A visit to the tomb of King David (David's Tomb), Mount Zion, Jerusalem, Israel

An important and personal request from me (followed by information about King David’s Tomb, Jerusalem): unfortunately as a tour guide I have not worked since February 2020. Please subscribe to my site and let me show you the Holy Land through it
On my YouTube site, you can watch more than 19,000 videos about Israel and the Holy Land
I would be happy if you could share the site with your other friends who are interested in the rich and sacred history of the place
Thanks
Zahi Shaked

King David’s Tomb Mark is a large stone cenotaph (burial mark) inside a Romanesque-style building on Mount Zion.

Since the Middle Ages the site is venerated as the Tomb of King David, although the Bible states that he was buried elsewhere: “Then David slept with his ancestors and was buried in the city of David.” (I Kings 2:10).

History of the Tomb of King David
התנך records the crowning of David and his establishment of a new Capital. Although the new capital is more known by the name Jerusalem, when it is founded, the city is titled “The City of David” (II Samuel 5:6-10). Later the Bible records David’s burial in the city and many of his successors. The location of the royal tomb of Biblical Jerusalem is still uncertain, although some claim its remains lie in the southern slopes of the City of David.

Perhaps the lack of clear evidence for the tombs of the Davidic royal dynasty led to a medieval assumption that they are really on the Southern-Western hill of Jerusalem, known today as Mount Zion. The earliest record for this tradition is from a Muslim source from the 10th century. The current tomb mark of King David on Mount Zion is within a building whose Romanesque style dates it to the time of the Crusaders. Furthermore, the large burial mark (cenotaph) with its big flower decoration is also common to the Crusaders.

Being a holy site, the tomb mark was never excavated, although a ground-penetrating radar survey indicated a big cavity beneath it.

Visiting King David’s Tomb Mark on Mount Zion
Since 1948 the tomb mark is under Israeli control. The tomb mark became a very popular Jewish pilgrimage destination, and to this day a synagogue operates in its building. Visitors to the tomb are requested to be dressed modestly and men are expected to cover their heads.

Zahi Shaked A tour guide in Israel and his camera zahigo25@walla.com +972-54-6905522 tel סיור עם מורה הדרך ומדריך הטיולים צחי שקד 0546905522
My name is Zahi Shaked
In 2000 I became a registered licensed tourist guide.
My dedication in life is to pass on the ancient history of the Holy Land.

Following upon many years of travel around the world, which was highlighted by a very exciting emotional and soul-searching meeting with the Dalai Lama, I realized that I had a mission. To pass on the history of the Holy Land, its religions, and in particular, the birth and development of Christianity.

In order to fulfill this calling in the best way possible, I studied in depth, visited, and personally experienced each and every important site of the ancient Christians. I studied for and received my first bachelors degree in the ancient history of the Holy Land, and am presently completing my studies for my second degree.(Masters)

Parralel to my studies, and in order to earn a living, I was employed for many years in advertising. What I learned there was how to attract the publics attention, generate and, increase interest, and assimilate information. All this I use as tools to describe, explain and deepen the interest in the sites that we visit. From my experience, I have learned that in this way, the Holy Land becomes more than just history, and that the large stones that we see scattered about in dissaray, join together one by one until they become - a Byzantine Church. This also happens when I lead a group of Pilgrims in the Steps of Jesus. We climb to the peak of Mount Precipice, glide over the land to the Sea of Galilee, land on the water, and see the miracle which enfolds before us. This is a many-faceted experience. Not only history which you will remember and cherish, but an experience which I hope will be implanted in your hearts and minds, and will accompany you all the days of your life.

Highway 1 (Hebrew: כביש 1, Kvish Ahat; Arabic: الطريق السريع 1) is the main highway in Israel and the West Bank connecting Tel Aviv and Jerusalem and continuing eastwards to the Jordan Valley.

The route begins as a six lane freeway as it splits off from the Ayalon Highway (Highway 20) just north of the Kibbutz Galuyot Interchange in Tel Aviv travelling 0.7 km due south-southeast following the course of the Ayalon Stream. It then turns southeast, continuing past the 70 meter high Hiriya landfill, intersects Highway 4 and Route 412 and passes the Tel Aviv toll express lanes and park-and-ride facility. Israel Railways maintains tracks along the median of the highway along this section. A separated express toll lane runs along the three westbound lanes between Ben Gurion and Kibbutz Galuyot interchanges.

