De carnavalsfeesten in Noordwijk.
Bij de feesten in de drie dorpen zijn dit jaar recyclebare softcups en draagtrays verkrijgbaar. Carnavalsvierders moeten die plastic bekers, nadat ze die hebben leeggedronken, niet op straat mieteren maar in zogenaamde bekerkokers gooien.
Ook werken de verschillende horecagelegenheden met statiegeld voor herbruikbare draagtrays. De duurzame drankspullen worden ingezet in De Duinpan, feestzaal van De Keiebijters, De Schelft, Sporthal Northgo, Café van der Geest en het Feest van Harry.
Optochten
In Noordwijk, Noordwijkerhout en De Zilk reden dit weekeinde maar liefst vier carnavalsoptochten. Daarvoor gelden op verschillende plaatsen en tijden verkeersmaatregelen.
Op vrijdagavond 9 februari was er van 19.00 tot 21.30 uur de verlichte carnavalsoptocht van de Noortukkers. Op zaterdagochtend 10 februari was er in Noordwijkerhout de Kinderoptocht om 10.11 uur en de grote optocht om 13.11 uur. De optocht in de Zilk vondt plaats op zondag 11 februari om 13:11 uur.

Leiden Netherlands - HD walk around the city
Leiden is one of the most beautiful cities in all of the world and most certainly in the Netherlands. This city is everything one would hope to experience on a trip to Holland. Leiden is full of beautiful canals, restaurants, independent shops and boutiques and very friendly Dutch people. I highly recommend visiting on your trip to the Netherlands.

Leiden The Netherlands
Our last little clip of our four-month trip (Pakistan, Washington DC, Netherlands). This was our last stay, Leiden. Leiden is quite the old girl, with the, Leiden University, oldest university in Holland – 1575, lots of canals, birthplace of Rembrandt where he was educated. This county got its name in 1101 from a domain near the stronghold: Holtland or Holland. Leiden was sacked in 1047 by Emperor Henry III. Leiden received city rights in 1266. In 1389, its population had grown to about 4,000 persons. In other words, it is an old city with lots of old stuff around the place, including us. Also home of Windmill museum De Valk. The two branches of the Oude Rijn, which enter Leiden on the east, unite in the centre of the city. BTW, we got our second booster shot two days ago (Moderna) not sure if it is the vaccine or jetlag, but we are wiped out. Need a rest before planning our next trip – which is to visit you. Cheers.

New years dive Leiden 2023 was held for the second consecutive time in the T'Joppe , in the Merewijk neighbourhood. The New years dive 2023 was organized by the inhabitants of the merenwijk.
I personally participated in the New years dive Leiden 2023 and was one of the first to jump in and jump out of the water. After a few hours, the photo in the thumbnail of this video was published in the local newspaper where I am seeing coming out of the water. This is to be seen in

BRANDWEER Leiden: Arthur Haasbroek geeft lezing over hoe snel de brandweer ter plaatse is
Arthur Haasbroek hoofdbrandmeester bij Brandweer Hollands Midden gaf zaterdag 21 mei aan de brandweer kazerne in de Rooseveltstraat leiden twee keer een lezing in het kader van Leiden European City of Science 2022 over zogenaamde opkomsttijden van de brandweer. Arthur Haasbroek houdt zich sinds 2003 bezig met de ontwikkelingen rondom de opkomsttijden en is binnen de brandweer een expert op dit gebied. Wat staat erover in de wet? Wat gebeurt er in de praktijk? Leiden krijgt een nieuwe kazerne aan de Schipholweg in plaats van de huidige in de Merenwijk en twee kazernes in Oegstgeest en Leiderdorp gaan dicht. Iedereen was welkom zaterdag in de kazerne aan de Rooseveltlaan. Daar zijn ook oude en nieuwe brandweerwagens te bewonderen. En je kon er informatie krijgen over hoe je je eigen huis of bedrijfspand brandveilig maakt.
