Visit Libya

Visit Libya
Libya. Warm sun, warm hearts. A great country with a great history, a country of breathtaking beauty. High mountain chains are just one of the beauties of its fabulous landscape with green fields and sun-drenched Mediterranean beaches. The desert, watered by magnificent oasis, extends far into Africa. Fabulous villages and cities scattered amongst meadows, with oasis everywhere. Historical monuments forests, towering mountains...

and a warm Libyan Arab welcome. Libya's strategic, geographical position and profound history make it a vital link between the eastern and western parts of the Arab world, and between Europe and Africa. The country has known its ups and downs, but the historical monuments are a testimony of the great Libyan civilization of old. Look at the engravings of the AKAKUS mountains, the drawings in the MATCHANDOUSH caves.

The cities of JARMA, ZAKAKRA, and SABHA' in the south, and the historical city of GHIRZA in the centre. Libya has played host to many civilizations, and has enriched civilization in its turn, with writings, drawings and engravings in the caves of TADRART mountains, and archaeological treasures from ATAFT. The Phoenician, Roman, and Byzantine ports of TRIPOLI, SABRATAH, LIBDAH, SHAH'HAT, SUSAH, TUKRAH, and TALMITHA. The old Islamic cities such as SIRT, DARNAH, and AJDABIYA, and other cities in the heart of the desert, including GHADAMES, ZUWAYLAH, JALU, OJLA, GHAT, and FEZZAN. Not forgetting the places and fortresses of GHARYAN, MIZDAH, AL-QARYAT, YIFRAN, JADU, NALUT, MISALLATAH, and AWINAT. The first site most tourists visit is TRIPOLI, Libya's biggest city, the queen of the seas.

It is an historical site. the city of Islamic civilization, Arab art and handicraft, where every monument tells a story. TRIPOLI has changed little since its foundation in the first millennium BC: it is still a lush garden filled with olive trees, palms, grapevines, and orange groves. The city has a wealth of old and new monuments. Travel east or west, to nearby LIBDAH or SABRATAH, and soak up all the history.

Shopping is a great pleasure, especially in the popular markets where you can buy a great variety of Libyan handicrafts such as traditional clothes, carpets, handmade gold and silver jewellery, copper and silver dishes, leather goods, and pottery. Every kind of aquatic sport is practised in the resorts along the coast, where you will also find the port of BENGHAZI, which combines magnificent buildings with large, open spaces.

In nearby SULUQ stands the mausoleum of OMAR MOKHTAR, hero of the Libyan Resistance during the Italian occupation. Take the highway east to the magnificent cities of the Green Mountain: DARNAH with its falls and splendid coast; AL BAYDA', a quiet city high up in the mountains; ancient SHAH'HAT (Cyrene) and beautiful SUSAH (Apollonia), TULMAYTHAH, TUKRAH, RA'S AL HILAL.... Libya offers you two thousand kilometers of splendid beaches, and some beautiful small cities each with its typical architecture and special characteristics, like AUWARAH, TUBRUQ, MISRATAH, AZ ZAWIYAH, AL-KHUMS, and ZLITAN. Explore Libya's desert in WADI ASH SHATI, the plain of AWAYNAT, BRAK, MURZUQ, and the oasis of AL KUFRAH, ZALLAH and BAZIMAH. Then cool off in AL BAYDA' or near AL MARJ, or on the plain of DARNAH.

As you go further and further into the desert, all you meet are waves and waves, the great sand sea, but then there are the refreshing oasis. The history, the monuments and tales told by the locals make this place unique. It is a feast for the senses.. The jewel of the desert is GHADAMES, a mélange of natural beauty, important monuments and a distinctive architectural style for which it is famous. Libya may be the land of ancient civilizations, but it also looks to the future. It is a country of peace. Libya, a land touched by history.

The war-torn country of Libya is full of fascinating natural beauty and historical sights

The war-torn country of Libya is full of fascinating natural beauty and historical sights.

Beautiful Green mountain Nature Rages from North Africa libya.Waw an Lamus the natural wonder's of the city of sinking in Libya. An ageless Homeland and Sahara desert in water, the natural true beauty.Libya were built Rivers in right under the Sahara desert.

