The most beautiful Mornington Peninsula attractions are all free-of-charge and really are Mother Nature's finest works of art. We head down every summer and stumble upon a new natural marvel each time, which is why we can never get enough of its beauty. If you're not up for a 3-hour trip to see the sights down at the Great Ocean Road, I would highly recommend a day or weekend trip to this gorgeous corner of Victoria that - pretty much - is almost the same thing but on a smaller scale.
And, of course - a trip here isn't complete without a visit to the Mornington Peninsula Spa, or Hot Springs. After a long day of hiking jagged coastlines and exploring various beaches, relax and unwind in these natural mineral pools and soak up the serene atmosphere that surrounds you.
Only a short one and a half hour drive from the CBD - it's a perfect Melbourne day trip and one of the best things to do in Victoria, Australia.

4K - Walking around McCrae Town centre and Beach , Victoria, Australia - 10th July 2020
McCrae is a small coastal village between Dromana and Rosebud at the foot of Arthurs Seat along the shores of Port Phillip. It offers a long beautiful white sandy beach and shallow swimming which is favoured by families, along with a supermarket as well as cafes and restaurants across the road.
The McCrae Lighthouse is a local landmark which was built to mark the turning point for shipping in the main navigational channels between Port Phillip Heads and Melbourne.
Safe swimming can be had at the white sandy beaches along the length of the foreshore reserve from the headland of Anthony’s Nose to Rosebud. There is also camping available in the foreshore reserve in the warmer months which see campers starting to take their sites from mid to late November until Easter.
This coastal strip is known as the foreshore and forms part of the 28km Bay Trail for walkers and cyclists that runs along the Port Phillip coastline from Safety Beach to Portsea.
McCrae is approximately a 1 hour 25 minute (90 minute) drive by car from Melbourne.

Mini Getaway in Mount Martha – Victoria, Australia
Mount Martha is an ideal destination for those visitors seeking a scenic and less commercial holiday location where the surrounding bushland meets the coast.
Mount Martha Beach is home to some of the most beautiful bathing boxes on the Mornington Peninsula. This beach is 2 km long, with Balcombe Creek mouth dividing it into two equal halves: Mount Martha (South) and Mount Martha North.
Also of interest to nature lovers is 50 hectare Mount Martha Park which consists of 53 hectares of native bushland and walking trails around the 160 metre highest point of Mount Martha with panoramic views of west over Port Phillip bay and south towards Arthurs Seat.

4K - Walking through The Briars, Mount Martha, Victoria, Australia 23 June 2020
In this video I explored The Briars.
The Briars is a beautiful 230 hectare property in Mount Martha which is a popular destination for both locals and tourists alike.
Visitors can enjoy walks and wildlife spotting through the wildlife sanctuary or become immersed in history with a tour through the heritage homestead.
There is a Nursery housed on the property and offers a range of beautiful native and indigenous plants for home gardens while the Eco-Living Display Centre provides visitors with all the tips and tricks needed to make your home resource efficient.
The Briars is now a National Trust property. The homestead was originally constructed in 1851 when owner Alexander Balcombe lived at the property with his young family.
The Briars invite you to wander the many nature walks, explore the historic homestead and become familiar with the local wildlife.
The Briars also features a visitor's centre, wildlife sanctuary, wetlands, gardens, cafe, restaurant, outdoor education camp, astronomy centre and picnic areas.

I've visited Victoria a number of times but mostly to see family so I haven't explored as much of this beautiful state so here we are - 6 months later and I'm finally uploading this video!
It was a great way to start the start of summer. Can't wait to explore more of this beautiful state!

Beautiful Mount Martha shot in 4K
Mount Martha Beach - 4k drone Fossil Beach, Bird Rock Beach, Hawker beach
We start at Fossil beach, a Sandy beach lined with limestone cliffs & a sea well known for its geological discoveries.
A Cement Company operated here from 1862-1864. They didn't have enough quality raw materials to continue and the site soon fell into ruin. In the late 1960s the site was excavated. The remains of the small kiln can be seen from the track down to the beach.
In 1854, a multitude of fossils where found in the limestone cliffs. They showed evidence of Australian sea life from 10-15 million years ago and led to the beach being named Fossil Beach.
Many locals will tell you that Mount Martha South Beach would have to be one the best parts of Mount Martha beach to swim and some rate it as one the best on the bay. It offers great sand banks and swallow water for kids , crystal clear water great rock pools and snorkelling on the end.
Definitely worth a visit if you like a less crowded beach and check out the colourful bathing boxes there.
