Atacames, Sua and Same are considered the most beautiful beaches in Ecuador along with Tonsupa, Playa Las Palmas in Esmeraldas CIty and Playa Escondida which I have dedicated videos.
This is part of a larger Esmeraldas travel video series to show you it is possible to visit the Esmeraldas province but you just need to know where to go...and more importantly where not to go.
It has been my favourite province in Ecuador for food and the beaches here are unmatchable. The people are also so friendly and helpful when you ask them about safety in Esmeraldas. We always asked locals in advance if someone we wanted to go was safe or not. If they say a place is complicated or difficult, it's best to skip it.

The Local’s Only Beach in Esmeraldas ECUADOR
Esmeraldas City may not be the safest to travel, Las Palmas beach at the end of the city is a family friendly beach with delicious Esmeraldan food.
Comida Esmeraldeña is without a doubt the best in Ecuador. I haven't had a single meal that wasn't incredible. And while I don't like to play favourites, you cannot ignore that cooks from Esmeraldas have a special sazon that is just magic.

SAN JACINTO Manabi, So charming I forgot about San Clemente | Ecuador
San Clemente may be popular with expats but neighbouring San Jacinto in Manabi has an infectious local energy.
The great thing is you don't have to choose, San Jacinto, San Alejo and San Clemente are small villages along the same stretch of beautiful beach in Ecuador.
Kimberly, the owner of The Cottages by the Sea ( invited us to come stay with her if we were ever traveling through the region and I'm so glad we did!
The cottages are an oasis! And perfectly situated in San Alejo so you can walk a few blocks to the right and arrive in San Clemente or a few blocks to the left in San Jacinto.
I intended to spend time in all three but I really enjoyed San Jacinto the most so I always wanted to walk left. While San Jacinto isn't as pretty, it has fantastic local food and you can watch the fishermen come in.
If you want to take a mangrove tour at La Boca they are run by official guides. Pascual was great. He only speaks Spanish but even if you don't understand it's a beautiful view and both he and the boat driver point out birds and iguanas +593 98 898 8583

My Quito Hotel organized a walking tour of Quito in all the unexpected places.
Casa Gangotena is in a former mansion on famous San Francisco Plaza in the heart of the historic district. It may be luxury but they also connect you to the non-touristy side of Quito Ecuador!
Thanks so much to Casa Gangotena for inviting me to explore their hotel and also share an incredible experience with Metropolitan Touring who partnered with Caminos San Roque, taking us to their neighbouring San Roque market and businesses on a walking tour of Quito.
We would have never known where to find Chica de Jora, the local businesses and an incredible chocolate experience.
Quito is such an amazing city with so much to offer. This is a boutique hotel but they are really integrated into the community.

CUENCA Ecuador Tour with a Local! | ECUADOR Travel Guide
Walking tour of Cuenca Ecuador considered the most beautiful city in Ecuador. I'm spending the day with my friend Andres, a tour guide who knows the best things to do in Cuenca.

Many people retire in Cuenca Ecuador, there are lots of Expats. But it isn't a gringo town, it's a colonial city with lots of Ecuadorian culture, history and heritage...and known to have the best food in Ecuador.
We stopped at the corte de justicia or the justice court then el Seminario San Luis which is at one point it was where you would study to become a priest and is now really a court of a bunch of different restaurants, most of them are international and so I wasn't really keen to have breakfast there.
Instead I tried Angelus which is a very local spot right on the main square. Normally when you kind of go to a restaurant on the main square, you think it's super touristy but really this is all like Ecuadorians coming here. I got mote pillo and I am first with, like, oh my gawd, there's some kind of crazy cheese in here, but no, not at all.
When you come to Ecuador and you have the eggs, you will notice that the yolks here are so orange and bright and that's because you're probably going to be having free range eggs. Mote pillo is a classic Ecuadorian breakfast with hominy, eggs and cheese.
We also visited both the New Cathedral in Ecuador which is home to stained glass by an Indigenous Artist and climbed to the top of the Cathedral for $1.
At El Monasterio del Carmen, or the Carmen Monastery 12 nuns live here cloistered. There are actually two cloistered monasteries in Cuenca, but only a handful left in all of Latin America. And nuns come in here. And they never leave. They dedicate their lives to being inside the monastery for their life. They are famous for agua de pitimas, and pitimas means more please. It's made with herbs and flower petals for 50 cents
This is supposed to cure a number of things from insomnia to stomach problems to if you have skin problems. I've had this before because I had dry skin coming to this like very arid Andes.
Homero Ortega is a luxury Panama Hat museum and shop. They had people who are very famous from Ben Affleck to Johnny Depp. Hats here can cost up to $2500 but are sold for three times that outside Ecuador.
Lunch outside Cuenca in the San Joaquin neighbourhood at Cristol del Consuelo. We got the Bandeja Cristo del Consuelo which has a number of different kinds of meat, some sides, some avocado.
The Turi bus takes you on a tour of Cuenca to the Mirador or lookoff. It is only $5. Once there they offer you a glass of canelazo. But we did not follow the group.
We came up to the very top to the bar cafeteria restaurante La Colina. Canelazo is an alcoholic drink made with aguardiente, very typical drink in the Andes with aguardiente, an unaged sugarcane alcohol and they mix it with naranjilla fruit cinnamon and sugar. Everyone, again has their own recipe.

We popped in for lunch to try the famous blue crab cooked in coconut sauce. Unfortunately it wasn't available but they did have pata de burro. This Ecuadorian food is only found in Esmeraldas and while many foods on the coast are supposed to enhance the mood for love, this one is the most famous.

Nuestra aventura nos tiene preparado conocer las playas más bonitas de la provincia verde. Hablamos de Tonsupa y las virginales playas de Muisne. Tonsupa está ubicada a 26 Km al suroeste de la provincia de Esmeraldas, cuenta con una completa infraestructura para complacer a los más exigentes turistas. Su clima privilegiado durante todo el año, fluctúa entre los 28° y 36° grados centígrados.

En #Muisne al sur de #Esmeraldas está la isla #Portete un lugar lleno de #magia por su encanto natural.
La ruta hacia #Mompiche conduce al acceso rápido donde se ubica un parqueadero vehicular, para tomar una lancha por 1 dólar que en un par de minutos nos traslada a la isla, para luego a bordo de una tricimoto por un costo de $2 dólares por persona llevarnos hasta uno de los hospedajes locales con vista al mar.
Aquí se vive una experiencia única e inolvidable en conexión con la naturaleza, deleitándonos de cada detalle, un baño en sus cálidas aguas o tan solo disfrutar de una caminata por la playa, donde sus inmensas palmeras son un cautivante complemento del paisaje y le dan un toque especial a esta maravillosa isla que cuenta con cabañas que ofrecen su deliciosa gastronomía. Además desde aquí se puede apreciar el Royal Decameron de Mompiche.