In this video I will try to give you a fair idea about Libya's history, traditions, culture, sights, natural beauty, rituals & economic conditions.

Libya is a country in North Africa located on the southern shore of the Mediterranean Sea. Libya is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, Egypt to the east, Sudan to the southeast, Chad and Niger to the south, and Algeria and Tunisia to the west.

The city of Tripoli is the largest city and capital of Libya, located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.Libya is one of the largest countries in Africa. Although vast in size, Libya is sparsely populated. Most of Libya is covered by the Sahara desert. Most of the people of the country live in coastal areas.

The three main regions of Libya are Tripolitania, Fez, and Cyrenaica. The capital of Libya is Tripoli, and other important cities include Benghazi, Misrata, Tabaruk, Bani Waled, Kikla, Sirate, etc.

Libya gained independence from Italy in February 1947.Libya is still used by human traffickers as a means of human trafficking.

Phoenicians, Romans and Arabs settled in Libya in ancient times. The Italians made the country a colony in the early 20th century. In 1951 the country became an independent monarchy and in 1969 the young military officer Muammar al-Gaddafi seized power. Gaddafi created a new Libya according to his theory of socialism and Arab nationalism. He called Libya a Socialist Arab People's Republic. But to those outside of Libya, the country is better known as a military dictatorship.

Libya covers an area of 1,759,540 square kilometers (6,79,362 sq mi), making it the 16th largest country in the world by area. Libya is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, Tunisia and Algeria to the west, Niger to the southwest, Chad to the south, Sudan to the southeast, and Egypt to the east.

The total population of the country is about 6,420,000.The Berber people are indigenous to Libya. Arabs arrived here in the 7th century AD. The current population of Libya is a mixture of these two races. A small number of Berbers still live in the southern fringes of the country. The majority of Libyans follow Islam. Islam is the state religion here and Arabic is the official language along with English and spoken.

Before the discovery of oil in the 1950s, Libya was a poor country.Libya is one of the richest countries in Africa since the discovery of huge reserves of petroleum. However, many people here are still engaged in farming and herding, although the amount of good farmland is extremely low. The war-torn country is currently trying to turn its economy around.

Libya's economy follows a socialist model and is dependent on the petroleum sector. Almost all of Libya's foreign exchange is earned by exporting petroleum.Petroleum exports account for half of GDP. Libya has one of the highest GDP per capita in Africa due to its small population. Libya's GDP growth rate since 2000 has been promising.

Libya Travel Guide - An African Exceptional Experience

Libya Travel Guide - An African Exceptional Experience

Libya (Arabic: ‏ليبيا‎ ), is a country in North Africa. In the north it has a Mediterranean Sea coast, with Egypt to the east and Tunisia to the west. It also has land borders with Algeria, Chad, Niger and Sudan. More than 90% of the country is desert or semi desert. Archaeological evidence indicates that from as early as 8,000 BC, the coastal plain of Ancient Libya was inhabited by a Neolithic people, the Berbers, who were skilled in the domestication of cattle and the cultivation of crops.

Within Libya as many as five different climatic zones have been recognized, but the dominant climatic influences are Mediterranean and Saharan. In most of the coastal lowland, the climate is Mediterranean, with warm summers and mild winters. Rainfall is scanty. The weather is cooler in the highlands, and frosts occur at maximum elevations. In the desert interior the climate has very hot summers and extreme diurnal temperature ranges.

Regions & Cities of Libya :

Cyrenaica (Benghazi, Shahhat, Tobruk)
the north eastern region on the Mediterranean Sea

Saharan Libya (Gaberoun, Ghadamis, Sabha, Ghat)
huge southern desert region with amazing scenery and some of the hottest temperatures recorded anywhere in the world

Tripolitania (Tripoli, Gharyan, Misratah, Surt)
the north western region on the Mediterranean Sea with the capital city and ancient Roman ruins

Tripoli - the capital

Benghazi

Surt

Tobruk

In Tripoli, it is surprisingly hard to find a traditional Libyan restaurant. Most serve western-style cuisine, with a few Moroccan and Lebanese restaurants thrown in. There are also a number of good Turkish restaurants, and some of the best coffee and gelato outside of Italy. There are some wonderful Libyan dishes you should taste in case you are fortunate enough to be invited to a Libyan dinner party or wedding (be prepared to be overfed!). A favourite cafe for the local expatriate community is the fish restaurant in the souq. For the equivalent of a few US dollars, you can enjoy a great seafood couscous. A local speciality is the stuffed calamari.