The road then makes an S-curve as it passes Ben Gurion International Airport and crosses north of the Ayalon Stream. Continuing south-southeast, the road intersects with Highway 40, the cutoff to Route 443 East and Highway 6 (Trans Israel Highway) North where it narrows to four lanes and rises to an elevation of 93 meters at Ben Shemen. Passing Ben Shemen, the highway descends slightly as it turns south-by-west, running concurrently for 1.5 km with Highway 6 providing access to Highway 6 South.

Leaving the Highway 6 concurrency, the road again turns south-southeast travelling through the Ayalon Valley where it once again widens to six lanes and intersects with Highway 431 just south of Modi'in. At this point, Israel's longest bridge, part of the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem High Speed Railway, can be seen in the valley to the north. The road crosses the Ayalon Stream and ascends to 250 meters as it briefly crosses the Green Line (the 1949 Armistice Line) for 1.5 km and back again at Latrun. The road then travels briefly alongside the Ilan Stream approaching Sha'ar HaGai (The Valley Gate) at 300 meters above sea level. At the Sha'ar HaGai Interchange, an Ottoman caravanserai is visible on the south side of the highway.

Ascent to Jerusalem:

Passing through Sha'ar HaGai, Highway 1 begins a pronounced ascent through the Judean Mountains at a point between the Mishlatim Ridge to the north and the Shayarot Ridge and the famous Burma Road to the south. Along this section, abandoned rusted military vehicles have been preserved along the sides of the road to commemorate the efforts of the armored supply convoys that attempted to break through the siege of Jerusalem during 1948 Palestine war. Past Shoresh, the road reaches an elevation of 715 meters along the northern ridge of the Kisalon Valley at Kiryat Ye'arim (Telz-Stone). It then descends to 610 meters as it passes Abu Gosh while crossing the Kisalon Stream at Ein Hemed, and then again ascends reaching 680 meters as it enters the Harel Tunnels, bypassing Mount Ma'oz and Castel National Park at Mevaseret Zion. At this point, the road descents to 610 meter, where it passes on the Motza bridge over the Sorek Stream and Valley, bypassing Motza.

Through Jerusalem:

Now within the municipal limits of Jerusalem, the road continues northeast and begins the final ascent to the city. On the northern slopes below Har HaMenuchot the road splits at Sha'ar Moriah Interchange, completed in 2007. Before 2007, Highway 1 continued its ascent via Ben Gurion Boulevard negotiating three wide curves and three tight curves ending at the historic western entrance to the Jerusalem at the beginning of Jaffa Road. Since that time, the road as numbered now descends from the interchange into the Valley of Cedars (Emek HaArazim).

Aqueduct Beach CAESAREA, Israel - Virtual walk

Walking on the beach of Aqueduct Caesarea. In this video: Aqueduct, Beach Caesarea, Mediterranean Sea
The ruins of the ancient city Caesarea Maritima are located by the sea-shore of Israel, about half way between modern Haifa and Tel Aviv. Caesarea was founded in 10 BCE by King Herod of Judea (37-4 BCE) as an urban centre next to an artificial harbour. In 6 CE, Caesarea was declared the seat of the Roman governor and the political capital of Judea, subsequently named Syria Palaestina by the Emperor Hadrian after the suppression of the Bar Kochba revolt (132-135 AD), and became the largest city in the province. The city had abundant supplies of water delivered from wells, cisterns, and aqueducts.
Total - Three aqueducts. Two aqueducts arrived at Caesarea from the north, named the High level and the Low level aqueduct; a third one - a pipe line - came from the south. The High level aqueduct, apparently constructed in the 1st century CE, started at the Shuni spring located about 7 km north-east of the city (see the aqueduct map nr. 3). Its head of water when reaching Caesarea was 8.5 m asl, with long sections supported by arcades. The average effective delivery of the High level aqueduct was calculated as 300 m3 per hour and considered an abundant amount for a city of 50,000 inhabitants. Such a delivery, about 145 liters per day per capita, is similar to the consumption in modern cities of developed countries. It underwent several alterations and repairs.

Mevaseret Zion Villa overlooking Jerusalem

This magnificent property is located in Mevaseret Zion in an area steeped in vegetation where it dominates the splendid infinite panorama of the Jerusalem mountains.

