How To Spend A Weekend In Bowral, NSW Southern Highland
In this video, I am going to take you to Bowral NSW for a weekend road trip from Sydney. Bowral is the largest town in the Southern Highlands in New South Whales, and is the perfect day trip or weekend getaway for Sydneysiders. This video was recorded back in June 2022, which was in deep winter season in Sydney.
Bowral is located in Sydney south, about 120 kms away, approximately 90 mins drive. It used to be the summer retreat area for the rich and famous from Sydney due to its cool climate. This area is also a wine region, such as Centennial Vineyards, and it’s a huge vineyard and the wine tasting costs $10 per person.
We booked to stay at Gibraltar Hotel through booking.com. It’s a boutique hotel and it’s not cheap. However, this maybe the best quality hotel in Bowral area.
I would suggest anyone travelling down to Bowral to book their restaurant dining in advance, if you like to have a proper dining experience, as it’s can be booked out during the weekend. That’s what happened to us, and we were lucky to be able to find a table in Eccetara Italian restaurant, which we had a very good experience with that night.
We further our road trip experience by visiting some friends who live in Moss Vale, and had a lunch with them before we headed back to Sydney.

Hello, hello, hello!
Oh man it was nice to be out of the city and get a change of scenery after 2 whole years staying within Sydney boundaries. We went to Bowral in Southern Highlands to stretch our legs and our stomachs.
We visited the award winning Gumnut Patisserie to sample their delicious meat pies, explored the nearby walking trails for some amazing views, had delicious wines at Bendooley Estate and rushed in for freshly made cream scones at Your Vintage Occasion Tea Salon.
International travel might not be an option just yet, but just as I rediscovered my city of Sydney this year, I think its time to rediscover NSW. ????

Overview
With all that has gone on this year and looking at Phil being away for a few months longer, I decided I needed some me-time. I set out on a solo adventure for 5-nights, just me and our trusty Mazda.
In this video, I explore some of my favourite spots in the Southern Highlands, Mittagong, Berrima and Bowral. Towns are not all I visited, I enjoyed being revived by visiting Lookouts and waterfalls.
Berrima was the main reason that I want to include a stay on the southern highlands NSW and revisiting many other locations was a major blessing and added to my adventure.
Pepper green cellar door was a lovely find and with COVID restrictions making it look as though visiting any cellar door an impossibility being able to walk off the street and be fitted in was a real bonus.
It has been years since I walked these towns or cruise the country roads, but even in the wet visiting, the Southern Highlands did not disappoint.

Moss Vale Southern Highlands NSW Australia
Moss Vale is a town in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia, in the Wingecarribee Shire. At the 2016 census, it has a population of 8,579 and is sited on the Illawarra Highway, which connects to Wollongong and the Illawarra coast via Macquarie Pass.
Moss Vale has several heritage buildings. In the centre of the main street is Leighton Gardens. Moss Vale has undergone recent (2019) gentrification. It has become a hub for independent and creative businesses, including design stores, cafes, and bars. The town has a commercial district and a golf course, including a large parkland, Cecil Hoskins Nature Reserve.

Moss Vale is a charming country escape nestled in the Southern Highlands of NSW. The town is known for wonderful arts and crafts, farms markets, cafes, local breweries, beautiful Leighton Gardens, Historic Railways and beautiful gardens over Spring and Summer.
The town was named after Jemmy Moss, a herdsman at Throsby Park. The town's first Moss Vale railway station was built in 1867, lengthened in 1882, and altered in 1889 to include the Governor's Waiting Room. Moss Vale is known for enjoying warm summers and cool winters.
