On this Episode of Travel Suriname me and my friends traveled East to everyone's favorite town Moengo .There we heard from locals that there is an Cold Dark water Creek with a small rapid in which we can take a dip .

Moengo my Road trip edition (Official Video)
Moengo is a town in Suriname, located in the Marowijne district, between Paramaribo and the border town Albina on the Cottica River. Moengo is also a resort in the district of Marowijne. Moengo was the capital of Marowijne District between 1932 and 1945. The current capital is Albina. A large portion of the population fled the town, the bauxite mine ceased its operations, and several buildings burned down.
Moengo ceased to be mainly dependent on mining in late 20th century. In June 2014, Alcoa announced that the bauxite mine was almost depleted, and wanted to cease operations in Suriname. In 2017, the ownership of Suralco, the local subsidiary, was transferred to the Government of Suriname. road trip moengo and albina is the longest road trip i've made so far. basically it's a 2 hour road trip but i made it up to 45 minutes of video of it. it has been a nice shot together with a friend and it also rained during the recording. Top 10 places to visit in Suriname

Commewijne River in Paramaribo, Suriname
Commewijne River is a river in northern Suriname.
It originates in the hills of the Commewijne District and flows northwards until it receives the meandering Cottica River from the right and then runs westward until it unites with the south-north running Suriname River at Nieuw Amsterdam. Here, after some 30 kilometres it enters the Atlantic Ocean. It has a river basin of 6,600 square kilometres.
Opposite Paramaribo, the banks of the Commewijne River are lined with old plantation properties divided by canals and strewn with the remains of coffee, cacao and sugar cane–processing facilities. The best way to explore is by renting a bike to spend a full day touring the well-defined routes past the plantations.
The Commewijne was important historically for navigation: oceangoing ships navigated the river huge barges with bauxite were transported from Moengo in the east to the confluence with the Surinam river and from there traveled southward via Paramaribo to the Paranam refinery and to Trinidad and the USA. Floats with tropical hardwood were also brought to Paramaribo, the capital of Suriname. Nowadays, the Moengo bauxite is depleted and the hardwood is mostly transported by trucks. The oceangoing ships were trading the river as late as 1986. There remains quite some boat trafficking with local residents and tourists.
The Commewijne River was known in the 16th and 17th centuries as Camaiwini and Cammawini. Today's name Commewijne is probably derived from Arawak words kama (tapir) and wini (water/river).

Again the days went faster than expected. In the past two weeks we made several trips. From the rice district all the way in the West of Suriname, to French Guyana all the way to the east. In between we visited an indigenous village and a former plantation. Enjoy!
