Top 10 Places to Visit in Belarus

#RepublicofBelarus, #EuropeanAdventure, #BelarusianHistory

Welcome to the enchanting realm of Belarus, a captivating European gem often referred to as the Republic of Belarus. Nestled in the northern part of Europe, this former Soviet Union nation is a mosaic of rich history, geographical wonders, and a unique cultural tapestry.

Spanning an impressive 207,600 square kilometers, Belarus is home to around 9.5 million residents, surpassing many of its European counterparts. Unlike its expansive neighbor Russia, Belarus is landlocked, characterized by vast flat terrains and sprawling swampy areas, adorned with lush forests and pristine lakes that cover almost 40 percent of its landscape.

Delving into the annals of history, Belarus has weathered the storms of division by empires such as Russia, Poland, and Austria. The aftermath of World War I saw German occupation and subsequent territorial adjustments. However, the resilient spirit of Belarus prevailed, and in 1991, it emerged as an independent nation while maintaining strong ties with Russia.

Culturally, Belarus shares a profound kinship with Russia, evident in its language, heritage, and religion. Over 80 percent of the population identifies as Orthodox, creating a cultural landscape that seamlessly blends traditional values with the nuances of contemporary life. When it comes to logistics, Belarus welcomes visitors with open arms.

Accessible by plane, its capital, Minsk, serves as a gateway to the country's myriad wonders. Notably, Belarus offers visa-free entry, but for extended stays exceeding 5 days, address registration and health insurance are requisite. Long-term sojourns present diverse pathways, ranging from matrimonial ties with a Belarusian citizen to employment invitations.

Welcome to my channel about life in #Belarus and my travelligs around the world.
Here you will find the latest news about my country, reviews of restaurants, hotels and nightclubs in Minsk. Walking tour videos, so that you can feel the atmosphere of the city.
All the advices which I give you are also based on my experience - for 8 year I have been working like a tourism manager. So I do travel a lot as in my own country so I do abroad.
Let`s enjoy it together!

Travel to Minsk. Life in Belarus today. Interesting facts.

There several ways to get from Moscow to Minsk. You can go by plane, train or by bus or car.
Trains for Minsk depart from the Belorussky railway station, which is obvious judging by the name.
And the Belorussky railway station is located in the very center of the Russian capital, so if you arrive early and have time, you can spend it in one of the many coffee houses.

My train is called Lastochka (swallow). Lastochka trains are with seats only and they are common in Moscow region.
It takes around 7 hours to get to Minsk.
Of course, 7 hours is not a little, considering that the distance between Moscow and Minsk is about 700 kilometers. Compared to Japan, the situation is not so rosy. For example, a shinkansen (bullet train) covers the distance of about 500 km between Tokyo and Osaka in around 3 hours. However, if you choose a train or a plane, I will prefer the train to travel to Minsk, since the road to and from the airport, check-in for a flight and other procedures take a lot of time and effort. And here you got on a train in the very center of Moscow, and no need to think about anything. The ticket price is….
Russian citizens do not need any additional documents or permits to enter Belarus. The thing is that Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia are members of the Customs Union, so moving between these countries is similar to the situation in the EU. Thus, a trip from Moscow to Minsk is like a trip within one country.
The first thing you see when you exit the Minsk central railway station are two 11-story towers in the Stalinist Empire style, adjacent to five-story buildings. The towers are called the Gates of Minsk, they were built in 1953. Ordinary people live in them: apartments were given to railway workers. A huge German-made clock is installed on one of the towers - it came to Belarus as a trophy after the Great Patriotic War. The dial diameter is 3.5 m, and the length of the minute hand is 1 m 69 cm. At first, the clock was mechanical, they were wound by hand several times a day. Later, the mechanism was replaced with a modern one. On the other tower is the coat of arms of the former Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic. The Gate has become a symbol of the city and can be seen on stamps, postcards and magnets.
The Upper Town, or High Market, is the historical center of Minsk and one of the favorite places for tourists and residents of the city. This is the name of the area of Freedom Square and neighboring streets. The upper city began to be built up in the 16th century as a new center of Minsk, after the city suffered from fires and raids of the Crimean Tatars. Wealthy citizens lived here, and the area itself was surrounded by an earthen rampart.
The European spirit of the Belarusian capital is best felt in the Upper Town. People come here to admire the old buildings, sit in cozy cafes, listen to street musicians given the weather is good. The place also offers excellent spots for selfie shots.
In the Middle Ages, the trading square was located on the other bank of the river Svisloch.. Many buildings were demolished during the Soviet era. They were restored only in the second half of the 20th century. In 2004, the western part of the Trinity farmstead received a protected status.
Now Trinity farmstead is a popular tourist destination and a pleasant place for walking and photo shoots.
In everyday life the Russian language is widely used in Belarus. Also, in case the Belarusian language is used, it is easily understood by Russians.
In general, in Minsk you can feel the spirit of Soviet times. I have already spoken about the Soviet buildings opposite the station. If that wasn't enough for you, then visit the subway. It is not as majestic here as in Moscow, but it better conveys the spirit of the Soviet era. Look at this token - it's a real time travel! I thought they were already in the past, but no!! And this is superb!
The trains themselves are also of the old series and better convey the connection of eras.
Another place where you can plunge into postalgia for Soviet times is the central store. The sales system is organized like in the old Soviet times - from behind the counter. In addition, stucco and chandeliers also contribute to immersion in the past.
If we are talking about shopping, let's go to a department store in one Minsk residential areasp . As you can see, the assortment is in a wide range. To be honest, I do not see much difference with similar stores in large Russian cities. In addition, some brands are sold both in Russia and Belarus.
If you are in Minsk for the first time, you can easily take it for Las Vegas due to the large number of casinos. They are everywhere here. The gambling business in Belarus is flourishing. Guests from Russia come here, since in Russia casinos are allowed only in specially designated areas, which are limited.
