Monthey - Switzerland
Monthey is Swiss Commune in Canton of Valais, located in Chablais, at the foot of the Dents du Midi. Monthey is at the entrance to the Rhône Valley. It is known for its carnaval festival, one of the largest in Suisse Romande (French Speaking Region in Switzerland).
It is about 52 km from Lausanne and 48 km from Sion.
-Pont Couvert (Couvered Bridge) which you saw in the video is a remarkable structure, was built by the La Bâtiaz (Martigny) the mastery of the carpenters of that time. It was built in 1809, a year before the Valais joined the French Empire and became its 130th department, known as the Simplon. The work, entrusted to Gaspard Egger, master carpenter in Bex, began in April and was completed around November of the same year.
-Église de Monthey: The first church in Monthey dates from 1707. It was surrounded by the cemetery. In poor condition and too small, it was demolished around 1850, except the bell. The current church was built in 1855.

WATCH: Epic Monthey Switzerland 2022 Vieze River Adventure
The Vieze is a river that comes from the mountain, down to the famous Rhone river that flows across Switzerland and France. This small river flows across thew city of Monthey, in Valais and, recently, a hiking trail following this river has been renovated, leading to a nice bridge on top of it. In this video, I show you this small hike, starting from the center of Monthey, at the old bridge that was built in 1809.

¿¿Monthey?? Cuando le dije a mi familia y amig@s que me iba a Suiza, todos me preguntaron. ¿A Ginebra o a Zurich? Y les decía, la verdad: ¡a Monthey!.
¿¿ Monthey?? ¿Dónde esta eso? Yo tampoco había oído hablar antes de Monthey pero la oportunidad de Théâtre du Crochetan y ver todas las actividades que tenían, el gran espacio y todo el material, como un teatro de una gran ciudad, era mi razón principal para venir a esta ciudad.
Una ciudad de menos de 20.000 habitantes y con montañas, Los Alpes de Valais. Gente que he ido conociendo en Suiza en ciudades más grandes, también se sorprendían al saber que había venido de España a Monthey, ¿por qué no Zurich, Berna, Ginebra o Lucerna? ¿Qué hay en Monthey? me preguntaban. ¿No te aburres? Cuando les hablaba de Théâtre du Crochetan, les llamaba la atención. De hecho, algunos amig@s suiz@s han venido por primera vez a Monthey para conocer este teatro y visitarme, claro.
Sin duda, es un teatro muy vivo pero no es lo único bonito que tiene Monthey. Por ello, he querido hacer este video. Dando vueltas por Monthey. Y con ello, inauguro una sección llamada: Dando vueltas por el mundo. Porque me gustaría dar la vuelta al mundo y aunque puedo lanzarme, sin presupuesto, prefiero aprovechar oportunidades y trabajar en diferentes lugares mientras voy descubriendo el mundo, poco a poco. Por ello, de aquí en adelante, cada vez que vaya a una ciudad, por pequeña que sea, voy a hacer un video dando vueltas por ella, en distintos puntos que vea y me gusten o llamen la atención. ¡Bienvenid@s a “Dando vueltas por el mundo”! :)