Major cities have a range of accommodations available, from shabby hotels to 4 star establishments. Prices vary accordingly. While it seems to be diminishing with the arrival of more tourists every year, Libyans have a strong tradition of taking travellers into their own homes and lavishing hospitality on them. This is certainly true in smaller towns and villages.

Libya is an ancient crossroads of civilisations that bequeathed to the Libyan coast some of the finest Roman and Greek ruins in existence, among them Leptis Magna, Cyrene and Sabratha. Libya also has some of the most beautiful corners of the Sahara Desert, from seas of sand the size of Switzerland and sheltering palm-fringed lakes (the Ubari Sand Sea) to remote massifs adorned with prehistoric rock art (the Jebel Acacus), labyrinthine caravan towns (Ghadames) and an isolated black-as-black volcano (Wawa al-Namus) in the desert's heart.

Western Libya, 2022 | Tripoli - Yefren - Misrata - Sabratah- Zwara

Libya
This trip has been beyond amazing, after several summers spent in Calgary not knowing whether we will ever be able to return again due to COVID… a much needed trip to Libya but this time we it’s appreciating the smallest of things even if it meant sacrificing other things, materials and in some cases people.

Yefren- Our first destination was Yefren, where my father is buried as we usually visit him whenever we are in Libya, and this time we utilized and explored Yefren and Nafusa mountains which are beyond beautiful in nature and have the kindest of people living there. We stayed at Eslyien House hosted by local a Amazigh hostel business and was so nice and peaceful! I fell in love with Yefren and would definitely give it another visit with more time on hand to explore everything it has to offer. Our cousins went with us and we’re absolutely TERRIFIED of all the cute cats there so we had a good time laughing at them!

Sabratah Ruins- the most well-preserved architecture and Roman archeological sites! The locals are keeping an eye on it and keeping the area safe and clean for visitors to use with gates and even parking for tourists (soon). The stage was amazing and it opened up to the most beautiful view of the Mediterranean Sea… I am a history nerd so I didn’t even want to leave this place for a while until we were all melting from the heating temperatures (up to 45 degrees!)

Leptis Magna- one of my favourite Roman Empire ruins in Libya and we definitely did not have time to explore every inch of it thoroughly (again because of the heat????) but was absolutely astonishing. I did notice it was as taken care of compared to Sabratah ruins and they did charge a few for entrance (nothing huge).

Misrata- Where I am from! I always love coming here to visit family and relatives, and to see the beach as well! We stayed at the Al- Aman resort and WOW!!! Never have I experienced such amazing quality of all services including the care of the beach itself, sparkling oceans and crystal clear water… subhanallah.

Tripoli- the bustling city with billions of cafes and food for everyone to try, a city full of delightful people and amazing opportunities in all professional fields. They finally opened the tourist section in the Old City! I was beyond happy because the last time I went it was closed, however now we are seeing a lot more tourists coming into Libya (western side at least) with intentions to explore the country! Praying for peace for everyone there????????

This vlog is SOOOOOO late to be up on YouTube but Uni is eating me alive and I can’t wait to be done, so I sat down and edited this video and began to reminisce over the wholesome memories. Hope you enjoy it too.

Peace

Libya's beautiful beaches (2)

Libya is lined with some stunning beaches.
Libya overlooks the Mediterranean Sea with a coast line around 2.000 km long. This makes Libya's resort beaches among the longest along the Mediterranean Sea. Libya's beaches are characterised by variations in their natural appearances from sandy beaches under the shadows of palm trees to rocky beaches overlooked from above by great hills, such as the one that enjoyed at the Green Mountain Sea Resort.

Libya Movie

Libya Movie reminds me about life that I've spent in this beautiful country. I've been working in Libya for a one year and explored Tripoli, Misurata, Sahara Desert, Leptis Magna and Sabratha.
