My friends and I took a day trip to Mittenwald, Germany. Mittenwald is a lesser known and traveled town in the Bavarian Alps, and my friends and I decided to hike and explore the town. Mittenwald so far has been one of my favorite places in my time here in Europe. I would list it as one of the off the beaten path and hidden gems in my travels in this continent thus far.

In today’s video, we start our Germany adventure! We took our first day trip out of Munich and summited the famous Zugspitze. From the top you can see Austria, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, & Lichtenstein! We were incredibly lucky to have such incredible weather where we could see peaks from all countries.
Afterwards, we went to Mittenwald to walk around and enjoy the town, since it was included in our train day pass (the Bayern pass).
This is an extremely easy and fun day trip from Munich and we recommend it entirely! Let us know in the comments if you have any questions :)

Mittenwald is a German municipality in the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, in Bavaria. It is situated in the Valley of the River Isar, by the northern foothills of the Alps, on the route between the old banking and commercial centre of Augsburg, to the north, and Innsbruck to the south-east, beyond which is the Brenner Pass and the route to Lombardy, another region with a rich commercial past and present.

The Best Views on the KarwendelBahn Mittenwald Germany 8K
The Karwendelbahn cablecar at Mittenwald only needs a few minutes to whisk visitors from an altitude of 933 metres to 2,244 metres. At the top of the line, they can take in the amazing view of the Isar valley and call into the visitor centre about the Karwendel range's natural environment. The information available there is as engrossing as the building's appearance.
The majestic crags and peaks of the Karwendel mountains stretch between the Inn and Isar rivers, the Seefeld bowl and valley of Achensee lake. Mittenwald is located here, a beautiful little town near the border between Germany and Austria and the headwaters of the Isar. Famous as the home of Bavaria's violin makers and for its unique tradition of frescos, Mittenwald attracts people who want to enjoy the mountain air and the wonderful natural setting of the town. The Karwendelbahn cablecar, opened in 1967, needs just a few minutes to take visitors from the valley station to an altitude of 2,244 metres. The station at the top of the line is the starting point for countless hiking routes and climbs that suit every level of experience. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, the perfect excursion awaits you up here – one of the more advanced routes is the Mittenwald via ferrata ( ideal for experienced climbers who want a new thrill. Novices and families with children can take the Passanami panoramic route, which offers spectacular views of the Alps' foothills and nearby mountains, such as the Zugspitze and Wetterstein peaks. Weather permitting, a professional guide is on hand every Tuesday: during and after the walk, they provide tourists with information about the sights surrounding you and the limestone mountains that make up this section of the Alps.