There are small courtyards and nooks both large and small on the various ground levels, and each area of the garden bears its own character -- an orchard, a hand-made mosaic carpet imprinted in the lower garden pavement, a large clear blue water pool adjacent to a room housing a pampering whirlpool bath (jacuzzi) with a sauna.

The property is a high quality construction, with two large housing units, yielding a particularly high income, and there is also a studio apartment outside the house, for the housemaid, fully equipped with a small kitchen, a toilet and a shower. The inside division of the house is totally convertible, as all the inner walls can be dismantled and rearranged.

The house is equipped with a central heating and air conditioning system, and there is also a built-in fireplace, waiting to be fed by wood in cold winter nights. The living room terrace has been converted into a large dining area with windows all around, overlooking a beautiful mountainous vista. Adjacent to the open, completely accessorized kitchen is a second, concealed cooking area. There are a total of 10 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.

Asking price for this property is $2,575,000.

Jerusalem (/dʒəˈruːsələm/; Hebrew: יְרוּשָׁלַיִם‎ About this soundYerushaláyim; Arabic: القُدس‎ About this soundal-Quds or Bayt al-Maqdis, also spelled Baitul Muqaddas[10][11][12])[note 2] is a city in the Middle East, on a plateau in the Judaean Mountains between the Mediterranean and the Dead Sea. It is one of the oldest cities in the world, and is considered holy to the three major Abrahamic religions—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Both Israel and the Palestinian Authority claim Jerusalem as their capital, as Israel maintains its primary governmental institutions there and the State of Palestine ultimately foresees it as its seat of power; however, neither claim is widely recognized internationally.[note 3][13]

ROAD 10 Complete Driving in the desert First in the world

Road 10-ISRAEL The Negev Desert
It is one of the longest roads in the State of Israel and it stretches for 182 km, almost the entire length of Israel's border with Egypt, from the Gaza Strip in the north to the Rangers junction in the south.

Road 10 is defined as a national road, but according to the Ministry of Transportation's plan to update the numbering of many of Israel's roads, which was published at the end of 2018 - the road is expected to drop in the Israeli road hierarchy to the level of a regional road.

Road history
The road was paved in the early 1980s towards the completion of Israel's withdrawal from Sinai, and was opened to traffic in 1986. Traffic on the road was allowed only during the day. The road was paved under the close supervision of the inspectors of the Nature Reserves Authority to prevent damage to the landscape

The government naming committee determined the name Derech Ayelet for the road, as early as 1979.

In recent years, the section of road developed by Nitzana to the north has been closed to traffic by the IDF, and is currently used as a security road that could only be used by security forces. A new road began to be paved and will connect the settlements of Halutzit and the settlements of Ramat Negev. At the beginning of 2013, the Chief of Staff decided to close Road 10 along its entire length to civilian traffic, for the entire year of 2013.
The road is open on some holidays for tourist traffic
Road route
The road, in its current route, begins in the south at the junction with Road 12 at the junction of the Rangers camp, continues through Har Harif, Nitzana, Nitzana Antiquities and Nitzana Pass, and ends in the north in the western Eshkol settlements near Sinai. The continuation of the road north in the Gaza Strip used to reach the shores of the Mediterranean, in front of the Aluf outpost, and later became known as the Philadelphi Axis. Traffic on the axis was closed to citizens.
Parallel to the road, a boundary fence was erected and boundary stones were placed along a considerable part of the road, but the fence was not maintained and over the years was swept or covered with dirt. In 2010, a new fence five meters high was erected to prevent the passage of infiltrators from Africa to Israel. A military security road was paved along the fence.
The road is a scenic road that allows observation of the Sinai Peninsula and the mountains of the central Negev. The ancient Gaza road (Dereb al-Gaza) parallels the road on its southwestern side, within the Sinai Peninsula, and is used for trade and the movement of pilgrims between the Gulf of Eilat and Gaza. The section of road between Nitzana and Har Harif is named Derech Yair after Captain Yair Peled, commander of the paratroop patrol who was killed near the route in 1959.

The video was filmed on the eve of the spring escalation of the Arab-Israeli conflict in spring 2021. And some of the objects shown in it are directly related to very old moments in the history of this conflict. One has only to read the history of this settlement, it is ambiguous. I will not comment on this. Since every thinking person has his own point of view on this conflict, and this depends on many things ...
However, I still advise you to visit the café!
