So many great places to see and so many wonderful places to eat. This time, I get to dine with good friends Sam and Clara, and new friend Dar and I get the enjoy Manila's most popular spots. My favourite and probably the most popular in the Philippines is a small fast food grilled chicken spot call @MangInasalPhilippines ... perfectly grilled chicken made to order along with the savoury sweet sauces and yes, the chicken oil...can't forget about the luscious flavourful chicken oil.
But the evening had more treats in store. This will be a visit to the Philippines' most popular buffet called the Vikings Buffet. I had a chance to visit the one in the Mall of Asia and as festive and celebratory as that was, they have another location; one that is a bit more upscale called NIU by Vikings; offering the the great dishes as their original location but with touches of truffles and caviar here and there, and an assortment of seafoods and meats... and of course, the wine, beer, and spirits.

I got a chance to meet up with good friend Michelle and we explored the mean streets of Manila (so to speak) and spent an enjoyable day touring, shopping and eating. Our first stop was in Tokyo town where we found this hidden Japanese restaurant. Service and food was exceptional and the surprise of the day? The wonderful mackerel sashimi! Absolutely a must try... Then we were off to do more walking and exploring.
Really good to work up an appetite as later that evening, there was a trip planned to the Solaire Resort and Casino for their unlimited lobster and seafood buffet! With over 25 lobster dishes on the menu along with the endless buffet, we were in for a treat! Lobster Tempura? or Lobster Kare Kare? How about a Lobster chowder, or a baked cheesy lobster? We can give those all a try and try I did :-)
Amazing hospitality and endless seafood and meats; it was truly one of the best buffets I've been to.

竹富島の町並みや景観が大好きです。朝は観光客も少なく、静まりかえった集落は時間が止まっているようでした。コンドイ浜はかつてないほど浅くて、それでいて綺麗な海の色にビックリ！ 砂の白さのなせる技です。
今回はあえて満潮よりの幻の浜に上陸。足跡のない砂だけの無人島を堪能できました。あちこちで咲き誇るブーゲンビリアや色とりどりの植物、石垣からふと現れる水牛を見て新鮮で癒やされました(^ ^)

Our month long backpacking adventure in Cuba started in the Cuban Far East, in the often ignored city of Holguin. We then went down south to the very lively city of Santiago, a colourful city rich in art and history. Follow us during the first stops around this wonderful island!
CUBA - BARACOA TO HOLGUIN - Humboldt National Park - Moa - Join the Adventure
Baracoa, Cuba is adventure, - Baracoa, Cuba is exotic, - Baracoa, Cuba is next to Humboltdt National Park. Humboldt National Park is adventure even if you just take the Jeep Aventure ride through the park as I did. That adventurous route will also take you through the mining town of MOA. Moa is dirty Moa is industrial but it is part of the Cuba's economy. That route will bring you to Holguin. Holguin will be a surprise. Holguin will amaze you. So come along for the adventure.
CUBA can be exciting and adventurous and certainly the Jeep ride from Baracoa to Holguin falls into the category of exciting and adventurous. Start fresh in Baracoa full of the spirit of adventure - arrive exhausted and drained in Holguin five hours later. Start early in the morning from Baracoa and hold onto your seat as you pass through world famous UNESCO World Hertitage Site Parque Nacional Alejandro Humboldt. The Alexander von Humboldt National Park has historically been an area of land little used by man, with only one archaeological site from the pre-Columbian period being known; this is located in the coastal zone of Aguas Verdes. During the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries some peripheral places were used as refuges or camps by maroons.
The park began to be laid out in the 1960s, with the declaration of the Jaguani and Cupeyal del Norte nature reserves. This continued into the 1980s with the proposal of the Ojito del Agua Refuge, associated with the last sighting of the royal woodpecker, a last remnant of this species which was already extinct in its other habitats in the United States and Mexico. In 1996 these protected areas were united to form a national park that was named after Alexander von Humboldt. Being one of the most important biosphere reserves in the Caribbean basin, the national park, along with Cuchillas del Toa was declared a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site in 2001.
There are unique flora and fauna elements in this unique ecosystem, with some of the highest indexes of endemicity in the archipelago.
