Beaumaris | Anglesey | Wales - Things To See And Do Vlog

Welcome to this, Things To See And Do In Beaumaris, Anglesey in Wales.

Beaumaris Anglesey in North Wales you say?

If you're visiting Beaumaris on the isle of Anglesey in North Wales and are looking for some things to see and do, then this Beaumaris vlog is just for you.

Over a full day's adventure, we head up the North Wales coast, onto Anglesey and to the beautiful old town of Beaumaris.

What is there to see and so in Beaumaris? Well, there's actually quite a lot, and we show you everything we got up to in this beautiful North Wales town.

Our first plan was to take a trip to Puffin Island, obviously after we had first visited the Beaumaris, Red Boat Ice Cream Parlour.

We book our Puffin Island Trip with Starida Puffin Island Cruises - and have a lovely hour and a half on which turned out to be their first Puffin Island trip of the season.

The Starida guys on the trip were excellent, and as well as getting to actually see some puffins and all manner of other type of sea bird and wildlife, the Starida staff were fun and full of interesting information about the cruise and the surrounding area.

Next up was Beaumaris Castle. Beaumaris Castle was built by King Edward I, under the direction of James of St George, in his campaign against the Welsh. In 1403, the castle was taken by Owain Glyndwr and was back in Welsh hands, until it got recaptured again in 1405.

Beaumaris Castle is stunning and reminded us a bit of Harlech castle.

Next up, it was a look around Beaumaris Gaol. Once a treacherous prison, built in 1829, it is now a museum.

Before heading home, it was a look around the beautiful town of Beaumaris, taking in the history of the area and then a ride on the Beaumaris Ferris Wheel on the water's edge, with stunning views over the stunning Snowdonia range.

So if you find yourself visiting Anglesey in North Wales and the beautiful town of Beaumaris, then make sure you check out this Beaumaris Anglesey Wales Vlog.

We have lots of vlogs from North Wales, including a vlog we did last year which also features Beaumaris, where we had a failed attempt at going to see the puffins. This time, we ended up on a Rib Boat, taking a trip down the stunning Menai Straights. That vlog can be found here...

As always, we finish of our vlog with a sum up and a well deserved pint, and as we say in Postcard And A Pint....Cheers To The Good Times x

⭐ About Postcard & A Pint:
Welcome to the official Postcard & A Pint YouTube channel.
Postcard & A Pint was thought up by my partner, Rachel & myself, Wills one day while taking our daily 1 hour exercise during the lockdown of 2020. All of a sudden, we were spending more time together, not working 6 or 7 days a week in the arts industry, and binge watching travel programs, and we were actually really enjoying it, and it made us re-evaluate what was important in life for us. Now back to working 6 or 7 days a week again, with very little time off, our happy time is getting out there on our brief times off together and making short travel videos that we are now sharing with you. It's just a bit of fun, and great for our sanity. Your support is hugely appreciated x

Menai Bridge Walk: Town Centre【4K】

Located on the island of Anglesey just off the north coast of Wales is the town of Menai Bridge.

The town is named after the Menai Suspension Bridge linking up to Bangor on the other side of the Menai Strait. The settlement predates the bridge and was formerly known as Porthaethwy, meaning 'harbour of the Daethwy tribe' in Welsh.

The first recorded reference to a ferry crossing in Anglesey dates back to 1292. This provided a means of transporting goods from Holyhead and other parts of Anglesey to mainland Britain - as far as London in some cases. The cattle, however, were made to swim across as the drovers took them to market.

In 1815 an Act of Parliament passed allowing for the construction of the Holyhead Road. Holyhead was, and still is, the principal ferry port between Dublin and Great Britain. The task of designing this road was given to Scottish engineer Thomas Telford. Construction began on his bridge in 1819. By 1824 the main stonework was completed, and by 1826 the bridge was finished and opened to the public. In doing so, stagecoach travel between Holyhead and London was cut down from around 36 hours before to around 9 hours after.

The Menai Suspension Bridge became the first of two bridges linking Anglesey with mainland Wales. The other came in 1850 with the opening of the Britannia Bridge courtesy of railway engineer Robert Stephenson. This made rail travel to Anglesey possible for the first time as the Chester and Holyhead Railway extended west of Bangor and through the island.

In 1858 a railway station opened at Menai Bridge, but was closed in the 1960s due to the Beeching Cuts - a controversial move to encourage road travel. These days, to reach the town from mainland Wales on public transport requires a bus from Bangor. It is worth noting that Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch is just two miles to the west, with some scenic views for those who like hiking. And if you read that last sentence in one breath, well done! Also if you like hiking, be warned that Menai Bridge to Beaumaris is NOT pedestrian-friendly as the pavements run out in places!

