Driving in The beautiful city of Bamenda, Cameroon, Northwest region 2022

#bamenda #cameroon #2022

Bamenda, also known as Abakwa and Mankon Town, is a city in northwestern Cameroon and capital of the Northwest Region. The city has a population of about 2 million people and is located 366 kilometres (227 mi) north-west of the Cameroonian capital, Yaoundé. Bamenda is known for its cool climate and scenic hilly location.

Colonial era
The origins of the city are related to the settlement of the Tikar people who culturally forged and maintained relations with the Kingdom of Bamum in the 1700s.

In 1884, the city was colonized by Germany until 1916 when it became a colony administered by Great Britain and France.

In 1919, the administration of Northwest Region and thus the city of Bamenda became only British. In 1961, the region joined the Cameroon.

Metropolitan area

The city is made up of 3 villages; Bamendakwe, Mankon and Nkwen classified as Bamenda I II and III sub-divisions respectively for administrative reasons. However, it is surrounded by other suburban areas and villages like Bambui, Akum, Bafut, Bali, Chombah and Mbatu.

These suburban areas and villages are fast growing and sometimes considered as part of Bamenda.

Economy

The main industries are the processing of agricultural produce such as coffee, elementary food processing, handicraft, cottage industry, education (schools), tourism/hospitality, construction works and transport.

The local museum and shops display a wide variety of local baskets, beads, woodcarvings and bronze statues.

Transports
The city of Bamenda has road links to Yaoundé and Douala, as well as an airport, Bamenda Airport, located in Bafut subdivision.

City Chemist Round About Bamenda Cameroon ????????

This video video is about city chemist Round About found in Bamenda the capital of the north West region of Cameroon.Situated in the Bamenda 2 subdivision in the North West region of Cameroon, City Chemist Roundabout is an unavoidable junction for city-dwellers.

Popular for numerous economic activities, today some believers of Jesus Christ say City Chemist Roundabout is a seat of a demonic altar of destruction and bloodshed put in place since 1992.

According to Gabsa Glory, coordinator of a group of Christians calling on God for peace in Bamenda, “… the demonic altar was planted at Bamenda’s City Chemist Roundabout in 1992 when a group of women called “Takeumbeng” marched there naked. Twenty-eight years after, the spillover effect of such a practice is still hunting Bamenda and the people that live in the city”.

The Christians hold that insecurity in Bamenda since 2016 is partly because of evil covenants signed with evil creatures for political benefits.

Pastor Buikeh Rene states that “We are rededicating the city of Bamenda to the Lord. We silence all evil accords that are promoting insecurity in Bamenda powerless “.

Using anointing oil as a spiritual weapon, the Christians preaching and praying at the City Chemist Roundabout poured the oil and called on God to take over the city.

The origin of trouble in Bamenda, as stated by the Christians, contradicts pro-ambazonia activists who think the continuous marginalization of anglophones by anglophones is the cause.

After the prayers, inhabitants of Bamenda are impatiently waiting to see positive changes.

Kurume - Cameroon 1990 - PART 2

In 1972, I left Cameroon without my mother's knowledge, for USA. Filled with hope to change my family and country, I returned to a good job I loved until people tried to force their non-ethical attitudes towards funds that belong to the people of Cameroon on me.
I returned to the USA in 1981, disillusioned but never faltering in my love for where my embryonic sac was buried -- KURUME.
I stayed away until 1990 and since then, it is my mission to make a difference with the little I have. Now I return several times every year to help out my communities
