This C47 Dakota S/N 43-49377 was delivered to Australia in January 1945. It was inducted into the R.A.A.F. as Aircraft No. A65 – 67 Registered VH – CUX. She served in many different squadrons including the School of Air Navigation at East sale.
In 1975 the Australian Government converted A65 – 67 to a Civilian DC3 and on the 10th October 1975, handed her over to the Papua New Guinea Defence force, in the name of foreign Aid, where she was given the Aircraft No. P2-003 with the call sign “Defence Force 3”
She gave approximately 5000 hours of service to the Papua New Guinea Defence Force until she was pensioned off on the 11th February 1992, when the Port Engine developed a massive oil leak and had to be shut down in flight by the pilot, Flight Lieutenant Tim Shaw R.A.A.F., who landed safely at Port Moresby.
This DC3 was bought by tender from the Papua New Guinea Defence Force in July 1993. The Aircraft was flown to Moree in two stages by Captain Reg Perkins and First Officer, David Kilin. The first flight was conducted from Port Moresby to Cairns on Saturday 21st August 1993 and took 3 hours and 20 mins.
The second flight took place the following week with an additional crew member. Marty Taylor, the proud Owner, and the duration were 5 hours and 13 mins landing in Moree at 7.10pm on Saturday 28th August 1993.

The American company Jell-O celebrated its one-hundredth anniversary in 1997, but if the inventor were still alive, he would probably take little comfort in his product's success. In 1897 Pearl Wait wore many hats. He was a construction worker who also experimented in patent medicines, and he went door to door selling his therapies. In the midst of tinkering and experimenting, he hit upon the idea of mixing fruit flavouring with granulated gelatin. his wife promptly named it Jell-O, and Wait had one more product to peddle. Unfortunately, the initial sales of his jiggly snack were not as strong as he hoped, so he ended up selling his Jell-O rights to Orator Woodward for the paltry sum of $450. Woodward was a savvy businessman. He knew the value of marketing, and within eight years he turned a $450 investment into a million-dollar business. Today, not a single relative of Pearl Wait receives one penny from the one-million-plus boxes of Jell-O sold every day. Why not? Because Wait couldn't wait!

Moree Adventure - Part 2
Moree Adventure - Part 2
Day2 - After driving 8 hours from Sydney we have arrived to Moree yesterday afternoon.
We had some rest , had a chance to dip in the thermal pool in the Gwydir Caravan park to recharge.
They have 5 thermal pools with different temperature.
Today we take our car and tag along with some friends to visit Gwydir Natural Hot Spring which is 1/2 hour south of Moree. The road in some part is unseal and because of the rain was heavy in the last few weeks in Moree so we run into some muddy and water on the road but me manage to get through ok. The weather is great there is no more rain, the temperature for the thermal bath is around 40 degree. It's hotter than our body temperature so it take me a little while before I can fully submerge into the thermal spring .This thermal spring is from underground and it keep coming up to the surface under the pressure which is quite amazing.
Day 3 - Visit Cranky Rock Nature Reserve
Cranky Rock is located about 1 hour or 88.8km east of Moree, you could follow Gwydir Highway B76.
We have passed through Tranawalla Stahman Pecan Nut Farm which you could book in for a tour anytime.
After Warialda about 10 minutes we turned left into Cranky Rock Nature Reserve.
Day 4: Visit Sawn Rocks at Narrabri
Sawn Rocks is located 114km south of Moree and it take about 1.30 hours to get there.
You can either take a seal road or venture to the unseal road to see a lot more of Moree in the country side.
Sawn Rocks is in Mount Kaputar National park

Part 11 of a 12 part series. In 2008 A good friend and I embarked on an epic 4wd journey starting in Adelaide then Travelling up through the center of Australia via the Oodnadatta track, and across to Ayres Rock, Kings Canyon, Devils Marbles and then going right up into the Gulf of Carpentaria then across the tablelands to Cairns before following the east coast of Queensland down into New South Whales before heading inland again and travelling through the outback along the Darling river and then returning to Adelaide. The Adventure took approximately 6 weeks and was a truly awesome experience.