Menai Strait Bridges & Ynys Gorad Goch (Island) (4K)

*The Menai Strait (Welsh: Afon Menai, the River Menai) is a narrow stretch of shallow tidal water about 25 km (16 mi) long, which separates the island of Anglesey from the mainland of Wales.
The strait is bridged in two places: the Menai Suspension Bridge (Welsh: Pont Grog y Borth) carrying the A5, and Robert Stephenson's 1850 Britannia Tubular Bridge. Originally the Britannia carried rail traffic in two wrought-iron rectangular box spans but after a disastrous fire in 1970, which left only the limestone pillars remaining, it was rebuilt as a steel box girder bridge, and now carries both rail and road traffic (A55). Between the two bridge crossings there is a small island in the middle of the strait, Ynys Gorad Goch, on which are built a house and outbuildings and around which are the significant remains of fish traps, no longer used.
The strait varies in width from 400 metres (1,300 ft) from Fort Belan to Abermenai Point to 1,100 metres (3,600 ft) from Traeth Gwyllt to Caernarfon Castle. It then narrows to 500 metres (1,600 ft) in the middle reaches (Y Felinheli and Menai Bridge) and then it broadens again. At Bangor, Garth Pier, it is 900 metres (3,000 ft) wide. It then widens out, and the distance from Puffin Island (Welsh: Ynys Seiriol) to Penmaenmawr is about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi). The differential tides at the two ends of the strait cause very strong currents to flow in both directions through the strait at different times, creating dangerous conditions. One of the most dangerous areas of the strait is known as the Swellies (or Swillies – Welsh Pwll Ceris) between the two bridges. Here rocks near the surface cause over-falls and local whirlpools, which can be of considerable danger in themselves and cause small boats to founder on the rocks. This was the site of the loss of the training ship HMS Conway in 1953. Entering the strait at the Caernarfon end is also hazardous because of the frequently shifting sand banks that make up Caernarfon bar. (*from wikipedia)

CANCELLING ALL MY PLANS AND FLYING TO SYDNEY FOR A WEEK | Australia vlog!

HI Welcome back to another vlog!

Soooo I decided to take a week from the hectic and busy lifestyle I have in Melbourne, and fly to Sydney... for an even more hectic week ???????? I'm so glad I got to see Ale before he flies to Europe for 5 months and to discuss some exciting projects that will be coming soon.

Day 1 - I landed in Sydney at around 11:00am. Ale took me to a viewpoint overlooking the Harbour Bridge and then we went to his place to drop my bags. I got some lunch and we spent the rest of that day at the gym and at the grocery store. Day one was very relaxed, I was pretty tired.

Day 2 - The weather wasn't looking too good, so I tried a new makeup look and we had an indoor photoshoot. That night we went to the city and to an event held by 'The Daily Aus' all about politics and understanding the vote that all Australians 18+ cast on Saturday. It was great to learn more and be informed about the potential future of our country.

Day 3 - On day 3 we started our morning with a walk around The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney. We walked all the way to Mrs Macquarie's Point to view the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House from an especially unique perspective, where they are both seen in close proximity to each other. Then we headed into Sydney CBD to take some cool photos with clothing pieces I picked up from Camberwell market the previous week.

Day 4 - Another productive morning LET'S GO! This was the biggest day of them all. After a refreshing workout at the gym, and filling breakfast, we headed to Vaucluse & Milk Beach to make the most of Sydney's warm Autumn weather. Genuinely felt like Summer. We jumped off the jetty, got icy poles and snacks and watched the sunset. I also met the loveliest group of girls who gave me colourful glow sticks - they were the main characters. When we got home I met two of Ale's best friends! We clicked straight away and had the best night out together, coming across some very unique dancers on the d floor hahaha

Day 5 - We had a bit of a sleep in on Sunday. Ale and I picked up some groceries and then we all had breakfast together (with his lovely parents too) we got ready and headed to the florist to see all the pretty colours of the flowers out on display. Then Ale gave me a tour of the university he goes to - USYD (The University of Sydney) It genuinely reminded me of Hogwarts. When Ale is in Melbourne next I'll have to give him a tour of my uni! Our next location and plan was a walk along the streets of Paddington, seeing Sydney's Victorian Terrace houses. Then we got dinner with Chels! It was so great to reunite with the trio once again xxx

Day 6 - BONDI BEACH DAY. Ale asked a very important question in this vlog - Did you even come to Sydney if you didn't come to Bondi? HAHA I think a must-do in Sydney is the Bondi to Bronte walk. We spent the day soaking in the sun, having acai bowls and swimming at Bondi Icebergs. Before my flight, Ale and I watched the sunset at Observatory Hill and then it was time to say goodbye.

I had the best and busiest week and I'm going to miss Ale so much during these next 5 months - unless I decide to book a last-minute flight to Europe ????

I hope you enjoyed watching! So much love for each and every one of you. Thank you for supporting me and my passion for creating videos ????
