Der Große Nallenberg (768,3 m ü.NHN) mit seinem wunderschönen kleinen Bergsee beeindruckt. Dieser See ist in einem stillgelegten, ehemaligen Steinbruch entstanden und die Felsformationen ragen darüber imposant hervor. Wer es bis nach oben geschafft hat, der kann ein traumhaftes Rhön-Panorama genießen. Bei gutem Wetter und klarer Sicht kann man vom Gipfel aus über das Tal rund um Gersfeld auf die Rhöner Berge wie Kreuzberg, Heidelstein, Wasserkuppe, Pferdskopf, Eube, Wachtküppel, Milseburg und auch bis in das Tal der Fulda und in die Region Frankfurt blicken.
Das „Land der offenen Fernen“, ist anders als andere Mittelgebirge und hat mehr als nur die Wasserkuppe zu bieten, u.a. über 500 ausgeschilderte Wanderwege.
