.
Blue Grotto - A series of seven caves and inlets on the southern side of Malta famous for deep blue waters and spectacular natural rock formations. The Blue Grotto may be accessed by small traditional boats, skippered by cheerful Maltese guides, which leave from a well-signposted pier just off the main road along the south coast. The boat ride costs €8 per person.
Clapham Junction - An area of western central Malta (not far from Buskett woods) where deep ruts in the bedrock appear to have been formed in the remote past by wagons or carts. Some of these ruts cross rock-cut Punic tombs, proving that the ruts existed before the tombs. In the vicinity there are large caves which used to be inhabited by troglodytes.
Saint Thomas Bay - A quaint inlet, 1km beyond Marsaskala, with a sloping, built up area on one side, and barren Munxar white cliffs on the other. There are 2 small sandy beaches ideal for swimming in summer. Beneath Munxar there is now a 'window' at the cliff side. Beyond Munxar Point there are amazing, very high, white cliffs, with 2 large and deep caves in them. Many amateur fishermen own boathouses in the vicinity and go fishing whenever the sea is calm.
Saint Peter's Pool - A natural inlet located south of Malta, Delimara area. It looks like a natural swimming pool carved into the rocks.
Mosta Dome - the third largest dome in Europe and the ninth largest dome in the world. On 9 April 1942, a bomb struck the church whilst a religious ceremony was taking place with more than 300 people attending. Luckily the bomb didn't explode.

Munxar Path Marsaskala, Malta

Thanks to the covid restriction I had a great time roaming around the picturesque spot of Marsaskala Malta whilst observing social distancing. Ideally you should visit here and enjoy the sunrise as it is located in the South of Malta. along the seaside with beautiful cliff and crystal blue water. You may see a barrier from the entrance but it is totally ok to go inside the property to go jogging walking or hiking along the seaside with beautiful cliff and crystal blue water. Make sure you don't leave any rubbish to the area clean and green as it is.

Munxar Cart Ruts ? Marsaskala Malta

#Malta #kayak #kayaking @ZOLEOLife
This time my adventure takes me to Marsascala, Munxar cliffs. From top of the cliffs I was always fascinated by what lies beneath the sea ! From up here one can see grooves into the rock that look like cart ruts. So this time with fins and mask, I decided to explore this area. Beautiful area to swim but one have to know from where to go down these cliffs or use a boat or kayak. After looking into these grooves up, I don't think these are cart ruts but hopefully someone with more knowledge can have a better opinion ! Maybe either @MegalithHunter or @pauliecook432 can shed more light on these ! From here I also visit Munxar window and a pill box close by.

Hope you enjoy

Malta Coastal Walk in Three Days

In late November 2019, I tried to walk the entire coast of Malta in three days. My sister and my brother-in-law joined me for the first half of this beautiful hike. We soon realised it was a bit too ambitious a goal, and it should probably be done as a 4-day hike (at least)*. The weather forecasts didn’t let us down, and we got perfect walking weather. Here’s a video of an unforgettable long weekend.

Thanks to Jonathan Henwood and Emmet McMahon for writing the helpful little book ’The Malta Coastal Walk’, and thanks to Bettina Hutschek for lending it to me.

*for time and blister reasons we cut across from Popeye Village to Santa Marija estate, so I went back and did the ‘tail’ of the map later. This also allowed me to see the Red Tower’s completed paint job.
Day 1 - 38km
Day 2 - 34km (plus 15.5km loop from Mellieha bay, circling the ’tail’ of the fish)
Day 3 - 46km
Total - 133.5km (15.5km of which were done at a later date)

We have visited #Malta for 5 days in July 2018. I did not have any high expectations about Malta but Malta blew my mind. The country is very lively and has amazing architecture, churches and landscapes such as Blue Lagoon, Blue Grotto, St Peter's Pool and others.. But.. the most beautiful place which is hardly reached by tourists was FOMM IR RIH it was something from a different world and the cliffs looked amazing! Not to forget to mention Mdina and Valletta no words can describe them :) My advise when you visiting Malta is to hire a car if you would like to explore the island as much as you can. Unfortunately we didn't had the chance to go to Gozo but it will be priority number 1 when we return next time!

P.S. Maltese people are very friendly, helpful, speak fluent English and love to spend their money on fireworks. So if you hear fireworks during your time in Malta be aware it is not some kind of occasion they are celebrating they are just doing it for fun!

Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE! :) More travel videos to come - next destination is Crete in September and deciding where to go next, maybe Philippines or Vietnam? What's on your 'bucket list' when it comes to travel? Please let us know ! (:
