10 things to do in Brisbane! Free, Easy, Budget 4 days 3 nights

It's the start of our 2 weeks travel to East Coast ???????? Everyone defines travelling differently, but ours is very much on taking it easy and apprehending the different observations we have seen.. we are particularly interested with history, heritage, food and street walking. Hence, why we skipped Gold Coast (not really into beach and theme parks).

In a summary, take it easy in Brisbane :) We hope there was time for Mount Coot-ha and Ipswich (mining railway town). But take it slow to questions the things you see!

1. Downtown walk - Duh, but if you have been in the Tropics all the while with AC malls, finally an open air boulevard!
2. Cityhall and Museum - Many stories revolve around the central piece of the city so here it is.
3. Groceries - If you are an Asian who goes Hawker stalls to save money on food, this is where you apprehend how the Aussies skip eating out and have a wide variety of pre-cooked food options.
4. Jog - I suppose compared to Syd and Melb, there's a longer and nicer river view boardwalk to run here.
5. Tourist info - Like any city in ????????, drop in for am unbiased view with some chatty old folks!
6. Lonepine - Go hug your Koalas.
7. Ferry to New Farm - Checkout the neighbourhood park.
8. Power house - The creative arts performance node.
9. Market - Only to realise it's super expensive.
10. Southbank - This should be the first thing to do actually!

p/s we went to watch Book of Mormons theatre play too but will not agree that it's a budget thing with 50aud/pax.

There's another deserving place to go for your meal - The Pancake Manor which opens 24 hours serving you all sorts of pancake.

My Trip to Melbourne, Australia - featuring the Puffing Billy Railway - 10/2013

Back in October 2013 - almost 8 years ago now - I went on my first (and so far, only) overseas holiday.

I remember my parents getting cheap plane tickets with Emirates, so we flew to Melbourne on an Airbus A380. Whilst in Melbourne, we went round the city on the trams and commuter trains (otherwise known as MetroTrains, the people behind the Dumb Ways to Die song, if memory serves).

(Here's the song, if you're curious)

Two highlights from the trip were the famous Puffing Billy Railway and SteamRail Victoria shed in Newport. Both railways have a good number of Victorian Railways steam locomotives in their collections. In the latter's case, they have two R class 4-6-4s, built by the North British Locomotive Company of Scotland. This was the same company that built sixteen JA class 4-8-2s for New Zealand Railways (including the now-preserved JA 1275).
